Wave stares at Sun who was trembling. Is he that afraid of people? Somehow the older one felt guilty for what he said. I shouldn't have said that. He sighs. Must buy him lunch then apologize.
Wave took his jacket that was laying on his bed. After he puts it in, when he is about to leave, a hand stopped him. He almost fell when Sun grabs his sleeve. To his surprise, Wave looks at him.
" Rice and Chicken Biryani. " His eyes are still fixed on the younger one. Does he want rice and chicken biryani? Though he is still trembling, Sun repeats what he says without looking at him." I want rice and chicken biryani. "
Though he is shaking, his grip on Wave's sleeve is so tight. Afraid that the person in front of him will run away when he loosens his grip in just a second. Wave smiles, showing his dimple as beautiful as a black hole. Before he could speak, an idea pops into his mind. " Is that Thai food? " He asks, curious.
Hearing the question from the taller person, Sun was shocked instead of surprised. Is he a Thai or a foreigner? " Of course, it is. You don't know it? " Sun asks.
Wave can't look him in the eye. Trying to avoid the gaze from the nong, he looks around like it was his first time in the room. " Well, I don't know what it is. " He glances at the younger one who seems not convinced by what he says.
When Sun was about to speak, Wave invites him. He wraps his arm around Sun's shoulder, pulling him closer. " Why don't you come with me? " Smile wide, eyes on nong waiting for his answer.
Sun's eyes open wide. " N-no way. " He stutters as he throws the heavy hand resting atop his shoulder. There's no way I can go there with lots of people around. Again, he was shocked when Wave held his hand. It was tight as if he is holding his world. " Don't worry, I'm here. I won't let go of your hand. Trust me. " Wave assures him. Staring at the phi, tears start to form in Sun's eyes.
With his smile, Sun feels confident. With his stares, Sun feels brave. With his touch, Sun feels safe. He knew this feeling as he wasn't familiar with it. Aside from his grandmother, the person who stands in front of him is the only person who can make him feel those emotions.
Having Wave by his side, feels like he can do everything.
Though hesitating, Sun nods. Holding each other's hand, the two left the room. It was unfortunate that Wave didn't know that the nong he saw yesterday is his roommate and what's worse Sun's first impression of him wasn't good.
It was noon when he arrived at the campus dorm building. When he went to the front desk to get his key card he saw a young man talking to the lady who works there. Waiting for the two to finish talking, he unintentionally overheard their conversation.
" Can I change rooms? " Asks the younger guy who has wavy gray hair. " Why? " The lady stops typing on the keyboard. She looks at him and asks him back.
" Well... " His hands fidget. " My roommate is messy. Don't know how to organize things, doesn't know how to throw trash, doesn't know where to put his underwear. " He complains, brows furrowed.
Listening to the nong's complaints, Wave almost cracks a laugh at his straightforwardness. " There's no vacant room anymore. Every room already has owners. If you want you can ask someone to change rooms with you. "
After a few minutes, the younger one left with a dejected look. Somehow, Wave feels sorry for him. And today, when he found out that the nong who complained yesterday is his roommate, he feels guilty.
After a few minutes, the two arrived at the canteen on the first floor. The canteen is quite spacious but unlike the canteen on campus, it is bigger than here. The theme of the dorm's canteen is nature. The table is made of an oak tree as well as the chairs. The wall is mint green in color which blended perfectly with the plants and vines. The fresh and cool atmosphere that the air conditioner spreads out gives off a rainforest feel.
In front of the counter is a menu displayed. Mainly, the dish here focused on vegetables before but students who stays here whines about it so the dorm president decided to add meat and chicken to the menu.
The time doesn't hit noon yet a lot of students already came here to have lunch. Waiting in queue, Sun just keeps looking down, shaking. His hand still intertwined with Wave's.
The taller of the two glances at him. Seeing the still trembling nong, he pats the smaller's head. With the sudden action, the younger flinch and raises his head just to meet phi's gentle gaze.
Wave smiles at him. His smile is so calm and warm. Catching sight of that genuine act, heat rose to Sun's cheeks and his heart beats instantaneously. He immediately diverts his gaze away from the taller guy feeling shy. Wave giggles watching him. How cute. He thought.
While Wave orders their food, Sun, who is waiting for him, raises his hand placing it in his chest. His heart still beats crazily fast. What's wrong with me? He glances at Wave. Closing his eyes, inhale, exhale, repeating the action trying to put his heart at peace. " What are you doing? " Sun flinches from the sudden appearance of a deep voice.
After Wave got their order he hurriedly went to Sun's side, worried that the young man might be scared of being left behind. But when he saw the nong trying to calm himself, Wave can't help but smile.
Seems like the nong was lost in his thoughts as he wasn't aware of his presence. I wonder what he's thinking to make him look like that. He smiles, his eyes are full of adoration. " What are you doing? " He asks, holding a board with two plates of food he ordered for them.
Seeing the nong flinch, he giggles. " Wanna eat here or in our room? " Since the canteen in the dorm can't hold all the students to eat there, the dorm president approved letting the students eat in their room.
Our room? Just from the thought of those two words, he gets embarrassed. " I-in our room. " He stutters, face as red as a tomato. As always Wave smiles at him. " Let's go. " The phi invites, the nong nods in answer and follows him.
Wave close the door. The two people pace to the table with a circular shape near the window, atop it is a vase and a tissue. Sun sits first, quiet. Wave placed his order in front of him. " Here. Your rice and chicken biryani. "
" Thank you. " Sun puts his two palms together as he slightly bows at him. Wave also sits opposite to Sun. As the younger had his first bite, the older can't stop adoring him. He doesn't know why he feels so comfortable and cozy when he is with Sun, it's just the emotions came out naturally.
" Aren't you hungry? " Asks Sun with a confused look in his eyes. Wave nods. " Hmm. " The nong glimpse at his plate. " Then, you should eat it now or it'll get cold. " Wave answers the younger with a nod again.
Wave took the first bite of his order deep fried pork. Sun glances at him. Seeing the older enjoys his food, his lips curved subtly. The two eat their lunch in silence, letting the atmosphere speaks for them.
Warm and relaxing.
Awkwardness once again enveloped the place. After they eat, one is too shy to talk while the other one doesn't know how to open a topic. " Uhm... I'll bring our plate back to the canteen. " Wave volunteer. He stretches out his hand in front of Sun to get his plate but...
" Wait... " Sun grabs his hand that holds his plate. Hesitant. " Let me... " His sentence was cut off when Wave shake his head. " It's okay. Let me do it. " Wave said with a smile.
" I'm afraid that it will take you forever to bring this downstairs. " The older teases him. Sun bites his lips out of frustration. He let out a deep sigh whilst rolling his eyes. " Just kidding. " Wave added, patting the head of the younger. " You must be tired. Go take some rest. "
Sun brushes off his hand. " Don't pat me. We're not that close. " His gaze towards Wave is as sharp as a knife. " Yes. " Wave reply. His expression falls.
" I'll go now. " His tone sounds sad. Sun, though he's still mad at the taller person for teasing him, feels guilty. " I'm sorry. " He said, almost in a whisper.
Hearing an apology from the nong, Wave smiles. " It's okay. " He said before he face the younger. " So, we're friends now. Hmm. " He declares before he left the room.
Sun was stunned for a moment but then his lips form into a sweet smile. Maybe having one friend is fine. He thought. I should tell Grandma about this. Excitement and happiness are rare to see in him. Good thing he found someone who can make him feel those kinds of emotions.
