Chapter 32 - The Trader

The black market had changed drastically during the past two months of not coming here. The malicious, eerie streets of the black market which was previously bussing with customers of various backgrounds both the worst of the worst types of merc to serial organ harvester to those who corrupt corpos. But now, it wasn't as bustling as before and the population of the market seem to have decreased by more than half.

Even the abandoned building which had a ripper doc within had been shut down, making everything and every where less lively when compared to the previous time.

Michael adjusted his mask, keeping his face properly hidden. He cold guess the reason for this change was faintly related to that NCED captain he had killed back then but he was unsure.

Passing through the street, he brushed past different shady individuals. Michael snorted coldly as he slapped a sneaky hand reaching for his pocket and the another headed for his cyber-deck.

The individuals wee obviously stunned but immediately walked past as though they hadn't done anything strange. Michael also walked past as though he hadn't noticed their actions, not bothering to pursue the matter. He knew the more you pursue such matters, the more troublesome it becomes.

He walked for a while when he suddenly paused, staring at his left hand side, a memory flashed through his head. This was actually the place where he had bought the 2nd generation modifier Nanites and also received the assistive Nanites as compensation.

Hid eyes flashed weirdly. Although the man ripped him off, he had gained from the disaster instead. Without the accident, he might not have been reincarnated into this body.

Continuing on, he reluctantly removed his gaze from a store selling various types of prototype cyberware, shaking the thought of robbing the trader and stealing his entire cyber ware to absorb into metal essence.

He walked a bit deeper into the market and reached a small store with a barely hanging neon sign stating the word  'Gene Flash'

Michael had spotted this place sometime ago during his exploring. Although his predecessor comes here often, it is mostly for knowledge and to admire advanced military grade cyber ware if available despite knowing he would never be able to afford them. Sadly, the only thing of high quality around these parts and also for free, is death.

Compared to the other stores with glaring neon lights and holographic adverts and broadcast that could easily hi-jack ones HUD system, the Gene Flash store was different, more plain looking as it possesses lightning system of the old era  which is LED, something Michael felt more familiar with compared with the various types of Neon lights currently being used in this world.

Gingerly walking in, Michael's eyes scanned through the shop and his eyes suddenly latched on a transparent shelf on the left side of the shop.

The shelf contained numerous types of organs, each locked and frozen in a transparent tube, which contained greenish fluid around them. Some of the organs were even squirming within the transparent glass tube.

Michael's eyes only locked onto the shelf for half a second before he reproved his gaze, and shifted his focus on an old relic type Cyber ware hanging at the other side of the shop in full interest.

Fully aware of the way things worked within the Black market, Michael didn't dare to show interest in buying the genetic material and instead focused on the relic type cyber ware. The trader would instead use it to scam him for more money.

As his eyes locked onto the cyber ware, his system brought out the full specification of the cyber ware to his line of sight.

[Cyberware:] Gorilla Arms

[Type]: Prototype

[Bio-cell fuel]: 10J/sec (Upon activation).

[Requirements]: 100j, 0.5 physique, 0.5 reflex.

[Effect]:  when activated, each fist can release at least 500kg of force, easily suppressing your foes.

Seeing this, Michael sneered as he was well aware of this sort of cyberware that claims to have astonishing amount of force within them. They all had one flaw which was that the cyber ware is too heavy. Installing one in your arms would increase your weight by about 100 to 80 kilogram, reducing your speed, agility and reaction speed.

What's the use of having astonishing amounts of force when you can't even hit your enemies all. It's basically a useless arm cyber ware and Michael was sure that no one would want to buy something that would burden and weaken them instead of doing the exact opposite.

It was at that moment a short and chubby figure walked in from the depth of the store. The figures face was also covered in a black mask, almost the same as Michaels' with only the eyes revealed.

With the amount of fat surrounding that body, it was unknown if the person behind the mask was male or female.

"What do you want?" A mechanical voice resonated within the depth of the store.

'Even the voice is Masked?' Michael was a bit sceptical at this point. Hiding ones face was already good enough within this parts, what's the use of masking ones voice? With the amount of voice phising ware out there and voice changing cyber wares, no one really relying on voice as evidence anymore.

"How much for this gorilla arm cyber ware?" Michael asked in a voice similar to the Iron clawz leader: Steelz's thickened voice. If the trader was masking his voice, why shouldn't he do the same?

The Masked traders eyes locked onto Michael for about two seconds before they retracted their gaze and the same mechanical voice responded. "100,000 credits."

Michael's froze and his eyes stared at the traders face, wondering if he was truly serious. But even after a few seconds, he couldn't tell if the stranger had been joking or not.

"Why don't you tell me what you are truly here for." The trader suddenly stated.

Michael's pupils constricted as he stared at the trader with an incredulous look on his face. If it weren't for the fact that his face was hidden by the mask, he might have confirmed the trader's words.

Michael remained silent for a few seconds before slowly nodding. "I need the genetic material of a grade-E Golden-horn Rat "
