Chereads / The Divided Heart Series / Chapter 6 - Hearing Fairytales

Chapter 6 - Hearing Fairytales

Something hits me and I abruptly wake up.

"Ouch, what was that for?"

Looking up, I see Josh standing over me in the living room.

"You were still sleeping."

"That does not mean you can just go ahead and kick me," I say scolding him.

"Well you should probably get ready for school because we are leaving in ten minutes."

"How did you even get in here anyways," I ask as I slowly get up off the living room floor.

"Lauren let me and the other guys in."

"Oh, okay. I guess that is fine then."

I look once more up at Josh before running up the stairs to get dressed for school. When I come back downstairs, the girls are already dressed and are waiting on me with the guys.

"Come on, we need to all pile into our cars and head to school before we are late," Stephanie suggest.

"Okay, you can drive my car if you want to school and then catch a ride home with Lauren later," I say as I toss my car keys to her.

She catches them and starts heading out the door to the cars outside. Before I can make it through the door, someone suddenly comes up behind me and taps me on the shoulder.

"Are you ready for school?"

I plaster a fake smile on my face as I turn around to meet Damon.

'If only I had thought of a new plan to distract the school from the whole Josh and I situation, then I would not have to pretend to be into Damon. It is not that he is a bad guy, he is actually very sweet and good looking but is it enough? It is mainly just the fact that I am not ready to be in a relationship just yet with anyone.'

Suddenly the image of Alexander pops up into my mind.

'Would it be so bad to be in a relationship if it was with a guy who looked as good as he does? I shake my head at my inappropriate thoughts. What am I thinking right now?'

"Sure," I say as I let my thoughts drift away.

He bends down to plant a kiss on my lips.

"What was that for," I asked, completely taken back with shock.

"This is just my way of telling you that I like you."

"Are you trying to ask me out?"

He grins as his face begins to turn a reddish color.

"Well yeah, I was thinking about it."

'This cannot be more perfect for me, I guess. I did want to distract the student body from the whole Josh fiasco and what better way than to act like I am actually dating someone else. Maybe this whole plan will work after all.'

"Then yes, I will go out with you."

He smiles and bends down to kiss me once more. Going along with the whole relationship show, I take his hand in mine as we walk hand in hand outside when Stephanie suddenly honks the horn at us.

"Come on you two love birds, if you do not hurry up we are going to be late to school."

I sit down in the back seat of my car and pull Damon beside me.

"Calm down Stephanie, you know we are not going to be late with your driving skills."

She steps on the gas as she laughs at me and we arrive at school in less than ten minutes later.

'A new personal best for her driving skills if I do say so myself.'

Everyone climbs out of the three vehicles and starts heading to their lockers before going to first period. I continue to plaster a fake smile on my face as Damon follows me to my locker before escorting me to our first period class where we both take our seats. Lauren smiles and sits down on the other side of me.

"What do you think we are going to be doing today," I ask her.

"I have no idea, hopefully we will not be doing anything today."

I laugh, "yeah I highly doubt that we will just get to sit here and not do anything for the whole class period, nice joke."

Miss Settles walks in then and stands at the front of the classroom with a stance of importance.

"Class, we will be having a new student join us today. Please welcome Alexander Sangre."

I look over at Lauren with a surprised expression on my face. She looks back at me and gasp with excitement. We both turn to the front of the classroom just in time to see Alexander walking in through the door. My eyes scan over him as I notice he is wearing dark blue jeans with a plain red t-shirt this time. His gorgeous dark brown eyes find mine as he smiles. I keep staring at him as I find myself entranced by his appearance. He eventually winks at me as I shyly look away while blushing.

"He is all the way from Spain so let us try to make him feel right at home and welcomed here. Now where would you like to sit," Miss Settles asks.

I watch as Alexander abruptly walks over and looks Miss Settles in the eye and whispers something, we as a class cannot hear. When he finally steps back away from her, she has a big grin on her face.

"Damon, would you be so kind as to come and seat up front for me please so Alexander may have your seat," she says looking over to the left side of me.

Damon looks over at me with a confused and saddened expression on his face before looking back up to Miss Settles.

"I do not want to sit up in the front of the classroom. I would much rather stay where I am."

Miss Settles frowns.

"We should not be making a fuss of this, come up here and sit in this chair up front now."

'Damon obviously is upset and does not want to move seats but he has to because it is what the teacher has asked him to do.'

Frowning, he grabs his things and moves to the front of the classroom in the only empty seat left. Alexander thanks him before walking to the back of the room to sit in the now empty seat beside me on the left. I look over at Lauren to see her reaction as she hands me a note.

Never would I have thought of seeing that delicious looking man again.

I thought so too and yes he is good looking but why is he here?

He is a new student obviously but my thing is why did he want that particular seat?

I have no idea but I find it creepy to be honest.

I think it is sweet of him. He obviously wants to sit by you and he is very hot too.

I put the note away in my purse before Miss Settles can catch us with it. I turn back around and look over at Alexander to see him already looking over at me. He catches my eye and starts shaking his head at me.

"You should not be writing notes in class, it is actually quite rude," he whispers.

"I am not really worried about it in this class."

Miss Settles begins to write our notes for the day on the whiteboard at the front of the classroom. After copying them down, I decide to day dream a little while everyone else catches up.

**

I have just gotten up out of my bed in Andalucia as I hear birds chirping right outside my window along the balcony. Looking down, I notice I am in a pair of unrecognizable pajamas so I walk over to the huge walk-in closet to throw a robe on before heading down the stairs to meet my parents. I find them waiting at the end of the staircase for me in the ballroom.

"How did you sleep my dear," my father asks.

"Quite well, I believe."

"That is great, we were hoping we could talk to you for a little bit. We have some news for you and we are not sure how you are going to take it, to be honest."

I look from my father to my mother and ask, "what is the news you need to tell me?"

"We wanted to let you know who you really are. It has come time for you to know the truth and this is the only way you are going to believe us so we need you to drink this," she says as she hands me a glass that seems to be filled with something red.

"What is it?"

"Do not worry about that, just drink it and you will know."

"I do not want to drink this. So just tell me what is in it."

"You have to drink it," she says as she pushes the glass toward my face.

A hint of a metallic smell hits my nostrils as I decide it is better to just do what my parents say instead of standing here arguing with them. Sighing, I take a small sip of the unknown red liquid inside the glass. Surprisingly, it tastes like pure pleasure running down my throat and I find myself extremely dry mouth and thirsty all of a sudden. I drink the rest of the glass before handing it back to my parents.

"That was really good, what was it," I ask with curiouslity.

"We do not want you to freak out because this is the only way you would believe us on what we are about to tell you but it was blood that was in the glass."

"What?!?! What do you mean it was blood? Why in the world would you make me drink something like that? What is wrong with you two?"

My mother looks from my father to me.

"It was a test to see how you would react to drinking the blood. Usually young or teen vampires do not grow their fangs until they drink their first sip of blood. We wanted to just help you move on to the process itself."

My mother's words hit me hard as I try not to laugh at her, but end up failing miserably. Laughter shakes my body as tears slip from my eyes.

"Man, this is too funny. You really had me for a second. I cannot believe you would try to make me drink blood and tell me that I am a vampire when I know none of that stuff is real."

"It is real honey; the red liquid in the glass was blood and you are a vampire but that is not all," my father replies back in a serious stern voice.

The blood in my veins run cold as I am frozen by my father's words.

'There is no way this is real, is it?'

"Wait, what?!? You two are being completely serious right now? There is no way in hell I am actually a vampire."

I immediately turn away from my parents and run up the staircase to my bedroom as I ignore the pleads and shouts from my parents. Throwing myself down on my bed, I begin to cry.

'What is happening right now? Why are my parents being like this and why are they saying all these things to me that cannot possibly be true?'

There is a sudden knock on my door that interrupts my thoughts. I crawl up out of my bed to go answer the door. To my surprise, no one is standing on the other side of my bedroom door. I look around both sides of the hallway before glancing down at the floor. The only thing I see is a trail of rose petals that have suddenly appeared out of nowhere and are leading down the dark hallway to the right of my room. Taking a deep breath, I shut the door behind me and decide to follow the trail down the hall until I come to a part of it where they abruptly stop. I look up from the floor to look around but do not see anyone anywhere around me. Suddenly something moves in the dark corner across from me.

"Who is there," I ask completely scared.

A dark figure peels itself off the wall and steps out into the light of the hallway as I gasp.

"Alexander, what are you doing here," I ask with shock.

"Surprised to see me, are you?"

"A little bit, yes."

He smiles and it is then that I notice his teeth are sharper than they should be. Fear starts running through me as I try to take a step back away from him.

"Your parents wanted me to tell you the other part you need to know about yourself."

"Look Alexander, I do not want to hear anymore of what you or my parents have to say. I am going back to my room."

I turn to walk away from him but suddenly come face to face with Alexander again who is standing right in front of me.

"How did you do that," I ask.

"Do you not want to know that you are royalty," he asks, completely evading my question.

His voice sounds like soft silk running over my body everytime he speaks. He takes his hand and runs it down my cheek and continues to move down my arm to rest it at my waist as he tugs me toward him. My eyes feel like they are rolling back into my head as I continue to crave his gentle touch.

"You are a princess and you are to be married before you become queen."

I get ready to ask him to repeat what he just said when I hear a bell suddenly ring around me.

**

I wake up immediately from my day dream and see that everyone is leaving the classroom.

'So much for paying attention in class today.'

I grab the rest of my things and rush out of the room to head to my second period in the library. During the rest of my classes before lunch, I try to pay more attention in class while also trying to figure out what my crazy daydream means and what it is trying to tell me.

'Why would I dream of Alexander and why can I not get him out of my mind lately?'

By the time I get to lunch everyone is already seated at our table. I grab a chair and sit down between Lauren and Stephanie.

"Well, we were right about him being a new student."

"Yeah, I want to know how come he made me move out of my seat in first period," Damon says, complaining.

"Wait, he made you move so he could have the seat you were already sitting in," Josh ask.

"What does this kid even look like," Stephanie asks, chiming in.

"He is over there sitting down," I say, pointing over three tables away.

"Wow, he is smoking hot," Stephanie exclaims, smiling.

"Sure if you like the whole tough guy act and bossy type," Damon replies.

I look over at Alexander to see he is sitting all by himself.

"He is not bossy necessarily, maybe he just wanted a certain seat in the classroom," I imply to my friends.

When I say this, Alexander looks up right at my table and smiles at me. I smile at him as he winks back at me.

"Okay so maybe he is not bossy, but now I have a problem because I cannot sit by my girl."

I look over at Damon and try not to roll my eyes as I plaster a fake smile on my face.

'His girl? How can this be moving so fast? Is this even still a good idea to fake a relationship with him on my part? I mean yes he is kind of good looking but is it even worth it. I should just play it off for now.'

"You get to sit behind me in seventh period still."

"Yeah I guess that will have to do," he says smiling.

Everyone starts talking about the rest of the week while I just sit back and listen to their conversations. The bell rings eventually and we all sadly have to go to our next class.

"See you in last period," Damon says, walking away.

"Yeah, see you."

I walk from the cafeteria to sixth period by myself, hoping this day will get better. Being in sixth period does not help at all. Instead of paying attention to the teacher, I spend the whole time drawing in my notebook and dozing off into space. When the bell rings for seventh period English, I grab my stuff and head there to class. Walking into the room, I feel a chill run down my spine suddenly. I turn around to see Alexander is standing right behind me.

"Hello Celeste," he says.

His voice comes out so soft and smooth like silk. My knees begin to tremble and I feel like I am going to collapse, when Alexander reaches out to grab my arm.

"Careful there, you do not want to fall," he whispers in my ear smiling.

My eyes look down to where he is gently grasping my arm and the thought of being wrapped in his arms suddenly pops in my head.

"Um, thank you Alexander," I say, finally finding my words.

I reluctantly pull out of his grasp and walk over to sit down in my seat, making sure not to make any eye contact with anyone. When I do finally look up, Damon walks in the room with a big grin on his face.

"Hello gorgeous," he says, sitting down.

"You seem like you are definitely in a better mood that you were earlier."

"Why, should I not be in a good mood? I get to sit by you so yeah I am better than earlier."

"Well that is very sweet of you to say."

Miss Taylor walks in then carrying a stack of movies in her hands before sitting them down on her desk at the front of the classroom. She turns to the class.

"In honor of having a new student, we are going to be doing one of my favorite activities that is more fun that what you all have been working on lately. You will all be watching a movie and have to find all the hidden subliminal messages that are contained in the given movie. The person who finds the most subliminal messages in the movie will receive five extra bonus points on their vocabulary quiz next week. Alexander, you may go ahead and pick a seat anywhere that is available."

He looks around the room, scanning all the empty seats. When his eyes meet mine, he stops and stares at me for a few more seconds. He grins and starts walking over to sit in the seat right to the left of me. I peek over at him, trying not to be so obvious. He looks over at me at the same time and smiles.

"Hello again Miss Dragomir."

"Hello Alexander."

"I hope your day has been going very well."

"My day is going just fine. Thank you for asking. How is your first day going?"

"It is going pretty well actually, especially right now."

I feel my face begin to turn a shade of red as I turn toward the front of the room, hoping Alexander did not see me blush at his comment.

'He could not be referring to me, can he?'

I shake the thoughts from my head and try to focus on the movie that Miss Taylor has already started. Damon tries to keep getting my attention during class but instead of answering him, I just ignore him and try to continue watching the movie. When the bell rings to go home, I try to grab my stuff and leave so fast that I end up dropping all of it on the floor instead. I bend down to pick it all up.

'Ugh, way to go Audrey. Why in the world am I such a klutz?'

"Here, let me help you with that."

I look up, connecting my eyes with Alexander's.

"You do not need to do that. I have it all."

"A girl from your descendants should not be picking things up off the floor. You should have people doing that for you," he says, picking my books up off the floor and handing them to me.

'Is he serious right now? What is that supposed to mean?'

"Excuse me but what did you just say to me? I am not sure I understand what you mean."

"I am truly sorry, I would like to talk some more but I have somewhere I have to be. I will see you again very soon Celeste."

He walks out of the room and down the hall in a fastly manner.

'Wait, did he just use my birth name again? How does he know that name? I swear that I have not told anyone that name, not even my close friends.'

By the time I get out into the hallway to find him and ask how he knows my legal name, he is completely gone already. When I finally get home, I throw my book bag into my bedroom and head up the stairs to the attic.

'Who actually is Alexander? How does he know my legal birth name and why does he keep calling me by it? Why does his presence affect me so much and why can I not get him out of my mind? I am so confused about Alexander and need someone to talk to. If anyone can help me figure this whole thing out, it should be my mother.'

I open the attic door and walk over to the other side of the attic to the secret hidden door. Taking a moment to relax, I then move the curtain aside, grab the door handle to open it, and walk through the threshold to the other world I now also belong to.

* * * *

When I open my eyes again, I see my mother is already sitting on my bed, waiting for me.

"I was hoping you were going to come see us again sometime soon."

"Yeah, I am sorry. I had school today and I need to talk to you about something that has been bothering me," I say as I take a seat beside her on my new bed.

"What is it sweetie? What do you need to talk to me about?"

"I think I am having some boy trouble," I admit.

She immediately pulls away from me to stand up from the bed.

"Celeste, I hate to be the one to tell you this but you cannot be having any boy trouble because you are not allowed to have a boyfriend."

"Please call me Audrey, I already told you I prefer it over Celeste and what do you mean exactly when you say I cannot have a boyfriend?"

"First off, your name is Celeste Audriana Dragomir and I will call you by your legal name whether you want me to or not so you need to get use to it. Second, I wanted to wait to tell you this but something tells me I should do it now before things get any worse."

"What are you talking about? What do you mean before things get any worse? I do not understand any of this and why are you telling me I cannot have a boyfriend? What is wrong with me liking a guy or having a boyfriend?"

"Look Celeste, you were born a princess," she says as she sits back down beside me on the bed.

"A princess?"

'Surely she has got to be joking right?'

I start laughing at the possibility of me ever being a princess and believing in fairytales being real.

'She is just too funny. Everyone knows that princesses are just for fantasy fiction talk unless you are actually born into nobility or a royal bloodline but even then, the idea is so out of this world and unreal. What she is suggesting is completely insane and just a bunch of fantasy talk.'

"Yes, you are indeed a princess. When you turn eighteen and are graduated from high school, you are to be married and take my place as queen of Andalucia."

My laughter continues as I listen to my mother.

"So you are saying that I am some kind of princess, that I have to get married, and become queen? Wow, that is just too funny for me to handle, but no seriously what did you want to talk to me about?"

"This is what I wanted to talk to you about. I am being serious when I say that you are a princess and are to be wedded to become queen. Your father and I did a lot of thinking when you were born and thought that if you grew up in human world, it might give you more opportunities to learn different views and cultures. We figured it would be best and you could use your education to help Andalucia prosper in a way we have not before. For years we have watched you grow up, waiting until you were ready and found your way back to us."

"You have got to be joking? There is no way that I am going to believe that I am a princess, let alone that you are queen of this place and I have to take your place someday."

My mother takes my hand and leads me out onto the balcony.

"Tell me Celeste, what do you see?"

"Mom, why are we doing this? I already said I do not believe you."

"Just tell me what you see."

"Ugh fine. I see flowers, trees, and houses that are in the distance. Is that what you wanted to hear?"

"Not quite, do you want to know what I see?"

"Sure, why not?"

"I see a magical kingdom that is flourishing in nature. I see a town of people who love this place called Andalucia and who will do anything to help their neighbors. I also see our palace walls and our flags flying in the wind, both representing how strong our nation is. You see Celeste, you see trees and flowers because you are not actually looking with your heart or soul but only with your eyes. As a princess, it is your job to help your nation and people to prosper and be the best they can be."

'Again with the whole princess thing? How long is she going to keep this up?'

"Okay, fine. Say I do believe you, which I do not, then why can I still not have a boyfriend?"

My mother sighs.

"Celeste you are to be wedded to a prince to help make our nation stronger and to combine our two kingdoms. It has been proclaimed and decided upon for many years now. We cannot go back on our word on this."

"Seriously? You want me to basically have an arranged marriage? Please tell me you are just kidding and are not being serious."

"I can say with absolute certainty that I am not kidding."

"Are you crazy?!? There is no way I am having an arranged marriage and you cannot make me do it."

"Celeste Audriana Dragomir, I am your mother and you will do as I say! You will follow our word and will get married when you are of age and you will take my place as queen whether you like it or not!"

"Why should I listen to anything you say? You have never been there for me growing up, so why should I let you be a part of my life now?"

"I know you are upset, but we have been watching over you. We have always been there whether you knew it or not. Unfortunately we could never leave Andalucia for long to come visit you because someone had to watch over the kingdom. I am sorry you had to find everything out this way but it is important that you know for when the time comes."

I look down at the floor as my mother wraps her arms around me in a hug.

'To be honest, nothing that she has said makes sense but then again, why would my mother lie about something so big like this? Should I believe her about me being a princess and if it is true then what does that mean for me now? I do not believe her but is it worth it to just keep fighting her or should I just go along with it?'

I take a deep sigh.

"Okay so let me say that I am just going to go along with all of this for now, what does that mean next for me?"

"Your father and I have missed you terribly and would love it if you would consider spending your nights here in your new bedroom so we can all spend some time together."

"If I do start staying here more often, can I still go to school and hangout with my friends?"

"Of course sweetie. Your father and I want you to finish getting your education and we would never take you away from your friends. We just want to spend some more time with you and figured if you stayed here, then you could get to know Andalucia better as well."

"Thanks mom, I love you," I say wrapping her in my arms for another hug.

"I love you too Celeste. You may stay for dinner if you would like but something tells me you should stop by at the old house before coming down for dinner. If I am right, you have a visitor," she says as she walks over to open the new bedroom door leading to the hallway.

"How did you know that?"

"Let us just call it a mother's intuition."

I watch her take her leave and walk out of my new bedroom, closing the door behind her. After a few minutes of staring after her, I finally get up off the bed and walk through the door to my other home.

* * * *

Heading down the stairs, I can hear a faint knocking coming from the front door. I walk over to the door and open it to see Josh randomly standing on my front porch.

"Can I help you," I ask with confusion.

"Yeah, I was hoping to come apologize to you and maybe see if we could talk."

"Apologize and talk? What about exactly?"

"About our date and how I have been acting so weird lately to you. Please Audrey?"

I sigh, "um sure, yeah. Come on in."

He walks through the threshold and around me to walk over to the couch to sit down. I close the front door before walking over and sitting down beside him on the couch.

"So what do you want to talk about first?"

"I really should apologize."

"What are you apologizing for exactly?"

"When I told you that I liked you at Adam's party, I meant it."

'Why in the world is he bringing all of this up now? Why wait until now and try to talk about all of it? Is it really bothering him that badly that he finally wants closure on all of it?'

"The next day I asked you to go to the movies with me and I acted like you did not even exist after that day. It was terrible of me and I am truly sorry for my behavior and the way I acted. I guess I got cold feet and was not sure if you even liked me back. Actually, I convinced myself after awhile that I was right and you did not."

"But I told you I did."

"Actually you never did tell me to my face that you like me. I had just assumed you did when I kissed you and you did not pull away. Plus I thought you said you did when I heard you talking about me at lunch but I still was not sure."

"Josh, this is not a big deal. We went out in hope to stop people talking about us being a potential couple and to see if we could actually work together. We now know that we do not work as an official couple. I like you Josh, I really do but more as a friend. I hope you are not mad at me."

"Why would I be?"

"I just thought you might be mad because I have been kind of avoiding you since that day we went to the movies."

"Josh, it is fine. I completely understand why and I do not blame you. We are still friends so do not worry about it. Plus my mother will not let me have a boyfriend so it is not like we could have dated anyways."

"What about Damon though?"

"Oh, I am just having fun and hanging out with him as a friend. It honestly is nothing serious, I was actually trying to hangout with him so people would stop talking about the date you and I went on."

"So you two are not actually dating then?"

"Nope, just hanging out as friends."

"If I may ask, why did your mother say you cannot have a boyfriend anyway?"

"It is a very long complicating story but I am going to find a way to just continue to be myself by having fun."

"Well as long as you are happy, that is all that matters."

"I am happy as long as we can put all of this behind us and still be friends."

He smiles, "of course I will still be your friend."

"Then I forgive you for avoiding me."

He wraps his arms around me in a hug.

"Thank you," he whispers in my ear.

Suddenly a mystique fragrance hits my nose as I hug him back. My mouth begins to water as I frown in confusion. I quickly let go as he speaks up.

"I should probably get home for dinner, would you like to join us?"

"Actually I already have plans for tonight, but thank you though."

"I will see you tomorrow at school then," he says as he opens the front door.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

I watch as he shuts the door to leave and I begin to wonder what that sudden strange smell was. Quickly I climb up the stairs to the attic.

'Hopefully the invitation is still available and I am not too late for dinner.'

* * * *

When I enter my new bedroom, all is completely quiet. I would have figured that someone would be waiting for me but no one is in sight. I open the bedroom door leading to the hallway and start to head toward the ballroom down the stairs. When I turn to go into the dining room, I find myself almost running into someone suddenly.

"Oh, hello Charles. I am very sorry."

"It is okay Miss Dragomir, I was actually just on my way to come and fetch you for dinner."

"Oh, thank you."

He walks out the dining room door as I look over and see both of my parents waiting for me to join them at the table. I walk over and sit right across from them in the chair.

"You made it right on time. Princesses should always be on time for anything," my mother says, smiling.

'Seriously? She is still going on with this whole princess thing? I guess I will just ignore it for the time being.'

"I was hoping I was not going to be late. I would not miss having dinner with you guys for anything."

"We are glad you said that. We have been thinking an awful lot and we think you should stay here from now on. You can still continue to go to school and hangout with your friends, but you should be here most of the time so you can start your princess duties. We would like you to get to know everything before the wedding," my father explains.

"Can we talk about this whole wedding thing," I ask.

My father frowns.

"No, you have to get married so our beautiful country will survive. We do not want to hear any arguing on the subject."

"There is no way I am getting married. I am just a senior in high school and am too young to get married."

"We are not going to sit here and argue about this. We can talk about it later but not right now," my father says sternly.

"Fine," I say, giving up.

"Well, now that we have settled that, we should go ahead and eat."

The waiters then suddenly come from a door somewhere behind me to carry trays full of ham, potatoes, corn, gravy and hot rolls. They drop off the trays in the middle of the table before filling out plates for us then heading back into the kitchen. After eating in quiet for a couple minutes, it is my mother who finally breaks the silence.

"How has school been going lately?"

"It has been good I guess since we have been mostly doing notes and watching movies. Usually we would not watch movies but we have a new student this week so my teacher thought it would be a good idea to do subliminal messaging with movies."

"A new student huh? What is their name?"

"His name is Alexander Sangre. He is super sweet and definitely good looking from what I can tell so far."

My mother looks at my father and smiles.

'What in the world is going on? Why do they both seem super happy right now? Did they not say that I cannot have a boyfriend? So why are they both smiling like this after I said the new guy is basically hot?'

"He sounds very nice," she says.

"Yeah he is but I am kind of hanging out with someone right now, plus there is this whole wedding thing you both want to happen. So when can I meet this so-called fiance of mine anyway?"

"Very soon," dad says smiling once again.

I take one last drink of the red wine in front of me before excusing myself for the night.

"Get some sleep sweetie, we will see you tomorrow."

I give my parents both a kiss on the cheek before walking up to my room to lay down on my bed. Within minutes I am sound asleep.
