Vince sat in the chair next to the bed and stroked her head affectionately. "You're going to be a mommy."
"What?" Lydia didn't respond for a moment to the meaning of the words.
"You're pregnant." Vince said lovingly.
Lydia took a long time to receive this information, then her hand gently covered her belly.

Lydia desperately wanted to be sure of this news. She grabbed Vince's hand, "Why am I in the hospital? Why does my belly hurt? Is our baby okay?"
