Chapter 19 - Corpo-Rat

Michael walked deeper into the alley until he felt it was safe enough. His shoulder hit the wall and he groaned, slowing sliding to the ground with pain in his eyes.

His right arm had completely lost all feeling and he could feel that although the injuries on his back had stopped bleeding, he had already lost too much blood. It would be a bad idea to remove the embedded shrapnels. His priority was to fix his shoulder first and rest until he could recover a bit of juice to charge up his Neuro-interface.

Amidst his slowly plunging consciousness, he was jolted awake by the faint sounds of footstep ringing out from within the alleyway, slowing increasing in volume.

"It's true what they say, when pushed to the edge, even a beast surpasses its limits."

Michael's brain buzzed, recognizing the voice. 'How is he here!?'

Despair, fear and disbelieve, he rarely felt this but at this moment, they cloud every inch of his face. How!? How did the corpo-rat survive that fall? The building was almost a thousand meters tall, no one should have been able to survive that sort of fall even if he was fully chromed up!

Another thing going through his head was how could a cop afford expensive chromes like the sandevistan, the Hit-Storm Optics cyberware and then the Mantis blade.

He wasn't just a corrupt cop, he definitely took the wares from those he had imprisoned and captured and now, he needed someone to take the blame for the 3rd Gen Nanites which is a tech on a whole new level.

He had probably retrieved the Nanites from the thief and would definitely merge with it. Considering the fact that he already possess numerous cybernetics, his strength would receive a massive boost!

Most importantly, how was he able to track him to this exact location? Michael made sure to avoid the security cams with the crowds making sure there was no facial recognition but he was still able to track him!

Did he actually tag him while they were fighting?

Lots of questions flashed through Michael's brain but sadly, there was no one to give him the answer he needed.

The captain's menacing eyes flashed coldly with his optic implants as his biocell fuel fired up fiercely, making his cybernetic implant hum and roar like the sound of a jet engine. He was like a dragon, releasing waves of intimdating energy as he trapped his prey as the corner.

Michael's eyes, the fear and confusion in his eyes cleared, revealing a stubborn look. He couldn't go down like this, not when he had reached this point!

The captain's face turned cold as his body began edging forward, bending his waist, he suddenly burst forward at a frightening pace.

Michael concentrated his strength on his arms and clenched them tightly.

Just as the captain was 10 meters away from him, he stomped down with a strength of more than 200 kg as the cemented ground beneath him was smashed to bits. Summoning his matchless strength he burst forward abruptly.

Michael had never expected that the burst of strength of the captain would be so terrifying, covering a span of 7-8 metres in an instance.

What was more frightening was that even after the previous fight, the captain didn't seem like he sustained any legitimate damage as he charged forward at Michael, sweeping across with his right hand!

Faced with such terrifying speed, Michael tried to dodge but he was simply top slow instead he took a direct blow from the fist.

"BAM!" Michael flew from the impact, spinning three rounds in midair smashing through a weakened wall partition, into a fellow's house and flying a further 5-6 metres.

As he flew in mid air, he crashed into many different objects, landing to the ground and rolling thrice before stabilising.

The resident staying at the house was first stunned but screamed soon after as she grabbed at a pistol close by.

She was about to fire when she saw the uniform of enforcer on Ron's body, the glowing medal iof a captain immediately silenced her and she fled her own house from the collapsed wall without much thought.

Shaking his head from his giddiness, Michael actually felt no pain. However, half of his face had gone numb, this lips were twitching uncontrollably as he felt that he had lost several of his teeth.

Suddenly he felt a burning sensation from the injured area, as a searing pain started to extend to his entire body!

If an ordinary person had been hit with this blow, he would have definitely died upon impact. Michael's physique was superior to an average person by four folds, but, even with his superiority in body, he had still been reduced to such a sorry state!

"F**k!"

Michael rolled and forced himself up, his cheeks were swollen as he panted heavily.

Just as he was thinking in despair, the captain's voice rang out once more as he closed in on Michael. "To be honest, you surprised me. You are the first to actually get this far and put me in such position."

Looking at the nearby captain inching closer step by step, he coughed a mouthful of blood. His heart felt extremely dreadful.

Before coming here, he had already a very high estimation of the enforcer boss's potential strength. But he never expected the output of strength of the captain's full strength to be so fearful. He was powerless in the face of such tremendous strength.

The tactical helmet tightly fitted against the captains face retracted backward, revealing his cold, smiling face. The arrogance, the disdain, the malice, and contempt on his face was overwhelming. It was as though Michael wasn't fit to breath the same air as him, as though he wasn't allowed to live under the same skies as hin, as though he was nothing than the rat scurrying down the garbage disposal.

"Didn't your whore of a mother teach you the importance of status?"

Michael's face burned with anger but before Michael could react, the enforcer captain mercilessly shot towards him, raising his feet and stomping it down.

As the feet stomped down on him,Michael could hear a horrifying exploding sound intruding into the atmosphere.

"Kaboom!"
