"Good luck." Smiling cockily, Mu Xi was the first to leave their little strategy meeting, the whistle of her train signaling her departure. She had paid for her ticket by pushing the tab onto her father so she was first to find a way out of their first issue.
"Well, guess it was inevitable. I'll just sneak on." Shaking his head with a regretful sigh Xie Xie didn't exactly like the idea of becoming a criminal but you had to do what was necessary when the time came if you wanted your dreams to come true.
"I already got some funds so I'll be going too. Good luck, you two!" Smiling brightly, Xu Xiaoyan held up a few hundred credits that Wulin hadn't even seen her acquire. She probably got it by tugging the heartstrings of a kind father or something but regardless it was good to see her well on her way.
Standing alone once again Wulin and Gu Yuena watched as their peers made their way to their trains, their hands tightly clasped together as always. Their trains were running a bit late so they'd be the last to leave but that was fine as well. They wanted to spend as much time with each other as they could after all.
"You have money right?" It was less of a question and more of a statement that left Gu Yuena's lips, the tranquil atmosphere destroyed by her very materialistic words. It wasn't exactly surprising though as Wulin was one of the richest men alive.
He didn't tend to use FUG funds for his own goals but his work as a blacksmith was more than sufficient to fund him. Even if he was officially a rank six these days he was still a divine smith so he made quite a bit just from that. He was picky with his customers and he still brought in millions a month.
Zhen Hua had gotten extremely excited to hear the news of a new ninth ranked smith and asked to meet numerous times but each time Wulin denied him. After all, he had gone out of his way to make Yun Ming hide his identity to stay anonymous not to meet public figures.
Fortunately, his limited customer base let him have a fair bit of time on his hands over the years which he used to supply the Slayers their own battle armies. He even had one of his own though he never actually managed to use it.
"Yeah." Pressing a finger to his ear Wulin slowly moved his finger away, a credit card materializing from the depths of his earring. It may look simple and unassuming but in truth, it was an alloy of six different high class metals heavenly refined and then inscribed with an array by Seto himself. In quality alone, it would be a divine tool.
"Maybe I should get one of those myself." Smiling playfully Gu Yuena locked hands with her partner and led the way to the ticket area. If it weren't such a hassle to create, she would have long since requested her own. The ability to carry things that nobody would be able to find would be invaluable for her goals.
"When's your birthday again?" Raising a brow there was a glint of amusement in Wulin's eyes, his jubilation almost infectious. Rolling her eyes Gu Yuena didn't fall for his tricks, love in her eyes as he got down on one knee.
"You're such a drama queen." Giggling as he pulled a small box out of his earring Gu Yuena happily took it from him and opened it, a matching earring to the one he wore in his ear. Was it luck or something else that made it so her partner healed fully on her chosen birthday? Was the universe giving her a birthday gift?
"I'm your drama queen." Smiling softly as a blade of wind no thicker than a needle appeared atop her finger, a small silent cut marking the start of her new fashion choices. There was no blood considering she had morphed her body to accommodate it which was good for Wulin's heart. He didn't mind if she was injured by his hand but he'd like to avoid it in general.
"What do you think?" Smiling brightly she reflected light itself to make a mirror out of nothing, her grin growing by the second as she took it in. It was simple by design but on her, it looked gorgeous regardless.
"I feel like I'm going to have to start walking on the left." Smiling cheekily Wulin couldn't help but laugh as she once more rolled her eyes. His earring was and always had been on his left side and she wore hers on her right. It was certainly deliberate.
"Why don't you start now? Our train might be late but we don't have forever to get our tickets you know." Smiling warmly she pulled him and tightly gripped his hand. Birthdays were a strange concept to her as a Spirit Beast, it was why she had chosen her birthday as the day she went to the human world without thinking too deeply. But they were quite pleasant, weren't they?
She had three birthdays with her partner, her other half, and each had been a day she would never forget. Whether they were filled with joy and laughter from Class 0's interference or just silent appreciation between the two of them they were wonderful. Truly, becoming a human had been the best choice of her life.
"Then allow me to lead the way, my fair lady." Bowing lightly to her Wulin grasped her hand and once more their walk began. Shaking her head with a wry smile she followed along, happily allowing herself to embrace the moment while it was here. It wouldn't last forever after all. One day, she'd have to leave Shrek for the Spirit Pagoda while he remained here.
But even when that day came they wouldn't truly be separated. They would always remain as one, two people who dedicated their existence to one another. It didn't matter if they were separated for a few years, their love would never fade.
And that was the greatest birthday gift she could ever receive.

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.
To be completely blunt with you, I made up Gu Yuena's birthday on the spot and I think it shows. I definitely could have written it better so that's on me, but I do think it would make sense. I doubt Gu Yuena would have gone to any human cities before Eastsea and I believe even that would only be to join the Spirit Pagoda. In that case, her birthday would have been a little before the school year.
