Athena POV
The next morning after breakfast I tried my hardest to avoid Bliss but it seemed she was almost following through the lunch room before sitting down next to me. "So...where did you go last night?" She asked in a whisper. "I told you...the bathroom" I whispered back. She let out a scoff "I'd believe that but when you came back it was like you had seen a ghost. So, where did you go?" She questioned. "Oh! Bliss!" Suddenly another vampire sat down across from us. She had bright red hair curly hair and dark green eyes that reminded me off moss growing on a tree in the middle of the damp woods. Freckles display on her cheeks. "Did you hear the news?" She asked Bliss. "What news?" Bliss knit her brows together. "Alice Samson is missing" The red headed Vampire informed Bliss who gasped. Suddenly my mind had flashed back to last night, the vampire lying on the dark cold floor, the way the fear looked in her eyes ran shivers over my entire body. "Athena? You alright?" Bliss placed her hand on the back of my arm. Suddenly a male had cleared his throat and I turned my head, looking up to see Matthew standing there with his hands folded behind his back. "Athena...Hyde wants to speak with you in his office" He informed me. "Oooo" The red headed vampire almost sings out. I sent her a sharp glare before standing to my feet and letting out a sigh and following Matthew as he walked towards the exit. "If this is about the dead--" He suddenly put his hand over my mouth. "Shut...up" He hissed out. "Nobody knows the truth..." He informed me before removing his hand. "What? Why?" I questioned, knitting my brows together. "That's why Hyde wants to see you" He stated. I rolled my eyes, hoping it wasn't over this. "Now come on, before he thinks you've gone and run off" Matthew says before beginning to walk down the hall again.
I entered Hyde's office to see him sitting at his desk, which was a changed from him staring out the window in envy. "Ah, Miss Black. Nice that you've agreed to meet on such sort notice" Hyde says as he stands to his feet and walked over to me, sticking his hand out as if I was just supposed to shake it. I knit my brows together, causing him to arch his brow high. "I didn't have much of a choice" I stated, folding my arms across my chest. Hyde let out a huff "Yes, sorry about Matthew" Hyde says to me. "Please, sit" He offered, gesturing towards the brown leather chair. "You seem to apologize a lot for him. "That's because Matthew is rough around the edges, but he has the best intentions for all the students and the entire school here" Hyde explained. "You turned Matthew, didn't you?" I blurted out the question before I could stop myself. Hyde arched his brow and I had realized how rude it could be to ask someone something so personal like that. "Um, sorry that's none of my business" I shake my head. He let out a soft chuckle "It's alright, I did turn Matthew" He nodded, answering my question. "Is that why you keep him around?" I asked Hyde. "I keep him around because he's like my brother, he's been there for me through the worst parts of my undead life" He explained. I wanted to know more but the painful expression on Hyde face says that I should not push more on the subject. "So,what did you want to talk about?" I questioned. "Ah, yes..." He nodded before adjusting in his chair. "Last night, you didn't..." He paused for a moment. "Tell anyone?" I shook my head. "No...I didn't know what happened, So I didn't want to get anything wrong" I informed him. "Alright, good" He nodded. "This getting out. That something is killing vampires in this school might scare others...cause them to primal instincts and this entire school could be destroyed" He warned me. "Do we understand where I'm taking this?" He asked me. I nodded "Yeah, understood. Far as I know the vampire is missing" I tell him. "Good" He cleared his throat. "Now, onto the next thing." "I'd like you to get help with finding out what your abilities are, So I have assigned Matthew in helping you each night with finding out how to bring them out" He informed me. "You've got to be kidding me? Have you not gotten the hint that Matthew and I do not get along?" I asked Hyde. "I have perfectly gotten that Miss Black, but..." He let out a huff. "Getting here this late in the school year, being tremendously behind and then on top of that not still being able to even have some sort of idea...You're gonna need some help" He pointed out. "Then why don't you help me?" I asked. "Me?" He scoffed as if he was thrown off by the idea. "I mean, I know you're busy running this school but who best to learn from than the vampire who started the entire thing?" I suggested. "Let Matthew take over some of the things that might hold you back and then I can learn from you" I added. He looked to be thinking for a moment before letting out sigh of defeat. "Fine...Lessons start tonight Miss Black" He informed me. "Where?" I asked him. "How about the library, midnight?" He smirked. "I'll be there" I stand to my feet. "Oh, Miss Black. Please don't let anyone else know about my helping you. Might look like I'm playing favoritism" He tells me. "Got it" I nodded before heading over to the door and then walking out. I didn't know if I was more scared than excited, knowing I'd have to impress Hyde with what ever powers I had. As I made my way to my classroom I past by the library and suddenly I was hit with the overwhelming feeling of coldness in the pit of my stomach. Flashes ran across my vision and it felt like all the air was sucked from my very lungs. As soon as I tried to clutch onto what ever was going it the feeling had already past. "Miss Black....You okay?" I looked up to see my History teacher standing there. "Y-yeah..." I stuttered out. "Well, get inside. We're just reading up on historical Vampire events" He let out a chuckle before I had entered the classroom, shoving what had just happened in the back of my brain.
