"But why do we need to lie?" Alec blinked his eyes and squirmed. He did not like lying to others, especially kids.
They would think he was noble and may not like him. He would not have liked a noble visiting him too.
"Because that way, everyone will think I am your real mother. I want everyone to believe I am your mother. Or what if? Someone came and claimed you one day!" She looked away.
Though she was proficient at lying, when she looked into his earnest eyes, she felt awful.
Even when she reminded herself that she was only lying to keep him safe, she could not get rid of the guilt she was feeling.
"Oh! You want to tell everyone that you are my mother?" he repeated repeatedly when she nodded her head.
