"We should head back before your father starts to worry," Ethan told Selena, a hint of concern in his voice. She had convinced him to join her on one of her early morning horseback rides, and now they both stood in a picturesque valley, having dismounted their horses.
"Come on, Ethan, we just got here," Selena retorted, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath of the fresh morning air. A radiant smile played on her lips.
"Do you ever get enough?" Ethan asked, a playful grin on his face.
"Never. Besides, you were the one who convinced me not to run away," she reminded him.
Ethan chuckled, appreciating her spirit, and Selena seized the moment to address something she had been longing to discuss.
"Ethan, about that kiss in the stables the other day..." she began, but Ethan gently interrupted her.
"You don't have to explain yourself, Selena. It's fine."
"I know, but please let me," she pleaded, her eyes earnest.
