Chapter 17 - Alone Again - Kaede

I couldn't believe what I was, what I had done as when I step out from the bedroom I could see the body of Silas still laying there when I. "Killed him." I felt sick, knowing what I had done, as I can't help but stare at his corpse. I had no control over my body before, I didn't want to kill him, not after all that he had done for me. However, he did taste delicious, and my starving stomach felt extremely satisfied; I don't want to have to deal with that pain again.

Kaede: "No..."

I then realized that if I didn't want that pain, I'd have to... Kill another person again. The thought made me collapse to my knees in front of what I had done, as I try and collect my thoughts. "Maybe animals could also work? I doesn't have to be humans right?" Thinking of different ways to handle my predicament, I try to think of a different way to satiate my hunger. Either way though, I had to deal with Silas.

Standing back up, I approach his body. Wrapping my hands around his legs, I attempt to try and drag his body outside, but to my surprise, he felt incredibly light, whilst I dragged his body out the door. I'm ever so thankful that we lived together alone out here, if we were living in the town or even worse a city, I'd have probably been caught already.

After successfully dragging his body out of the door, I'm hit was a beautiful breeze as it breaks through my hair. "I wonder how far I should take him?" I thought to myself as I continued to drag him into the forest, staying away from the dirt path to not draw attention to myself, making my way deeper into the forest.

Its my first time going this deep into the forest as nerves started to build up inside me. I was also dragging a freshly dead body, so I was scared that some beasts might smell it and start coming my way. Thinking that I've come deep enough I let go of Silas, leaving him next to one of the trees before making my leave, back to the cabin when suddenly.

*Snap!*

Hearing the sound of twigs being snapped I turn towards the direction of the sound, crouching down to lower my presence when something came into my view. It was a wolf. It looked bigger than the wolves I knew of back in my old world as it slowly started to approach the body of Silas. I waited in silence as I slow my breathing, watching the wolf. Suddenly the wolf became clouded in mist, disappearing only leaving a human in it's place. Their ears still visible as they knelt down at Silas. "What?" I was baffled seeing what just happened in front of me. "So there are people who can shapeshift..." I watched on closely as the stranger continued to inspect his body, stopping at his neck.

A wave of anxiety flooded inside me. I went with Silas to town, I was the last person with him. If this person saw us, they would no doubt think that I'm the culprit. My anxiety only rising second after second, I needed to do something quick, before they say anything to others. Wondering what to do, I see the stranger change back into wolf form before running out in the direction towards town. "I wont let you..." Reacting immediately as the stranger started running, I pounce out at full speed, closing the distance between me and the wolf in a blink of and eye, my nails now pointed just like before as I sink them deep into the neck of the wolf.

The force of me colliding with the wolf sent the wolf flying towards a tree before crashing to the ground, their blood all over my fingers as the smell of it was so inviting. Looking over to where the wolf landed, I saw that it changed back to human, extending their right hand with their left on their neck trying to stop the bleeding. "Are they going to cast magic?" Seeing water start to build up around their palm, I whip my arm in their direction, making their arm snap in the opposite direction.

Wolfman: "GAHHHH!"

He let out a blood curdling scream as he drops his arm down, his arm clearly broken as he struggles whether to hold onto his neck or his arm.

Wolfman: "D-Dem-!"

Not letting him finish what he was about to say, I raise my arm quickly before making his body blow up, exploding in place as blood stained the tree and the area around him.

Kaede: "I'm... I'm not a demon..."

I couldn't accept it. I had just killed 2 people but even still, I wanted to be normal; not... A demon. If anyone were to find out that I had killed Silas, I'd be called a villain, maybe even hunted by people in that 'guild' in town, I didn't want to risk it so. I killed him.

Laying in front of me was the remains of the person I had just killed, blood everywhere as the smell of it was intoxicating. I could feel my fangs start to appear, before going closer to his body. The right half half of his body was completely destroyed from earlier with his left side mostly intact, the blood spewing from his neck left me with an urge to sink my fangs inside.

Kaede: "NO!"

Yelling out loud to myself, I snap out of it as my face was drawing closer to his neck before standing back up. "I have to control myself" I think to myself, where my eyes glace over to where Silas was. "I have to make sure he isn't found." Instead of aiming with my hand to where Silas is, I try to imagine him imploding in himself. To my surprise, it worked, as Silas' body collapsed into itself, turning his body into something mortifying, leaving no trace of his appearance as his face had been destroyed.

Feeling satisfied that no one would be able to tell that it was Silas, I left the forest, heading back towards the cabin.

Kaede: "... Alone again."

I mutter to myself on the way back. First it was Yui, and now Silas; tears start to build up in my eyes as I remember the times with Yui. If she also got reincarnated into this world then I must find her, I don't want to be alone any longer, especially not in this unfamiliar world.

Before entering the cabin, I look around, making sure no one was around before heading inside, closing the door behind me. My body slumps down against the door, sliding down before sitting down on the floor, my back against the door. Letting out a loud sigh, I look over towards the kitchen; the blood stains still present. I couldn't bring myself to get up from the ground as I find my tears building back up before hiding my eyes in my legs, curling up as I do so, reflecting on what I had just done.

The atmosphere of the cabin no longer felt like a sense of comfort, but now a sense of dread, like if anything dared to enter they would surely die. After some time I got up from the floor, walking around the house to see if there was any cleaning supplies, but after checking the bedroom, closets, bathroom, I couldn't find anything. I can't just leave the kitchen like that though, I'll need to find some supplies in-

Kaede: *Sigh*

Letting out a sigh as I know where I need to go, but I don't like the idea. I'm going to have to go back to the town and get some supplies, however people have seen me now, they will surely think something isn't right when they see Silas isn't with me. "Do I just tell them I'm getting supplies for him?" That wouldn't work, he always came to town, and I had only just gone with him for the first time earlier today.

Contemplating what to do, I decided that I'll have to head back into town, as I can't risk if someone came to visit only to see the stains on the kitchen floor. With my decision made up, I head back out of the cabin, closing the door behind me before-

Kaede: "Fuck..."

I look down to notice that I'm covered in blood still. Heading back inside, I tidy myself up, washing my face with the little amount of water we had. I could only get the blood that was on my skin as my black dress still had blood over it. What if-

A thought came to mind as I look at my arm. "What if I made it look like I was attacked." Thinking that it was the best option to do, I look at my right hand as I make my nails sharp once again before gently cutting into my arm.

Kaede: "Heh-"

I can't help but let out a short laugh as I hurt myself like I did in my old world. Blood starts coming out from my arm before taking my finger nails out from the wound. I knew I could heal it if it became too much, but with this amount I think this could work.

Walking back out of the cabin, I head back to the town 'Azalea'. My right arm stopping the bleeding, as I try to roll in the dirt, trying to make myself more roughed up before finally; the town was in sight.
