Chapter 11 - New Quest

As Clay finished creating the maps he wanted to go out and sell his services immediately. He pictured a stand with 5 maps on the table and many people lining up to use his wares.

Clay snapped out of his daydream only when a system notification sounded.

*Ding!*

'Open it'

Clay pondered for a while.

'I have an F class system, so why do I keep getting quests? this doesn't make any sense' Clay squinted his eyes at the quest, even he, who wouldn't question suspicious things now began feeling that he was having too smooth a sailing.

'Meh, doesn't change the fact that it's the only way to get stronger'

'Accept'

*Ding!*

'A blank scroll, a quality quill, and a jar of fine ink. I think I have seen the blank scroll in the shop already, but the ink and quill on the other hand, I haven't seen them yet' Clay thought about where to get these items.

'Looks like I gotta push forward the day of the grand opening of Clay's Maps... Never mind I'm gonna choose another name' Clay thought as he remembered the map store he had visited that had the same name idea.

'How about Ethereal Views hmm, yep that sounds catchy and good enough, and if it's not good I can just change it in the future' Little did Clay know that the name he chose with a willful thought would be a name that would stick with him until he could no longer change it.

'System open shop'

Clay tapped at the only available purchasable option.

Quality Quill|

[Yes/No]

Seeing that the price of the |Quality Quill| was more than half of what he had Clay decided to not buy it.

'System search up fine ink'

*Ding!*

<52 results containing 'Jar', 'of', 'Fine', and 'Ink'>

Jar of Fine Ink|

\Ink created from well-grown plants and herbs mixed with other materials/

Requirements: 15 SC, Level 3|

Purchase?|

[Yes/No]

Also costing more than half of the SC Clay currently possesses, he decided not to buy it as well, thinking that buying it from the real world would be much more efficient as he could not afford to waste any SC.

'Selling the maps it is then' Clay nodded.

The next day.

The sun was at its peak as Clay had set up a stand in front of his house, with a wooden sign saying 'Ethereal Views' being laid down on the floor leaning on the desk with maps on top, it was Clay's desk that he brought out of the house, along with the clothes inside the drawers.

Clay waited patiently... For about 5 minutes before screaming in his mind.

'WHY IS NO ONE GOING TO MY STAND?!' Clay couldn't stand being outside while the sun was blasting in full heat.

Sweating buckets, Clay tried thinking of how to get someone to try out his map.

'OH, I COULD JUST GIVE THEM A FREE TRY-OUT OF MY MAP, WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT SOONER' Clay screamed mentally as he couldn't act calm under the scorching sun.

Clay then went up to a passerby and asked him if he wanted to try out using his map, he explained to him how it would work, and to Clay's surprise, he agreed.

"Basically to use the map you need to think of where in the map you would like to look at, then If you have a system a screen would appear showing you a view of what that area is in real-time, you have a system right?" Clay informed the man who was wearing casual clothes with brown trousers and a blue collared shirt.

"Yes, I do have a system" The man replied.

"Great! So here are our map options, you can choose any of them for free but if you want to use it again you would need to pay coin, 10 cit to be exact" Clay brought the man to his stand showing him the maps that he could choose from.

"Hmm, I'll choose the map on the right please" the man said.

"Sure, just think of the place you want to see on the map and a screen would appear" Clay reminded again as he passed the map to the man.

The man held the map and soon he began focusing on the air in front of him as his eyes widened.

Meanwhile, Clay decisively took the map from the man's hand and tried to check his reaction.

The man regained clarity and began asking Clay why he took the map.

"Well, sir, it was just a try-out, if you want to use the map for ten minutes it would cost 10 cit" Clay firmly stated, as he knew that if he hadn't placed any limit then people wouldn't pay to use the map as they would have already lost interest. 10 Cit was valued at 1/10 of 1 Silt, a Silt converted to cit is equal to 100 cit, and 100 Silt is equal to 1 Gil.

The man agreed, paying the sum after rummaging through his pockets. Clay was delighted at already seeing some money going into his hands.

Clay gave the map to the man and left him to his own devices for 10 minutes while Clay was busy looking for more customers.

Time passed, the sun was down and the moon was up and Clay was looking at the profit that he had made today, smiling from ear to ear.
