Chapter 54 - Zhou Kerr

Zhang Yi's attitude towards the female homeowners' messages was quite nonchalant. He found most of the messages to be just some interesting little compositions that he couldn't be bothered to respond to. Some women sent him selfies directly, but even those didn't pique his particular interest. He felt that these women were too confident, and while a few of them looked decent, most were just average in terms of looks.

Well, he didn't pay much attention to those messages from female homeowners. Some of them were entertaining, but he didn't bother replying. Some women even sent him selfies, but that didn't excite him much either. Many of these women seemed overly confident, and only a few caught his eye with their looks.

As for the test he mentioned, it seemed like an attempt to see if men could resist temptation. But come on, who could resist such a test? Some men showed their true colors, reaching out to Zhang Yi for help under the pretense of brotherhood. Others tried to emotionally manipulate him, asking him to care for them.

And then there was one guy who made Zhang Yi feel utterly disgusted – a gay man. Zhang Yi didn't even want to discuss the requests this person made.

After going through all the messages, Zhang Yi got bored. He set up his phone on a stand and lazily sipped wine while enjoying the beautiful snowfall outside.

Two weeks passed, and the snow outside showed no signs of stopping. The whole city was completely covered in snow, and according to Zhang Yi's memory, in about a month, everything below the fourth floor would be submerged.

The snow seemed endless, and the city was practically buried. But Zhang Yi wasn't concerned. He didn't have any reason to venture outside. Searching for hope in this post-apocalyptic world was a futile effort for now, and he was confident in his survival abilities.

He considered going out for a change of scenery when most of the people in the building had likely perished. He even remembered having snowmobiles in his warehouse. Originally meant for a nearby city's artificial snow and ice park, they could still be useful in this snowy wasteland. With the right precautions, he could venture out safely and enjoy the fresh air.

He thought about leaving the house for a while to break the monotony. With his state-of-the-art winter gear and snowmobiles, he had no fear of the cold. Yet, he knew he had no urgent need to leave at the moment. He could wait for the right time, maybe after most of the people in the building had passed away.

As he continued scrolling through his neighbors' messages, one stood out to him – a message from Zhou Ke'er. Instead of seeking sympathy or sending private pictures, she was composed and asked for an exchange.

Zhou Ke'er's message caught his attention. She wasn't seeking pity or sending private pictures like others. She was calm and asked for an exchange. Zhang Yi recalled her as a tall, elegant woman working as a doctor in the city's first People's Hospital. She had a cold, abstinent demeanor, but he couldn't help but notice her attractive figure, especially in her black sweater during winter elevator encounters.

Zhang Yi admired her rationality; she didn't beg but presented her medical skills as an offer. In this post-apocalyptic world, having a competent doctor could be a valuable asset.

Having a skilled doctor around could be a game-changer in the post-apocalyptic world. He knew how crucial medical expertise was in this dangerous environment, and Zhou Ke'er seemed to have it all. Besides, he had observed a glimmer of humanity in her.

Zhang Yi pondered for a moment before responding to her, offering to provide food and medicine. He wanted something valuable in return, and he mentioned that the neighbors might turn hostile, seeking her help to be prepared.

Zhang Yi decided to offer her food and medicine in exchange for her medical services. It was a win-win situation. Additionally, having an insider's information about the neighbors' potential hostility would be helpful.

He could only hope that she would accept his offer and become an ally in his fortress. After all, with his well-prepared defenses, he was confident in surviving any potential threat.
