China, 2213.
Zhao Xinyi's brows furrowed the moment she opened her eyes, the bright light made her unable to look around carefully, and she waited until her eyes adjusted to it.
"Could it be that someone saved me?" She mumbled as she realised that she was seated in a toilet.
She raised her hand to grab her head, the pain that was throbbing in them a little too intense.
When she had thrown the two explosives with her, she had seen the room blow up right in front of her eyes.
In fact, she could remember the hateful glare that Fang Yijun had given her right when it all went up in flames.
So what was she doing in a toilet?
Without wasting any more seconds, she looked around the toilet to see if there was anything familiar about it. After finding none, she knelt down on the toilet floors to peep between the small gap.
Years of training that she had gotten made her flexible, and as she tried to summon her martial art skills to look beyond the room just in case there was any danger, Zhao Xinyi found out that there was nothing.
Still sprawled on the floor, her body froze as she made several attempts to summon her Qi force from her Dantian, and yet, there was nothing.
Her Dantian was not only empty, but Xinyi also suspected that someone had removed it. After all, she couldn't even feel it at all.
She got up and rushed out of the toilet, her eyes landing on the mirrors that surrounded the stalls of the toilet.
Her mouth curled with distaste at the clothes she was wearing, and then froze when she saw her face.
"Impossible," Xinyi mumbled in disbelief as her palm cupped her face, still looking at the reflection in the mirror.
The person that was in the mirror was a lot different from the face that she had grown familiar with in the last twenty-two years.
While her old self was not ugly, her appearance was, at most, just passable. However, she had never focused on her looks and didn't mind.
The beauty in front of the mirror was a totally different matter. Her looks were delicate and exquisite. The type that was impossible to forget. And yet, it was completely unfamiliar to her.
"Just what is happening here?" Her mind worked at a frightening speed as she kept looking at the figure in the mirror. Her eyes narrowed at the trail of blood that seemed to be coming from her ears to her neck.
"Surely, they couldn't have completed the research of a complete body transfer?"
Seeing that she couldn't get the answers to her question, Xinyi decided to step out of the bathroom and check where she was.
She carefully rinsed the blood trail on her neck and rinsed her face before stepping out of the bathroom.
In a situation like this, she missed her robot, Ray, that could have surveyed where they were without her having to go herself.
Before her hands could touch the knob to the bathroom door, light flashed before Xinyi's eyes one more time, making her hands remain frozen in the air.
"Eh? What is this?" She mumbled as she staggered to the wall for support.
With her intelligence level and through some of the scenes in her mind, she knew that these memories that were now streaming into her mind belonged to the body that her soul was in.
Streams and streams of memory that didn't belong to her invaded her mind at the speed of light.
But what was happening?
Her good depth of martial arts and science made her know fully well that the memories of a person were tied to their soul even more than the brain.
If she was able to access the memories of this person, that only meant that something was wrong with this operation.
Unless…
Thinking up a certain possibility, Xinyi rushed out of the toilet and walked around. Just from the design of the place and materials used, she could tell that this was a barely passable place.
Everything used was low-end materials that couldn't be seen in the 3rd or 4th district. She doubted that they could be seen in the 2nd District also.
Her steps were slow as she tried to process the memories that now existed with her own. Somehow, despite it being one brain and body, Xinyi still knew which memory belonged to this stranger and also still had her own memories.
In less than a minute, she was able to deduce that the time of the memories was a little different from the time she had lived in.
While it was still the same earth she knew, the world was now five years ahead from the time she had died.
"Damn!" Zhao Xinyi couldn't hold back and cursed as she realised that she was currently in the 1st District!
About two hundred years ago, martial artists that had laid low had revolved and taken over the power of the world because they felt that technology was about to drive Earth to its end.
Although it had been difficult for them to take and every country in the world was affected by the aftermath, the martial artists had prepared for a long time and won eventually.
With them in power, a lot of things had changed. Every country was now divided into four districts and twelve levels. The levels were classified by Value Points and determined the quality of life, education, and work that a person could do.
A lot of things might not have changed in the world that Zhao Xinyi knew. But in this backend town that she was in, their life was very different from the reality of those at the top.
By residual memory belonging to the girl that was named Zhao Mei, she walked into a conference hall that was currently packed to the brim.
Xinyi sat down at the far end and continued processing all the life memories of this Zhao Xinyi. At the same time, her eyes roamed around as she needed more information on what had happened.
Just a few minutes ago, Zhao Mei had been at this conference and then decided to go to the toilet. How did she end up having her soul enter the body of this girl?
And if her own soul was in here, was the real owner of the body dead?
Thinking of the blood trail that she had seen just some minutes ago, Xinyi felt like death was a possible situation. Perhaps the owner had died and left the body available for her own soul?
Zhao Xinyi tried to comb through more memories but realised that the last memory the person had stopped at entering the toilet after an argument with some young man.
As it was a lot of memories, Zhao Xinyi couldn't sift through them immediately and could only go through them slowly.
"For the last three days, we have accessed the works that have been submitted, and the team of judges have come to a conclusion that the best work…."
The memories of this conference were also recent in her mind. Zhao Mei also had deep feelings about it because one of the contestants had stolen her work!
And yet, regardless of how she tried to talk, she couldn't because the thief was not just a nobody but was her sister's boyfriend. And in the last few hours, she had argued and threatened the man about confessing to the judges about who owned the work.
Her fists clenched at the thought. After all, it was an experience that was close to home for her, also.
Xinyi sneered as she looked around the hall, her eyes searching for the thief.
After what had happened with Fang Yijun, she knew for certain that some people existed only to steal the hard work of others.
Although the previous owner couldn't talk, since she had no blood tie with the sister or the boyfriend, she wasn't willing to let it slide.
If this was a new life, a new chance from the heavens to live a new life, then she was not going to waste it.
More importantly, since this girl was also someone that had an interest in technology, Zhao Xinyi made an internal vow to make her name known in her own world.
She felt a little light-headed as she made that promise, but it was also at that moment that the 'boyfriend thief' stood up and walked to the stage to collect the award, giving her no chance to pay attention to how she felt.
She stood up abruptly, allowing her chair to fall back and make a loud clanking noise.
Even with everyone's eyes on her, Zhao Xinyi didn't feel any uncomfortable.
Rather, she walked forward till she was just mere inches away from the stealing boyfriend.
"Zhu Fan! How dare you try to steal my work and take credit for it? Did you think that I would stay silent till the end?"
