"What about me, Mother?" Lilith asked, even though she knew the answer in her head.
"At the weekend, you will catch a cold because you can't wait to attend the princess's birthday, and then, you don't want to infect the people there with your cold so you choose to stay at home." Lady Margaret found the perfect excuse.
Lilith pursed her lips slightly and bowed. "I understand Mother, if you will excuse me."
Lady Margaret nodded, feeling resentful in her mind, she was aware of Lilith's beauty, she was the type that upon wearing even a rag, it wouldn't do her beauty justice.
Lilith's life became boring, from sleeping to walking around alone in the dark, and soon, it was Saturday, a day before the princess's birthday.
Since only the nobles were invited, the commoners could only stand outside the large iron gate, wishing that they could at least catch sight of the noble princess.
All the noble ladies that had arrived earlier sat together, and some alone, but what was common was that all were dressed to nine, and were thankfully a bit aware to not dress to kill, after all, if they dress to kill, wouldn't that means that the princess can only dress to survive.
Soon, the carriage belonging to the Late Duke Edward's mansion was announced.
Many noble ladies sneered at the thought of how bad the days would have been for Lady Margaret, even though a polite smile was maintained on their lips.
As soon as Lady Margaret got out, she was followed by Carissa and then Averil.
Carissa was wearing a beautiful long white dress, the back of the dress was long as it swept after her, and the same goes for Averil too. Their hair was tied with expensive hairpins, cascading down their shoulders, if Lilith look like a succubus that descended from hell, then look like a fairy that just descended from heaven.
Many people glanced at them, wondering if it was the princess's birthday already. After all, with the way the twins dress, who wouldn't think that that day was the birthday?
And another weird thing was the rabbit Averil was holding in her arm, which lady in her right state of mind would go to a banquet with her pets, well, this shows how spoilt Miss Averil was.
Of course, no one dare to say this aloud, everyone was just minding their own business after exchanging formalities.
Lady Margaret and her daughters were taken to their rooms, well, a room near the princes.
"Averil, this rabbit is not going with us tomorrow to the banquet celebration," Carissa said, getting out of her dress.
"...I know, but this little thing is just so good to touch." Averil giggles, a hand petting the rabbit's fur.
Lilith for the first time knew that she has made the wrong choice. She transform into a little harmless creature to get into the palace with her step-siblings but somehow, she was caught by Averil in the carriage, who whispered to her that she was going to take care of her, and most importantly, prevent her from meeting that witch, Lilith.
Lilith felt speechless and tried to get out of Averil's hand but the latter didn't even let her go away from her sight.
And she was only freed after Averil's head hit the pillow.
Lilith also slept together with her, and soon, it was the next day.
Everyone was dressed up beautifully, all waiting to impress the princes.
Lilith was also locked in the room by Averil so as not to escape, anyway whatever, this didn't stop Lilith from doing what she was going to do.
After making sure that it is thirty minutes since they were gone, Lilith transformed into an ant, then get out and went to a secretive place and transform back into a rabbit.
According to her plan today, she was going to start her revenge from the first prince, as a matter of fact, he was the closest to the third prince.
The third prince was also born from a concubine thus, he felt some resentment toward the queen and didn't spend much time in the party.
Lilith made her way into his room, even though it was her first time, she was able to get there thanks to the map she got at the tavern that day.
She met some maids in the corridor, who didn't give a damn about seeing a rabbit.
When Lilith reached the first prince's corridor, it was quiet with no maids around, in fact, the surrounding was even a bit dark.
She stood at the door and was about to enter when she heard two voices.
"Bro–Brother, What did I do to deserve this death from you?" She heard a painful voice, and the end of the sentence was filled with weak groans.
"Because you know too much, dear brother, and... I will give you a hint of who was behind this." She heard the man's voice, the one that replay over her head time without numbers, the one that prompted her to come to the palace, the third prince himself.
