Chapter 48 - Testing (2)

This time, without a roof or a ceiling to block Clay's ascent, he directly jumped hundreds of meters up in the sky before the gravity of the planet inevitably caught up with him. At this point, Clay who was already up high in the sky haven't thought of what would happen after he had jumped, thinking that he wouldn't actually shoot up to the sky, at most only a few meters, but that did not happen and well, here we are.

Soon, the realization struck Clay the moment he started falling.

'Crap. I haven't thought that far ahead' Clay thought as he awkwardly groped at the surrounding air to position himself better.

'If I could jump this high, surely my body can also withstand the impact of falling from this height, right?'

1 second... 2 seconds... 3 seconds... and then...

*Thud*

A muffled thud resounded.

Although Clay had landed on dirt, it had still created an impact crater as the dirt was too shallow and got dug up from Clay's landing.

Clay had landed face-first on the rough but soft ground thanks to him awkwardly groping around in the air which did more harm than good.

"Ugh" Clay slowly sat up from the crater that he had gouged up from the earth. His guess was right in thinking that his body could withstand the impact from falling, but landing face-first probably caused him a concussion from that height, even with his enhanced body. It was like a normal person jumping and then landing on their head. They could probably survive but they most definitely won't be unscathed. If Clay had only landed upright on his two feet then he would've been okay.

Sadly there were no ifs in this world and now Clay has to deal with a dull headache that sprang out from the back of his head.

'I guess no more testing today' Clay thought as he got up with a groan whilst clutching his head.

Clay looked around and saw the crater that he had made.

'Nope, I ain't gonna clean this up'

Taking out his map while rubbing the back of his head, Clay looked for his home with some difficulty as the pain from the headache was distracting his normally good eyesight.

'Hmm, maybe I can do one more small test?' Clay desperately needed to get the hang of his strength otherwise he might harm someone on accident and well, he didn't want to deal with that kind of trouble, so Clay shoved the pain of the migraine to the back of his head.

'No pun intended, hehe' laughed Clay in his head as he created a joke that wasn't funny at all.

Clay tucked the map back inside his trousers and readied his fist.

With a clear goal in mind, the goal being to thrust out his fist with the most power he could muster. Clay wanted to find out how much his full strength is compared to before when he was just at a measly level 3.

With a deep breath, Clay exerted all his power to punch the strongest punch he had ever done ever since he was born, targeted right at a tree he had found nearby.

Starting from the ground, traveling up to his feet, being accelerated by his ankles, further made faster with his knees up to his hips, up his spine, pushed with his shoulder, further being accelerated by his elbows and wrist, and finally getting stored in his fist. The kinetic energy generated by this series of actions was so immense, that when Clay's fist had only touched the target, the target being the tree, the target practically gave no resistance whatsoever, Clay felt like he was punching the air, but the reality was so much more different.

The tree that Clay had punched basically blew up and since the kinetic energy transferred from Clay's fist to the tree was so great, the tree couldn't withstand it and immediately broke down into tiny wooden fragments which contained all the momentum that came directly from Clay's fist.

The wooden fragments and other various debris inside the tree then shot out at an unbelievable speed that a normal person couldn't perceive with the naked eye.

Those fragments then struck other trees causing consecutive explosions which in turn created more fragments.

Dozens of trees in the forest were destroyed in this same way until it finally stopped in the 4th repetition.

Clay who was probably the only person to witness all this was awestruck at the destruction that he had caused with his own hands.

"H-holy crap, that was insane" Clay stuttered out as he looked at his hands.

It was only at this moment when he looked at himself that he realized how dirty he currently was. Some parts of his clothes were torn and most parts were covered in dirt and stains.

'Wow, how did I get this dirty?' Clay forgot that he had fallen hundreds of meters from the sky landing on a ground covered with dirt and mud.

'Anyway, note to self, never move with full force, don't wanna be hurting anyone by accident'

This incident opened Clay's eyes to how disastrous the consequences would be if he had hit a person instead of a tree.

'I think it's time to go back?' Clay thought as he looked at the sky seeing that it was beginning to turn nighttime.

The adrenaline that came from witnessing a small deforestation event was wearing off so now the same headache was coming back, causing Clay to clutch his head again.

'Ugh, I definitely need some rest'

Clay took out his map, this time he was going home, with no distractions... definitely...

Suddenly, Clay heard a rustle coming from the forest.

The destroyed trees were in the way so Clay couldn't really see what was moving in the forest, for all Clay knew, the rustle could be coming from a tree that was falling.

But it was not a falling tree as the rustling sounds drew closer and closer.
