Chapter 26 - Sudden Attack.

After the testing, my caretaker, Alexia took me to a place she called 'dining hall'. chandeliers hung on the ceiling of the room, with air-conditioners placed at appropriate spots.

The chairs were made of cotton and silk with intricate designs that attracted attention. I'm sure the chair's beauty would serve as comfort to its occupant.

The table situated at the room center was made of timber, crafted efficiently to fit the room's elegance. The table mat was a masterpiece on its own.

"The Royals usually take their meals here." Alexia walked ahead of me, informing me on the matters of the room.

"Ever since the King got sick, things changed; his children grew distant, having ambitions to take the throne for themselves while his wives indulged in their pleasures; some going after youthful males and others supporting their children in their race for the throne."

It sounded like a tragic royal family story… fascinating. Still, I feel awkward; getting dragged into this family bout.

"Does the king not have any loyal subjects?" I inquired, still pondering on how he lost control of everything with such ease.

"More or less, he does have loyal subordinates. But there are more pressing matters than his family charade.

For instance, our neighboring communities seek to annex our resources."

Alexia replied with a shrug, caressing the fine mat spread over the tabletop.

Now I remember the dejected look on Hunter David's face. Even his words seemed to have hinted at the descent of the fortress.

"So the King is sick, his subordinates or anyone loyal to the crown have their hands filled with the aggressors, and his family is falling apart, which means… Kynburgh is heading to its end."

Summarizing every critical point in the situation, I discovered that for Kynburgh, the situation defined its doom.

Quite severe, indeed.

"I hope you now see why we need you?"

Must you bring up that topic, my dear caretaker?

"I'm just 12 years old… I don't see how my presence affects the situation."

I replied frankly, not bothering to mask my non-interest in the matter.

Alexia looked at me for a while, her constricting and relaxing muscles displaying her feelings.

"What would you like to eat… they can get it within ten minutes," Alexia inquired, closing the former discussion.

"Rice. You have it, right?"

Clap clap

She slammed her palms against each other, two females rushed in seconds later. "Prepare all available varieties of rice with their corresponding supplement."

After taking her order, the females exited the same way they came in.

Royal families truly live up to their names, commanding with signs like a clap. I had read records on royalty, so I wasn't a stranger to their lifestyle.

I immediately headed for the long table, taking my seat on the chair at the table's edge—a seat reserved for the head or an important figure.

Uhh… As I guessed, it is comfortable. It's Just like I'm on a massage chair.

"You can relax for a while, the food will be brought soon."

I actually thought Alexia would have issues with me inhabiting this particular chair, but it seems I was wrong, she has no issues with her tone of speech.

Creak

The doors of the room opened wide. Unlike when the attendants entered, it was noisy and disrespectful.

In my line of sight, a male bounced into the room, followed by who I figured out to be his attendant.

He is about 1.77 meters tall with a fair skin tone to match his bright blonde ponytail. He walked gracefully yet like a roaring Lion toward us, his obvious smirk telling me that he did not show up for anything good.

"What—"

Alexia was about to say something but was hindered by the blonde male, dressed in a red tunic and brown pants with a cape hung on his shoulder.

"A servant should know not to interfere in the matters of her 'master'. No?"

He said, sizing me up from the corner of his silver eyes.

I feel the contempt in his tone—more like I was a bug, standing before a bird of prey.

I could only giggle at my thoughts. He's such an aloof fellow, isn't he?

"May I know you?" I requested.

It's time I try other methods… last time I confirmed my physical strength using my enemies. This time, I'll confirm my emotional strength, using my enemies—no! There is only one of him, except his attendant wish to join the fun. So I'll address him as an 'enemy'.

"You are such a brazen kid," The male commented at a loss for words.

"Thanks for the compliment," I replied with a hint of sarcasm.

Simultaneously, I could see his fist tightening, followed by the muscles of his jaw as he gritted his teeth.

"Are you by chance messing with me, boy?" His deep voice echoed, the air around him changing.

I could feel it… he was at least on the same level as Alexia. This brings me to wonder more about my caretaker's origin.

From her features, I could tell she was younger than the male, and also, he seemed to be from the Royal family, which means, he should have more resources to train compared to Alexia.

"No, esteem sir. I truly appreciate your comments on my character." I uttered sincerely, surfacing the most charming smile I had in my arsenal.

"Lord Leopold, I believe we should end this meeting here. If you wish, we can exit this room." Alexia stated in a calm tone, giving a deep bow to the royalty.

"How many times must I say this bitch, scram!" His voice echoed, launching a sonic wave attack on Alexia.

Seems my idea of him being a bird of prey was not wrong; birds were the most common creature with this attack style.

I observed as the sonic wave headed for Alexia in slow motion. I believed Alexia should be able to defend against the attack, but as her master, I should prove my worth.

[Stay put!]

A voice very similar to Alexia's own echoed in my head, putting my movement to a halt.

This method of communication brought back bad memories as I recalled the incident of that day—how my parents communicated with me for the last time using this method.

I felt my world zooming in and out, it was similar to existing in a contracting and expanding plane with elastic properties. The universe was dyed with multi colors and from what was left of my sight, I saw the male, also known as Leopold, walking to me with upwards-curved lips.

It was clearly written on his face, he planned to end me!

But as he got close, I sighted a new figure entering the room. Just like Leopold, she had blonde hair. Is this place the home of blondes? Anyway, I have to get over this issue.

To my dismay, I blacked out.

Fuck! At such a crucial moment in the game. I actually might die for real this time.
