I had my plate of food looking for where to eat. My maid must have been cleaning my room so I couldn't go.
Moreover, I had many things in mind so I did not want to waste time dealing with people with whom I have no affiliation. In short, in the figurative sense of the term.
I walked down the long corridor based on Mylène's memories of this place, the house was quite well decorated, with beautiful paintings, and tapestries. It felt like being in a fairy tale castle.
Many servants looked at me like I was crazy but I didn't care...no one in this house was ever good to Mylène so I didn't need to give them a second look or even be courteous with them.
No one spoke to me and that was fine.
I finally arrived in front of a clearing and saw at the top of a small hill, a large tree. I chose this place to lunch and settle down there.
The wind blew through the branches of the tree bringing me a certain peace as I smiled at the scenery beneath my feet.
Dozens of trees of all kinds and this beautiful field of flowers that I could see further away were breathtaking.
I got my meal tray on the floor and decided to take advantage of the cool breeze. I spread my arms and my clothes and followed the direction of the wind. I didn't know how I was going to live now but one thing was sure, I had to do everything so that the same past experiences that are mine as for Mylène should not happen again. Otherwise, it would have been useless for me to reincarnate, and take the body of Mylène.
I decided to eat first because my stomach was already rumbling and it was with great enthusiasm that I started my meal.
Shapes and mannerisms didn't interest me as I ate whatever was on the plate with my hands. In less than ten minutes it was already over, I remembered Mylène's life and praised myself on my good appetite.
Even before being sold by her family, she didn't eat because every time she tried to help herself to be satiated, her mother-in-law would humiliate her and this was supported by her brothers. So, she didn't eat as her stomach demanded and lost weight gradually as people in her family did not care about her poor state of health which was deteriorating.
I sat down and closed my eyes. I arrived two years before Mylène was sold to the count, so the time to be sold was fast approaching.
I had to find a way to avoid this fatal fate or just leave this house to finally live free... I thought about what Mylène had told me and wondered what the power of light was…. On this subject, I should find out. It seemed to me that Hosten's residence had a large library.
I will go there to find what I need to know about how to use " power"... Then knowingly, I will find a safe way to live for the rest of my life freely.
I smirked that if this power is so important and prized so that the place of a successor is in balance, why wouldn't I have fun pissing off Mylène's family who made her suffer so much? I could enjoy seeing their defeated and ridiculous faces in front of my new strength...I licked my lips and my gaze became fixed on the plot...I had to know what this power was.
«You look different this morning…»
I jumped at the sound of that sudden voice and turned to see Karl looking at me angrily. He didn't come alone because Edward was also there...it seems like they didn't appreciate my behavior and came to ask me for an account.
Recovering from my surprise, I looked away from them annoyed before lying on my side completely ignoring them under the increasingly angry gaze of my two brothers.
« I'm talking to you Mylène, how dare you ignore me?»
«You talk to me but did I tell you that I wanted to listen to you? You're bothering me so leave me alone.»
«Damn…»
« Brother, calm down... listen Mylène, your behavior earlier at the table didn't please Father at all and he asked us to come and let you know that such behavior will no longer be tolerated at the next dinner.»
I yawned so hard that my brothers thought they were going mad with rage.
«And so he couldn't have come and told it to me himself? He is my father if something in my behavior does not please him, he only has to educate me himself unless he is too busy being a father to a girl who is not from his blood rather than me, his biological daughter. No matter, go tell him that since he was not a father to me, I don't have to listen to what he has to say to me... You do the couriers so well.»
Karl and Edward were sawed, never, ever Mylène had spoken in this manner to anyone, she had only endured everyone's words and remarks every day. But there, she answered them and despised them on the same occasion... it was unforgivable, especially coming from a matricide.
Karl didn't control himself and slapped her on the cheek hoping to remind her of her place in this house. But instead of seeing a hurt and sad face, he met an arrogant smile which made him take a step back.
« Believe me Karl Von Hosten, you will pay me for this slap one day I swear.»
With that, I went down the hill leaving my two brothers cold in front of my sentence and the look I wore while talking to Karl.
I caressed my sore cheek and hissed in pain that the asshole hadn't missed me, that's for sure. I smiled with full teeth and arrived in front of the residence. I met Gabrielle who came towards me with her facade smile.
Mylène, the real one, was far too sweet and naive, she always let herself be manipulated by the hypocritical face of this girl, yet you didn't have to be a genius to read all the bad intentions hidden behind her eyes.
«Big sister, how are you? I wanted to talk to you...father is really mad at you. I tried to calm him down, you know but he is so mad...you should go see him now to apologize. I'm sure he will forgive you ...»
I rolled my eyes… sooner would I go into Mylène's father's office than he would throw an ashtray in my face like the last time Mylène had listened to that little viper's advice.
«Ah, I'm sorry Gabrielle but unlike you who is only an adopted daughter and therefore needs others' approval, you see, I don't care if he is angry or not, he is the tiniest of my worries.»
Gabrielle blushed with shame especially since she knew what Mylène said was true...even if her father and her brothers seemed to appreciate her much more than Mylène, she was only an illegitimate daughter and had to do the maximum to behave well so as not to become an annoyance that they will get rid of....she gritted her teeth and looked at Mylène fiercely while the latter smiled at her tenderly even if the mockery was visible.
What had happened to this idiot of whom she could do everything without kicking back? Not only had she taken on too much self-assurance, but her sense of repartee had become pungent...she had to remind her that she was the lady of this house, regardless of the legitimacy, she prided herself on so much.
«Ah, by the way, Frederik De Solsten is coming in an hour, you know, so that we can set the date of our engagement together…»
I shook my head at this silly kid... Frederik De Solsten was my brother Edward's best friend and the previous Mylène had been madly in love with him since she was little. Despite her brothers knowing it, they introduced Gabrielle to Frederik and he wooed her, Gabrielle missing no opportunity to remind her that it was her he had chosen.
Gabrielle was impatiently waiting for Mylène's explosion, already savoring her tears and despair, but she met an indifferent look as if what she had just said had no bearing.
«Frederik De Solsten? Ah yes, Edward's friend... my congratulations to you, I hope I will be invited to the wedding... on this, I am falling asleep I will leave you...»
I ended up yawning in front of a seething Gabrielle
I waved at her as I walked into the house and rushed in while Gabrielle trembled with rage and frustration.
She heard screams behind her and recognized the voices of Karl and Edward.
She smiled before forcing tears and as soon as the two men got to her level, they found her crying.
«Gabrielle, what's going on?»
« It's... big sister. She called me a commonly adopted girl, forcing your attention.»
A vicious glint sprung from the back of Gabrielle's gaze because she knew what would happen to Mylène after her accusation...
