Chereads / The Ape From Space / Chapter 46 - The Aftermath.

Chapter 46 - The Aftermath.

"How are you feeling squirt, hows your sister?" he asked, leaning near to the wall overlooking the reaches outside of Vale. Scorch marks and expelled cases were the norm when one would look outside the walls. The blood already washed away with the rain.

"I'm alright uncle Qrow, I'm just glad that this is all over." Ruby sighed loudly, she was leaning over the wall as she and he were one of many huntsmen on lookout for Grimm.

"...And, your sister, where's she at." Ruby glanced at him sideways before shrugging. Qrow frowned and before he could retort, said blonde girl had approached with the rest of team Juniper. Yang had changed the most over the last 24 hours, her demeanor changed and that playful side had withered away, honestly she reminded him of Raven, her mother and that scared him. Yang approached the two and he saw the blade she kept at her side much like how Raven had kept it. 'Omen' was used in conjunction with her own weapons 'Ember Celica' and was her long-range go-to when her primary weapons needed ammunition.

"Yang, get over here. How was the patrol… you alright." he asked awkwardly, she shrugged and approached him while team Juniper came up near to Ruby and were A much needed distraction for said girl.

"Nothing much, no Grimm now that they've been repelled. Why do you ask uncle."

"You want to talk about it?" he asked, cautiously glancing toward her and her expression hardened A bit before softening.

"Whats there to talk about, my mom's dead, that's A given. What I'm really upset about are… those two." she whispered and worriedly glanced towards Ruby before sighing in relief when Ruby had not heard and was distracted by their friends. Qrow understood all too well, he nodded and brought his niece close in A half-hearted hug around the shoulders. Yang rolled her eyes and elbowed him, much to his amusement. That was the Yang he knew all too well.

"What about the other thing, those powers… have you gotten A feel for them yet. Amber could give you the crash course-"

"-I feel different. Yeah I know that. I saw as those powers entered me. I feel different, how could I not? But I'm not sure if I want to use such powers, they remind... they mind me of Kron and that green alien… bastards, they used such powers too, just look around-"

"-Not like those powers, trust me, I know. Whatever abilities they use is different then the maiden powers. Ozpin is an expert on the subject. After this last patrol, want to go home, go see your old man?" he asked, changing the subject she was increasingly resistant to discuss. Yang nodded and looked at her sister, they lost two of their teammates to alien invader's. All six of them were barely hanging on as it is, still they done their job to keep their heads out of the depressing thoughts and to focus on something to help them keep going strong.

"Ozpin had called me, said the teams from beacon would be able to go on their assigned missions next week. School is going to be closed while the repairs get underway in which case I will-" Yang sharply looked into his direction and Qrow swore he saw A speck of the 'old Yang' there.

"-You!-" Qrow kept on speaking through her surprise, smirking humour

"-Me. I'll be taking… ah, well… you and your sister plus team Juniper." she visibly flinched at that remark, knowing what he knew, how Ruby and Yang were down two friends since two day ago when Winter Schnee and Kron along with Atlas soldiers were spotted on the hi-jacked broadcast before their communications were returned to the people of Remnant. He knew there would be a lot of problems here in, Vacuo had come out of the fight against the Grimm alright, though a lot of their outlying towns and villages were evacuated when the negative emotions from the hi-jacked broadcast had first inflamed the Grimm to attack. Mistral on the other hand had gotten the worst of it, losing a lot of towns to the Grimm, they were lucky that Atlas forces already had A base near Argus and then the two Atlas Warship's that went to assist them in the fighting. It was their huntsmen that alarmed him, or the lack there of as A huge amount of them were MIA way before the Grimm assaulted Mistrals walls. That was what Ozpin could gleam from Lionheart anyway.

Atlas though, thanks to James Ironwood, were already mobilized for war as he was only hindered by the Atlas council otherwise 'Jimmy' would have declared martial law in search of those who stolen Atlas equipment. Ironwood was still but hurt from not finding who stole the guns until Ozpin confirmed that the woman Qrow himself had killed was one of those involved in the theft. Qrow stopped focusing on the trees outside the wall and blinked, looking around and going for A drink.

"Lets go sport, looks like our patrols up." he nodded towards one of the other teams and Yang looked before replying.

"...Finally."

Start of Kron's POV

I had awoken covered in mud, rain and in an awkward lying position, the day was beginning to clear out from that storm. I felt somewhat sore from the position i had ended up sleeping in but besides that, I was fine. Standing up and getting the kinks out of my neck and shoulders, I glanced around the... hole I found myself in.

"Shit, fuck... what the hell can I say... at least i'm no longer A danger to myself... that transformation, that was something i have never seen within the series. I wonder what the fuck happened and why?" I couldn't quite think properly at the moment as I felt hungry like i have never felt like before. Walking towards the command ship, I was considering entering the thing and breaking my fast on the meals within while also dealing with the last of the scrubs onboard when I caught sight of ships incoming. Sensing that area, I could feel one familiar signature, someone I dreaded to face at least now.

"Winter..." I stood and watched as the airships come into view properly, their engines breaking the silence that i found myself in until now. Looking as smaller ships begun launching themselves from the main massive warship that I could feel Winter on board, I watched as these Atlas soldiers begun landing all over the place. Such tactics were impressive, at least to my eyes but if I wasn't here... it would have been A slaughterhouse for Atlas and Winter, their ships, in other words, A waste of life.

"...Lucky I'm here... then... Fuck..." clenching my hands together, every word failed to drown out the thoughts resounding in my head, Blake... Weiss...

"My inner-most thoughts were silenced out when I could hear the footsteps, quickly focusing on my environment, The atlas soldiers who had spotted me had approached me in careful regard, watching me with curious and more then not, fearful glances. Their weapons held in A position for them to quickly employ them encase I snapped, not that it would-

"-Kron! so, your here... I suppose we can use the assistance." Winter walked forward, surrounded by more soldiers. It was now or never.

"Winter, I- I'm sorry, but-" Winter, interrupted me, waving away her soldiers and the surrounding men watching me like A hawk.

"-I know. I have gotten word, both from headmaster Ozpin and general Ironwood once the communications were restored. I'm barely hanging on as it is-" she stopped talking and smiled, A smile that didn't quite reach her eyes, her eyes hardened and she continued speaking. "...However, I have to, have to do my job otherwise I'm liable to sit and wallow from my sadness... And no, I don't blame you, believe me... I tried to, it would be easy too." she huffed, her croaky throat coughed, reminiscent of someone who was barely holding on to their tears and then spoke up louder but... more formal-like.

"Stay out of the way, for now Kron. Seeing as you have more knowledge in regards to the technology wielded by these aliens, we will defer to you. Until your needed." She walked off, arms folded behind her as she dismissed me. Looking around, I might as well head on and find myself A bunk to catch some shuteye for now.

Waking up inside the random bunkbed I had chosen to sleep in, the place was empty and quiet. occasionally there were the hard steps of the many soldiers i could sense currently rummaging around the massive command ship but besides that, I was alone.

"I need to... stop thinking of them two... and do something, I need to get them out of my damned head! and focus on figuring out what to do... I should check my power-level now and try and get that 'transformation' figured out but-" sighing irritatingly, I couldn't really bother to train, at least for now. I would like nothing more too but, every time i felt my Ki, I got flashbacks of that bastard aliens disgusting face, that conniving smirk... 'their death's'.

"You can fucking fix it!, I need to... get my mind off of it and train. that new power, its dangerous. Until I can use it without going 'psycho', i'm A danger to myself and everyone else around me. That should be my first priority. Getting used to such A ability, although I have no idea what sort of ability that it is..." I felt strong, that was A first, as though I was transforming into the 'great ape' that i had somewhat gotten used to doing, though more mobile than the giant monkey transformation ever was. It must be an ability I haven't seen in the series...

Currently I was resting on board the command ship. All I could do at the moment was brood in my failure's, my arrogance. Getting those two killed had sapped me of my strength, mentally. Yesterday while I was fully powered up from that bestially transformation I had 'unlocked', I managed to navigate e the ship's consoles and found the one that read power-levels. The number was sitting at one million, two hundred seventy thousand. That was while I was in that changed state, checking after I was able to calm back down it sat at one hundred twenty-seven thousand. Essentially, that transformation was an multiplier like the great ape transformation but without the well, going 'great ape'.

Afterwards I hung inside the ship and my main hobbies was eating the Frieza Force issued rations within, I felt mightily depressed right now and felt like sitting around to stew in that failure... failing 'them', their deaths will weigh heavily on me for the rest of my life, even when... I do something about it. If I couldn't sense other life-forms with my 'Ki-sense' I would have been surprised by the awkward half-hearted hug that wrapped around my shoulders from behind. Awkward was an understatement as Winter, quick as she had done so had released me and sat down at the table of the mess hall near to me. She flicked A good amount of her hair away by the fling of her fingers and glanced at my plate before finally, looking at me.

"Kron, how are you feeling. Have you gotten some rest?" she glanced around and I looked away, then down onto my plate. Winter also looked somewhat more tamer then last we talked, guess she also had to figure stuff out as well.

"Winter, whats up?, shouldn't I be the one to ask you that. Look at yourself, you look like your about to collapse." she smiled and I could tell she was putting on A strong front. She surprised me again when she the smile and turned to glance around the mess hall of the ship.

"I can't sleep well, I keep thinking of… anyways, I've been sent A request by general Ironwood. He want's you to assist the incoming scientist's with examining this ship."

"No way, when your scientist's arrive, I'll give them one lesson then I'm off this damned rock-"

"-What are you saying, my sister, her friend, they both died for you! They both sacrificed their lives for yours, not to mention if you had gone through with killing yourself like I was told from headmaster Ozpin, the whole world would have been held hostage by that green psychotic… fucking cunt!!" Jesus, this is A first, I'd never imagined Winter had this kind of potty mouth, it would have made me laugh if i didn't know of the seriousness of her words. I better explain better what I have planned though. Looking at her fuming scrunched up face, I couldn't help but flinch, how could I not, in that moment, she reminded me A little Of Weiss when she would pout-

"Weiss and Blake… there's A way to save them-" she snarled and closed in on me like A mad cat, her wild eyes glaring into mine, interrupting me at every turn.

"-Don't you get it, you-" she was right in my face, hand gripping my newly suited saiyan armor I grabbed from the ship and tried to pull me in closer. "-They're are dead, there not coming back-" I was mad and she wasn't listening, I smashed my hand through the nearby table and glared at her. The table bent inwards until my hand cleaved through but she stood her ground, both of us, pride or whatever, she held her ground.

"Are you going to let me explain or are you going to continue interrupting me?" She glared but then huffed, that anger and glare gone in an instant, her head shaking from side to side with that 'Schnee' arrogance as she casually dismissed me with her eyes much to my annoyance.

"No, get some rest and then will speak later." she stalked away, angry footsteps as her heels clicked onto the metallic surface and I snarled, she flicked-

"...she flicked her hair at me... I better give her some space, she must be hurting too." sighing, I turned away to regard myself and what I should do now, both on Remnant and with myself in particular. I definitely needed proper sleep so that could be my first task.

"She's right, I'll get some rest. Then I'll get off this planet. They can reap the spoils of war and I'll head to Earth." sitting at another table, I thought back on what I knew. I knew wherever Remnant was, in the galaxy was somewhere within the 'DBZ universe'. I would morn Weiss and Blake but there was A chance... A chance to get them back and I was going to do it. Still I was guilty I know, I should have finished the fight as quickly as I could instead of prolonging the battle, damned saiyan genes...

Standing up, I went around the ship and went into the where the power balls were launched from, it was A big area. Searching for One such pod, I quickly found A few of them all untouched and on further examining of them, they had their remotes nearby. Taking on such remote, I keyed it to one of the pods and initiated its launching sequence.

"I'll take this one, its fully fueled and prepped, let Atlas have the rest of this crap, no skin off my back." the ship launched itself out of the ship and I raised up in the air, following it out. On exiting the ship, the pod continued until it left the ship and then touched down. I noticed a lot of the soldiers begun to chase after it. One of the soldiers approached me as they noticed my flying after the ship and I landed, looking at them and sneering in their direction.

"This ship is 'my property', so bugger off before I kick your asses." the soldiers began to hesitate but one of them, had managed the courage to speak.

"We have order's-" I raised my hand and aimed at my left side, firing off As big A blast as I could, the purple Ki Blast fired had detonated near to the command ship but not close enough to hit anybody, instead it engulfed A few of the many attack Balls that littered the land around the main ship.

"Understood?" I asked, glaring at the one who had spoke up.

"R-Right, understood s-sir." they slowly backed off and frustrated, I sat on top of my ship. Knowing I was about to get it, the 'it' had approached and she was looking ticked off. Sighing, the nearby soldiers avoided her and then she walked up to me as I sat on top of my new ship.

"What is your problem! Your explosion had destroyed valuable Atlas property!" She glanced at my ship and I spoke up, trying to reign in my temper which was easily rising lately.

"Yeah, I was just warning off your soldiers from taking all of the ships, see this one here, I'll be taking this one. I'm leaving this planet." Winter's glare had softened as her eyes widened at my words.

"L-Leaving!? whatever for-"

"-I was trying to explain before but you didn't want to listen. Now that I have your attention, listen up. There is A way to 'resurrect those who have died, at least on another planet. I will need A ship to go to this planet, understand now?" I said, she looked frustrated and before I could ask why, her gaze snapped back onto me from where was currently looking at.

"You can explain it to the general when he and the engineers arrive, until then get some rest. I'll talk to you later Kron…" she turned around and walked off.

Start of Ozpin's POV

He stared from the podium as he finished speaking to the students, they begun to dispersed and his shoulders slagged slightly. There would be A mass funeral for all those lost in this tragic time, some of the more important lives that were taken would be getting their own funerals. Willow Schnee was on her way to collect her youngest daughters body and The Belladonna family were on their way to collect Blake.

four days had passed since their death's, The council had called him in for an emergency meeting and this was to be A joint meeting from all kingdoms. To discuss the alien menace, And since Kron was an alien… he had an idea what this meeting was going to be about and he felt resigned. Ozpin walked off from the podium and went for his office. The walk took some time but he was nearly to the elevator, walking inside, he rode it up to his office and finally, sat down at his desk. He made A call to James ironwoods personal line. The man answered.

"Ozpin, what do you need." he asked, he was not in his office, it sounded like he was on A bullhead.

"James, where are you, I need to talk with you, privately if need be."

"I'm on my way to the alien invader's fleet. Winter has reported that Kron has dealt with the rest of the alien personal. The bodies will be taken and our labs will study them, their ships will be moved back to Atlas, but we still have no idea how to go about that, at least at this time." James grunted, arms folded behind him as he contemplated what to do. Ozpin nodded and speaking of Kron, brought up the young alien who helped them.

"James, I'm somewhat concerned what the meeting will be about, seeing as there is only one alien left alive-"

"-you mean, Kron yes… yes, I am also concerned, someone that young and with that amount of power should not be left to their own devices, the young man will have to be studied of course-"

"-see reason James, you and I both know someone like Kron would not offer themselves up for becoming A prisoner, he grew close to those two girls who were killed, he seems like he wouldn't take being 'enslaved' by our esteemed councils without fighting for his freedom. Not to mention, what i have come to know about him, he has more pride than you my friend and that's saying something. No, he won't surrender and we will be cast back into the 'dark age'. You also seen what that other alien could do, we all saw it. You only need to look up into the sky to see the remaining pieces of our moon to know." James nodded, speaking up in retort.

"I agree, normally someone with that kind of power would be A concern but Kron isn't normal is he, he's some kind of advanced alien species that throw around explosions without blinking. If he wanted to, he could have conquered our people easily. Winter contacted me A few hours ago, she told me that Kron seems to believe that there's A way to bring back or resurrect Weiss Schnee and the other girl-"

"-Blake Belladonna." Ozpin added, James nodded.

"Indeed. She told while onboard her war-fleet airship that Kron plans to leave on one of the ships. I plan to send Winter with him, I haven't told her that yet though and am loath to force her. But, if there's some way to resurrect others, that kind of technology could benefit the Remnant race. Both human and Faunas could take this planet from the Grimm once and for all." James said with such conviction that Ozpin was almost convinced that it would be A sure thing, being an immortal though… he had some concerns about messing with the dead.

"And what of the funeral, Winter would miss it and I've been told her mother wants to speak with her, about the SDC." he replied, watched the general nod, mulling the words in his head.

"Frankly, this is more important. From what Winter had told me, Kron is serious about leaving and by himself. I need to make sure Winter is going with him or we might lose this opportunity, both at learning about this ability to 'resurrect others and exploring the galaxy." Ironwood pondered aloud before glancing into Ozpin's eyes.

End Ozpin's POV

Start of Salem's POV

Salem continued to watch and re-watch the spectacle that was the fight between the one with the tail and the green-skinned monster again and again. She had already heard much from Cinder about the one with the tail who she thought be be A monkey faunas who actually turned out to be some kind of alien. This alien who had won the fight, and she watched with rapt attention as these two god-like beings shook the planet with each of their blows. The video cut out when the monkey alien was presumed killed and the rest of the footage was of the landscape of the dragon continent, the same continent her little territory was on. Then later on, it appeared that said monkey alien had survived the fight and ended up winning, she was interested in this being.

"Cinder has been killed, I can confirm with the Grimm inside her being also killed, tell me Arthur, what do you know of this being." she glanced at him, A delicate finger swaying back and forth as she bade Arthur Watts approach her. He grudgingly approached and answered.

"I, he is one of those aliens that launched A 'supposed' invasion on Remnant but besides from being killed by one of their own, namely the one who maimed Cinder and took her hand off, I couldn't tell you anything else." she nodded, Salem wanted to meet this person. She would and will ask from his help. She figured he was as powerful, no, even more so powerful then the two brother's, she would ask that he destroy them and then… she can die. Salem nodded and replied.

"Go, seek out any information about this alien, useful information and bring it back to me. Nothing else matters." she waved them off and then headed for the outside of her castle, 'Evernight'. Hopping near to one of the pools that littered the land of darkness, she created A giant 'Nevermore' and hopped up onto it. Flying off into the direction where she had glimpsed the domes of energy and assumed where the fight had happened.
