Avian had two suspects on his mind, Onyx and Valerie but if Onyx was the culprit, then things would be looking very ugly the next day because he wouldn't stand by and watch Lothaire kill his breed mate, but if it was Valerie whom he strongly suspected then he wouldn't give a fuck about her head rolling off the floor.
