Sweat runs down my face as the beaming sun rays continue to shine down on me. My breath is fast and ragged as I try to pause in the middle of the forest during my run.
“Are you okay Davina?”
I look up to see Ethan stop running just a little ahead of me.
“I’m fine. I’ll catch up, don’t worry about me.”
I try to wave him off, but he ignores me as he walks back to join me.
“Just forget about her, Ethan. She just doesn’t have what it takes to be our Luna. She is too weak and not strong enough,” Alec says laughing a few feet away from us.
“She has only been training for a few weeks, leave her alone.”
I grab Ethan’s hand in mine and shake my head.
“Just ignore him. I’m fine. Let’s go or else we won't be able to catch up in time.”
Ethan stays beside me as we continue our run through the woods until we arrive back at the clearing. My feet feel numb as I collapse onto the forest floor.
