Chapter 12 - Compensation. (Part 2)

With a little shudder, the two guards stopped where they were.

Each of them was ready to rush to their boss's aid, but when they heard the young man's words, they immediately changed their minds about acting.

Their boss's life was at stake, and no one would take the risk of getting shot in the head.

"Don't move! Stay there, I'm fine! " Panicked, Milo stopped his guards.

Nodding approvingly, Gray tapped his head again with his gun.

"What do you want!!! I don't know any evolutionary!"

"Lie."

"Aah!"

Gray kicked him down and stepped on the toes of one of his hands.

"I'll ask you again, where is the evolved man of the mental type?"

Gray had already realized from his condition that this man was not an evolved man. Even the weakest, physical, and mental type has somebody's strength.

But by the crunch of the man's fingers, Grey had already guessed that no physical changes were taking place in him.

"Where's the man who attacked me half an hour ago?!"

"Aah! Wait, wait! I know!"

After stopping to break his fingers, Grey finally began to listen to him.

"She's in the next room! That's where they keep the old museum stuff!"

"Bring her in here!" Nodding, he looked at the two big men.

Only now did he notice that one of them had an imposing exterior.

'Power type? No... He doesn't give off a sense of power, and he doesn't hold himself with much confidence.'

"You heard what he said! Bring her here!"

A few minutes later, they brought in a girl whose face was whiter than a leaf and whose body wouldn't stop trembling. Her eyes were closed, and she could hardly stand on her own two feet.

"It's her! She used that power on you!"

Looking at the girl, Grey frowned slightly. There were bruises all over her body, and some parts of her body were tightly bandaged.

"Tell me, why was I attacked when I wasn't touching anyone?"

He looked at the girl questioningly.

Hearing this voice, the girl backed away frightened, and fell down, covering her head with her hands.

"Please, no! Don't touch me, I didn't mean to! I had no choice! They made me do it!"

"Was it true?"

Gray looked questioningly at Milo.

He only looked away silently. Gray dropped him to the floor again and began trampling the man's fingers into the floor even more aggressively.

"Aaah! Yes, yes! It's true, I made her do it... Aaah! But! But that's it! I don't know anything else!"

The young man's mood instantly worsened. He cocked the trigger and put the gun closer to Milo's head.

"Well, then, it's time to pay the bills."

"Stop! I only told her to scare you! I didn't tell her anything else! I really didn't!" Frightened, the man with the broken nose backed away.

Looking at the trembling girl, Gray asked her.

"Is it true?"

In response, he received a weak nod from the mentally traumatized girl. She didn't seem to be listening to him. But since she did confirm what she said, Gray had no choice but to step back.

"Okay. If that's the case, then order your men to carry enough provisions to fit four backpacks."

As he looked over the large pile of provisions, he suddenly noticed among them the very blade that had cut off his arm in the dream world.

"Also, take this blade away."

Waiting for the scarred man's orders to drag some guards over the food, he pointed the barrel at the two big men and asked them to leave.

"No hard feelings. You attacked me first. I'm in a pretty bad mood today and I don't want to spoil it anymore." As he approached the trembling girl, he turned to the man with a bloody nose.

"So let's part ways on this one. Those things I took as compensation for moral damages." After waving, Gray walked leisurely away toward the main hall.

He wasn't worried about his servants having firearms.

It was forbidden in the country for ordinary civilians to have guns. And what he found in the man's possession was a rather rare custom-made weapon. He probably kept it illegally, or he had powerful connections.

In the security room.

"Useless creature!"

With a sweeping blow, the man in the white jacket tossed the girl in the sweater aside.

"Mr... Mr. Milo, I..."

"Shut up!"

Angrily, the man watched as the blinded girl crawled across the floor, trying to find the direction of the man in the white jacket.

"I'm not interested in what happened there! All I know is that you failed!"

Again he snapped but quickly tried to calm down.

"I... I don't know what happened, really, please believe me! I'll do anything for you, just don't hurt my daughter, please!"

"Huh... Crazy bitch! Your sentence has doubled!"

"N-no! Please let us go! Please let us go!"

"Silence, bitch! You and your daughter are nothing but trouble if it weren't for your abilities..."

"Kha!"

Kicking his foot at the woman crawling toward him, Milo adjusted his jacket and looked out the panoramic window overlooking the main hall.

There, through the crowd of sleeping people, limping slightly, walked a young guy in a gray jacket.

'Fucking bitch... you made me lose my gun! And now this little bastard shows up at my door, daring to brazenly extort 30 percent of everything I own! All because of you!'

Kicking the girl again, he told the guards to take her away.

'That's all right... Just wait at my place! Tomorrow my little brother will come here, and then...'

Smiling at his reflection, he closed the window with the curtains.

"You'll be finished."

***

With a slight limp, Gray walked back the same way.

Along the way, he noticed the frightened glances of Milo's personal guards.

They avoided him and tried to keep him out of his sight.

Even though, Gray looked completely harmless and even a little battered.

The huge gun sticking out of his jacket told everyone how dangerous it was to piss this kid off.

Only now, on his way back, Gray noticed something.

The young man's attention was caught by the people sitting in the center of the hall.

Many of them were shaking and moaning in pain.

No one understood what was going on. Everyone thought they were sick in such terrible conditions, but the slightly frowning young man didn't think so.

Gray could see how many of them were trying to hide the fact that they were spitting blood. It was also their pupils, which were starting to blush slightly, that gave them all away.

'It has begun... From now on, the city will begin to chaos. We must wait until morning and get out of here.'

When Gray got up, he saw Werner leaning against the doorway.

"Are you all right? You look..." Concerned, Werner glanced at the way Gray was diligently pressing his hand against his ribs.

"Don't worry, let's go. Don't forget to barricade the door."

Tiredly, collapsing on the couch, Gray examined his arm and ribs.

There were no injuries, but he could clearly feel the burning in his arm and a couple of broken ribs.

'Damn mental type!'

"You want to tell me what happened in there? And... where did all that food come from?" Werner looked at a couple of backpacks and bags brought in by people who looked like someone's personal security guards.

"A simple heart-to-heart talk. " Gray said it like it was no big deal at all.

"...provisions? You don't mean it was just a present, do you?" Looking at the young man, Werner went to the window and opened the curtain.

The dense red fog gave off a slightly silvery red color.

"How did you know? You're not clairvoyant by any chance, are you?!" Gray made a surprised face and looked at the big frowning man.

"Okay, I admit it was a bad joke. By the way, I have a present for you." With difficulty, Grey stood up and walked over to the big, two-meter-tall man and handed him an equally large pistol with a beautiful gilded finish. "I think you know how to use it."

Werner looked at the gun and old memories began to surface in his mind.

He shook his head and said, "I swore to myself that I would never touch a gun again."

Gray just smiled. He limped over to the window and pulled the curtain wide open.

"Look. Is this the beautiful world it was just yesterday? People are dying by the millions all over the planet while you and I are standing here talking about it." Closing the curtain back up, he looked into Werner's eyes. " And this is just the beginning. Soon it's going to get a lot worse... You can't even imagine how much worse."

Handing this gun in his hand, he gave him a little advice with a smile: "So forget all your previous commitments. The world has changed. It's time for us to change, too. I think you know what I mean."

Werner said nothing in reply, he just stared thoughtfully at his reflection in the gold plate of his pistol.

"Don't worry, I'll be sure to help you find and keep your daughters safe." After patting Werner on the shoulder, the young man left to meditate at the other end of the room.
