Selene’s POV
I remember it was a summer afternoon. The old king vomited blood after coughing all night. The news spread throughout the palace overnight, and at dawn the next day, those who had asked to see the old king were already waiting at the palace gate.
They wore the most luxurious clothes, with guards, and spoke the most respectful words, but the shrewdness of their eyes was obvious.
Everyone wanted to make sure that the old king was going to die. If the old king dies, the first person to occupy the palace is most likely to get the crown and become the next king.
