Tea parties are not a place where women sit leisurely and enjoy nature. In spite of this, it was a place where women stab each other with their words while maintaining a sweet smile on their faces.
Their position in the empire was their sword and their fancy clothes and jewels their shield. And Mary was standing there at war with other noble ladies.
Her position as a commoner or duchess would determine how sharp her weapon was.
Aurelia stared hard at Mary who smiled. The sharp glares of so many nobles at once would make a commoner cower. They have the habit of bowing their heads.
Aurelia was sure, a bit more pressure and Mary would give up. But..
"If I had the position of commoner, would I have arranged such a lavish tea party in your highness' rose garden? I thought you were smart, Aurelia. Do not disappoint me." Mary sighed as she looked at the other ladies hiding behind Aurelia.
