Chereads / The Ape From Space / Chapter 2 - The Morning After

Chapter 2 - The Morning After

Man…waking up just now, realizing my body was contorted and laying outside in rocks poking me told me how real the situation was and felt, damn sleeping outside sucks... I also knew that my experience just prior to my blacking out was no dream. Oh yeah right, blacking out. I must look like a fool, forgetting why Saiyan warriors were sent off-planets for Frieza and his PTO, how'd could I forget about the moon... Rising from the ground, stretching the kinks out of my body and especially my neck, I decided to view my immediate surroundings. Scorch marks on rock faces, huge holes carved into hills forming new valleys and footprints of the like I'd expect from the Saiyan great-ape form. I was not wounded nor damaged in anyway.

Looking around more carefully I noticed my ship… well the remains that is. Yeah, I must be the most amateur Saiyan invader in this galaxy. Let's hope there is a civilization here.

A grim and foreboding feeling came over me and so I decided to check out the wreckage for any intact supplies before moving on. Striding over to the crater with my wrecked attack-ball spread around and buried under various rock piles, I focused on the more intact parts of the Saiyan pod, determined to find at least my extra supplies. I knew I, well Kron had before our life-forces merged, had stored only a few from what he could gather and so I looked for any openings or compartments or the like. I knew what I was looking for, but as my ship looks like it was stepped on... well this search might take a while.

After using my eyes to skim and prod through to most open and obvious places, I went down on my knees and used my hands. Frustration began to seep into me as my search hadn't bore fruit yet. I spent almost thirty minutes searching through the various metal parts and curved walls of the attack-ball until finally my luck had turned, finding the pods storage compartment still intact and undamaged, if buried under a decent number of boulders and dirt.

"Right, let's get my stuff out and check everything. I'll then plan my next move from there. And thanks to my abrupt great-ape transformation, I won't be getting off this rock anytime soon so being cautious about everything should be in my best interest" I mumbled aloud to myself, not loud enough to carry further then my own enhanced hearing could hear and glad to hear myself speak for once even if to myself which past me was used to. I began to look into the compartment while patting myself down at the same time.

"So, let's see here… my Saiyan armor is still intact and my spare set is…here good. Looks like my spare scouter has survived being crushed to, the one I was wearing is gone. No water or food so that going's to be priority number one.... Kron was a Muppet. Yes okay, right... and how the hell am I carrying this shit around" My hands checked the scouter before attaching it to my face by the ear. Tugging at the clean but otherwise unfolded Saiyan-polymer and armor which mind-you reminded me of future-prince Vegeta's getup when he and Nappa landed on earth in the DBZ timeline. I decided I might as well wear the new bodysuit, with my current one going over the other. I looked around before stripping out of the Saiyan armored pauldron and body-armor. Removing my current polymer suit I then donned the newer spandex and then old spandex on top together before wearing the older pauldron-armor on top, I hope I don't overheat.

I could then carry my newer armor with me for now.

Ready and rearing to explore my surroundings, I gave the sight of the crash a look over. I began to power-up, clenching my hands by using memories I instantly knew like muscle-memory when doing a specific movement or whatever. Surprising my self-briefly before I breathed out in a sigh I focused energy into my palm, forming a blast in my hand. an inky purple sphere formed slowly, and I knew what I wanted to use it for and so decided to get some distance. I levitated upwards.

"I will have to cover my tracks first, wherever I have ended up I need to keep a low profile from any locals, and holy hell this is cool… the energy I feel, man this makes me feel so badass. So, let's get rid of my ship's scraps. I think this is the right thing to do... I'm no mechanic. What's left to fix?" I started chuckling, looking at my Ki-blast before concentrating on the target area. I quickly and violently extended my palm with the attack towards the wreckage of my ship, The orb of power rushed down as quickly as possible towards the ground and impacted. The explosion was indeed beautiful but sudden and I felt giddy about wielding such power, even with a weak power as I have. Even levitating where I was above the ground like the characters of the show did my past was all so surreal.

Of course, all these feelings subsided almost as quickly as counting to three, my Saiyan experience kicking in and so my next pose was almost instinct. Gloved hand moving towards my face, I clicked my scouter-and activated its scanning function, bleeping and symbols dancing on the red glass screen over my right eye.

"Alright so let's check the power-levels of this planet, and what's this…there are power-levels everywhere I look. The lowest averaged power-levels seem to be around 25 but I can't lock on to anyone of them for long, there's too many to do so. And towards the south there are more power levels averaged around 20 or 30. okay let's turn this off" murmuring to myself I pushed another button on the scouter.

I decided to head south as there was less individual power-levels that way, nothing I couldn't handle although not being arrogant about it I still should be cautious about-facing huge numbers of unknowns together. Food and water were my goal now, so I took to the sky to locate some of the natural wildlife.

Flying southbound from my position, I thought about my last memories in space, idly thinking about the moon and the planet in general. I tried to think back to my Saiyan pod's navigation systems, the surface of this planet in particular and tried to think about where exactly I had landed but to no avail. The moon was a clue for sure as I found it some-what familiar, but to what I couldn't figure out, at least for now.

Flying a bit slower and with my right hand through my spare armor-suit as to keep it from falling anywhere, I raised that right arm towards my scouter again. To engage said buttons and knobs in order to find any targets I could engage nearby.

Red screen of the scouter indicated there were fifteen or so power-levels ranging from 150 to 170 a way to my right, to the south-west according to the red display, with a few lower power-levels of 110 to 140 scattered amongst them. These power-levels were blinking out of existence at a rapid pace.

I wasn't really feeling fatigued although I was getting hungry, but I should be fine to handle such meager power-levels. I felt ready for some action, to use my power.

Landing lower to the ground, my tail swishing with the wind had wrapped around my waist as I landed on a tree branch. Glancing at the scouter screen once again before checking my armor that was hanging on my arm before I looked towards my destination direction. I bent my knees and prepared myself to jump when I heard an explosion in the distance further to the west, smoke rising towards the sky in a cloud of dust and soot. It was far away but I would reach there within a few minutes or less, I jumped to another branch then another. Also, I could make out a lot of birds circling the area where the smoke was rising with my keen eyes, like black crows most like.

"Time to test my abilities, and hopefully find something edible too. Damn stomach pangs and Saiyan genes." landing onto another tree and another until the trees parted way as to look inside a clearing, I was able to make out humanoid figures and huh…

"Now they are fucking recognizable. So, I landed…here huh? God damn Grimm, from the show RWBY." finished with my monologue to myself while checking the battlefield I recognized the Beowolf's and Ursai right away, the birds I saw circling turned out to be Nevermore's and one griffon.

I dropped from the tree and entered a fight stance, before flinging myself towards the scene, my left fist held out whilst charging my Ki and right fist tucked near myself to guard and keep my spare armor with me. The Beowolf I targeted first turned to me suddenly, itself under gunfire from the seven or so almost identical men and woman shooting as if their life's depended on it, which it certainly did. I went straight through its head with my Ki-infused fist.

Eyes locking on another close target, another Beowolf I ruthlessly smashed into, attacking it with a few jabs as to test my strength before another final blow. Turning around I dodged an ursa's attempt at hitting me, a split second and I was above the beast before crushing it with my legs. The Beowolf I just killed before the ursa was just finishing disintegrating in front of me as I jumped over the ursa corpse, smashing into another Beowolf. My instincts honed by various battles and a lot of training on planet Vegeta as part of the PTO and my days as a bouncer in my previous life begun to scream at me to dodge an attack at my blind-spot, doing so quickly as a sharpened feather landed in front of me, then another and even more with each one embedding into the ground with lethal precision. But still I dodged appearing higher and higher as I flew effortlessly to my next targets.

I heard shouts from below but paid them no mind whilst soaring through the air quicker than the Nevermore's could react, I punched through one, the exertion of such an act not affecting me much. I landed on another larger Nevermore's back, it attempted to dislodge me from it by somersaulting which got me to keep my balance by moving with it. Still attempting to remove me, more of the Nevermore's that I could make out within my line of sight decided to resume attacking the easier targets, the four left begun the swooping-runs on their original targets, the local's.

Struggling with remaining on my feet to keep up with the beast I begun to clench my hands, currents and wisps of purple-colored energy begun to radiate from my person, wind dissipated from me and blew in any other direction, effecting all the flying Grimm slightly.

Yelling hoarsely outward, I started laughing to myself whilst doing so. I kicked off of the Nevermore's back, in the process knocking it down lower to the ground. I free felled below it and before it could recover, I stopped charging my Ki, the sky and wind became more normal as I did so.

"Let me show you why you and your species are now at the bottom of the food-chain, here have a taste of this. I already chewed it for you bird" briefly laughing at my attempt at humor with my mouth hanging open, I opened my mouth even more to the point where I couldn't no more, and a beam of violet energy burst forth.

The beam of death rushed on point towards the Nevermore's back, the Grimm still in making attempts of righting itself from me pushing it, but to no avail for it.

An explosion engulfed the Grimm, the sunlight temporary blocked by a cloud of dust and ash.

The attack was over as quick as it had begun and instead of admiring my handy-work and more importantly new combat-ability, I looked for another opponent to pursue. Looking around the clearing-turned battlefield I finally got a good look at the humanoid figures. Noting that their clothes we're in fact similar to one another by appearance alone, like the Grimm before them I recognized these uniforms and thus the people, I had come to help were the White fang... lucky shit's.

Ignoring said revelation for now, I continued to view the Grimm, spotting the biggest target which happened to be the griffon. It was currently being engaged by a handful of white-fang grunts at melee range. Dashing towards it from where I floated in the sky, I held out my hand to power-up another Ki-blast. The blast was much more compacted like a sphere as it came to life within my free hand, launching itself towards the Grimm. And naturally my Ki-blast was a violent-like purple, must be the color of my aura... Nearby white fang members were pushed back from my attack, dust and wind hitting them. The blast caught a few more Grimm inside the blast radius before the light show and exploding light-effects evaporated entirely, leaving a cloud of dust in its wake. The remaining Grimm were finished off by an emboldened white fang counterattack of ranged firepower.

I gave a deep breath, beginning to feel tired from my handing out Ki-attacks like candy.

I took my time to marvel at the feeling of giddiness I had felt more and more with the short-lived battle, taking the time control my breathing and still the beating of my overclocking-heart rate. Adrenaline rushes were prevalent in fighting situation's but to actually feel one after the lightning-fast maneuver's I was able to do to these sorts of enemies was… I couldn't put well into words.

Landing onto solid ground not far from the remaining white fang members, I caught my breath and approached them. Communication isn't my strong suit.
