Three weeks. That was how long Wulin had been separated from his group. It was the longest time they had been separated in the nearly four years he had known them. It was weird having not seen them for so long even if he did know for certain that they would be alright. Truthfully, he almost missed them. Almost.
[You have good friends.] Smiling warmly in his child's mental sea, Tang San was far more emotional than he'd admit upon seeing his son's soul communicator explode with heartfelt messages.
It was his boy's birthday. Kind of anyway. He had been on a divine realm so the flow of time was vastly different, the time he landed on this planet and the moment he was born were far from the same day. But did it matter? In the end, a birthday was a celebration of life and a date wouldn't change that.
"β¦Yeah. I do." Scrolling through the messages he had been sent, Wulin was impressed they had managed to coordinate such a thing without him knowing. Their soul communicators were all confiscated by Shrek so they were all prewritten messages but they were perfect regardless.
Wulin didn't get to see his friends this year and he didn't get any gifts either but just the fact they went out of their way to congratulate him was enough for him. The silly jokes Xie Xie made to hide his embarrassment, the sincere respect of Xu Xiaoyan, the blunt yet teasing words of Mu Xi, and the loving whispers of Gu Yuena. They were more than enough to make this a day to remember.
Dismissing his spiritual domain the flow of time around him returned to normal as he stored the device in his pocket. Truthfully, Wulin was afraid. Afraid of the reaction of the world to his true identity, both of them, and even the smallest of things. He wasn't nearly as strong as people thought he was. But he was sure that at the very least, those four would stand by him.
Shoveling breakfast down his throat Wulin practically teleported to the Eternal Sea. He felt like he could do it now and he wanted to try before the feeling disappeared. Sinking down through the depths he quickly passed through the Upper Layer and made his way down through the Middle Layer as well.Β
There was something realized during these last three weeks, something that he probably should have realized long ago. Humanity would almost always surpass divinity. Whether it be him and his partner surpassing their former selves or the Atlas Douluo possessing technique so divine that he may even be able to defeat a God Officer.
Humanity was weak and feeble while divinity was overpowering and unyielding. The gods would always be stronger than the humans right? Wrong. Humanity's greatest strength is their weakness, their ability to slowly grow where divinity stagnates.
It was only by relying on his mortal body that Wulin could grow. It was only because of his mortality that he relied on so many people. The control of Wu Zhangkong, the blood essence manipulation of a Zhuo Shi, the technqiues of the Atlas Douluo, the strength of Mu Ye, they were all things that made him grow far beyond his previous limits. Humanity was weak but they had time and numbers on their side and that made them stronger than any god.
[Wulin! Don't go any further!] Screaming in worry Tang San nearly unsealed Wulin's blood essence but was stopped by an invisible pressure. His son⦠was stopping him? His body was on the brink of death, his heart quite literally hanging on by a thread and yet the boy pushed himself further?!
A groan escaped his boy's lips as his heart exploded in his chest. He was still alive but not even Tang San could guess how long that would last. He tried to fight against his son's resistance but the spiritual sea he resided in rose to contain him, his efforts delayed just long enough for him to see it happen.
A golden light illuminated the entirety of the Eternal Sea, the roar of a tyrant echoing through the ocean depths. A golden cocoon covered in scales and shimmering like a mirage momentarily surrounded Wulin before it sunk inward, the gold light following suit and returning to Wulin's body.
The golden light condensed and shrunk until it was no larger than a marble, a beautiful marble but a marble nonetheless. In an instant, blood began flowing through Wulin's body. No, it wasn't just flowing it was growing stronger!
[A divine core?] The Sea God could hardly believe his eyes. It was small, pitiful even, but Wulin replaced his heart with an empty divine seat. Already his blood essence was gaining divine attributes, his body alone quickly becoming an impossible mix of divine and mortal. Moreso than it already was that is.
"A divine heart might be better." Wulin's chuckle soon became full blown laughter as he examined his body deeper. Previously, his limits for each |Level| was 95 or so for |Level 1|, a Peak Limit Douluo for |Level 2|, a first class god for |Level 3|, and a Peak God King for |Level 4|.
But now, things had changed a bit. |Level 1| was about rank 97, |Level 2| was at the level of a third class god, |Level 3| was closer to the peak of a first class god, and at |Level 4| Wulin could probably fight evenly with two God Kings. Maybe. Just like humans, God Kings tended to have differing strengths and weaknesses so it was up in the air regardless.
Regardless, the strength increase wasn't actually that massive. It wasn't small or anything and people would kill for that kind of growth even from something like |Level 1| but that wasn't the main benefit.
"I can use my |Level 2| freely!" Laughing like a madman in the depths of the Eternal Sea the Golden Dragon King had regained a fraction of his divinity. Now, so long as he limits himself to the power of a third class god he could freely use the power of a god!
It may not be enough to win the coming war but it would at least ensure the safety of those close to him.

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.
Well, the Federation is screwed. Now that FUG has a god on speed dial I doubt there will be anything to worry about over there. At least, that would be the case if Wulin wasn't on a strict time limit. I mean, he may have gotten a divine core but it's still small. He's gotta train it up first.
