Chapter 6 - Sandstorm

Lando and Hana's Nephalem shook as the sandstorm grew more intense. The wind was so powerful that it flung the bodies of the Vultures they had just fought against like rag dolls. Hana's eyes were focused on her console, trying to figure out where Bale and Zander were located in the storm.

Lando could feel his heart beating faster with each passing moment. Losing two comrades was already too much for him to bear. He couldn't let more of his team perish in this unforgiving wasteland.

Suddenly, a truck came flying out of nowhere and hit their Nephalem. Lando's reflexes kicked in, and he manoeuvred the Nephalem away from the debris. The truck smashed into a nearby structure, causing it to wobble and crack. The structure crumbled, taking some of the Vulture bodies with it.

Through the chaos, Lando spotted Bale and Zander's Nephalem. They were out of control and being swept away by the sandstorm. Panic set in as the red alert sounded in their Nephalem. Zander tried to gain control, but it was too late. They landed on the sand, only to be immediately swept off the ground and slammed into the ruins.

The old bricks collapsed, and the Nephalem came crashing down with them. Lando quickly launched his Nephalem towards them and landed underneath, using the Nephalem's arms to slow down the falling debris.

Bale was furious. "Lando, you idiot! Why did you follow us?" he shouted. "I came to save you guys," Lando answered without hesitation.

The building continued to crumble, and the red alarm continued to beep in their Nephalem. Bale paused, unsure of what to say. He knew the truth, but he didn't want to admit it. Zander saw the hesitation and stepped in. "Yes, it's working. Let's get out of here."

Their Nephalem slowly got up, revealing severe dents and holes. Lando and Hana followed closely behind as they all made their way out of the storm.

The wind was howling and the sand was whipping up in a frenzy, making it almost impossible to see anything. Lando and Hana struggled to keep control of their Nephalems, fighting against the forces of the storm. Suddenly, a massive gust of wind and sand picked them up, bringing debris from the ruins above crashing down towards them. The ruins were barely visible through the haze of the storm, but the sound of the falling debris was loud and terrifying.

Lando quickly barked orders, "SHOOT THE DEBRIS!" Hana nodded, quickly pulling out the blaster from her Nephalem and fired at the incoming debris. The blaster shots smashed the debris into smaller pieces, and the shattered remnants zipped past them at high speeds. But it wasn't enough.

Bale and Zander's Nephalem were struggling to keep control as well. They had lost sight of Lando and Hana, and the debris was coming at them fast. In a split second decision, Bale pulled out their guitar and activated it. The instrument transformed into a powerful weapon, shooting a rapid barrage of purple beams that destroyed the incoming debris, one by one.

As they flew through the storm, the debris continued to assault them, but they fought back with everything they had. Lando and Hana fired their blasters while Bale and Zander's guitar sent out powerful blasts of energy, destroying everything in their path. It was a fierce battle against the elements, but they were determined to survive.

The sandstorm raged on, unleashing its fury upon the small group of warriors. As the winds picked up, Lando and Hana struggled to maintain control of their Nephalems, but Bale and Zander were having an even tougher time. Their machines were damaged and unresponsive, bucking and lurching wildly as they fought to stay airborne.

Despite their best efforts, Bale and Zander's Nephalems plummeted towards the unforgiving ground, crashing hard into the sand and rubble below. The impact was brutal, tossing the pilots about like ragdolls and sending clouds of dust and debris flying into the air.

Lando and Hana watched in horror from above as their friends' machines smashed into the ground, hoping against hope that they would somehow survive the impact. But as the dust began to settle, it was clear that something had gone terribly wrong.

"Are you guys okay?" Lando called out, his voice strained with worry. There was no response from below, only the eerie silence of the storm. And then, without warning, the stillness was shattered by a deafening explosion.

Lando and Hana's Nephalems rocked violently in the air as the blast wave hit them, throwing them off course and sending them tumbling towards the ground. Through the chaos, Lando caught a glimpse of Bale and Zander's Nephalem, engulfed in flames and billowing black smoke.

"NO!" he cried out in despair, tears streaming down his face. The explosion echoed in his ears as he watched his friends' machines disintegrate before his eyes. For a moment, he could do nothing but stare in shock and disbelief, the weight of the loss crushing down upon him.

And then, slowly, the reality of the situation began to sink in. They were stranded in the middle of a brutal sandstorm, without the aid of their fallen comrades or their Nephalems. The darkness of the night was closing in fast, and they were miles from any form of shelter or help.

The impact was so severe that the fire from their Nephalem spread into the nearby ruins, the flames quickly engulfing the dust and debris. Lando's Nephalem landed with a heavy thud, rolling over and crashing into a nearby sandy hill. The impact caused Lando to hit his head on the dashboard, blood trickling down his forehead, as his ears rang from the impact.

Hana crawled over to him, tears streaming down her face as she tried to rouse him. "Lando! Lando!" she cried out, her voice shaky with emotion. But he was unresponsive, his eyes closed as he drifted in and out of consciousness. The sight of him so still and battered sent a chill down her spine.

As Hana tried to revive Lando, she could see the fire spreading towards them. They needed to move, and fast. But without Lando conscious, they couldn't move their Nephalem. Panic set in as she looked around, trying to find a way out of this deadly situation.
