Understanding that Roy wanted to go against God knows how many vile creatures, Julian was in disbelief.
It was common knowledge that the Followers of Chaos could ignore the level difference and take down stronger opponents or a group made out of people who are in the same stage and level as them.
That's why each time one or two somehow snuck inside the empire, and their traces were revealed, an entire team or squad of Knights and Mages would be dispatched to hunt them down.
But never the other way around.
Was this handsome-looking man serious about fighting them all by himself?
AD
Roy spared him a glance and, with an air of confidence, spoke.
"I'm no ordinary man."
He truly wasn't. Because he was of the Baldwin Clan and at the mythical level, He was already far from ordinary. He has also awakened his bloodline power and thus, could contend against Peak level Weapon Masters without a problem if he played his cards right.
Struck by his wonderful words, Julian wondered about his identity.
[0)??? "Who are you?"
"Roy… Roy Badulf Baldwin." Roy formally introduced himself to Julian.
Finding out his true identity, Julian looked pleasantly surprised. "My father is a friend of yours.".
AD
He was also shocked. After all, what were the chances of meeting the son of a friend of your father in a small world where you were taken to against your will? Nearly Zero!
A flicker appeared in Julian's eyes.
'Maybe I can get him to do things that will preserve my life.'
Julian didn't want to die. He was too young and had an entire life ahead of him. And that's why the idea of begging Roy to bring him to safety pop up in his mind.
Julian's thoughts were seen through by Roy
Thus, he immediately shot him down, "That has nothing to do with me. So don't ask me for any favor."
"I will pay you handsomely if you escort me home safely after we leave this hell," Julian said, his voice filled with a dark rage.
He wanted to take revenge and teach those Chaotic bastards a lesson.
But of course, he needed a strong warrior by his side.
And who would be better for this task than Roy, who had single-handedly taken down the Lord of the Lava Bridge?
"Consider me interested," Roy said unhurriedly.
Julian smiled. Even out of this hellhole, he would need protection to return home. After all, the road between the counties wasn't exactly safe.
AD
Roy: "You know where they took them?"
Julian: "The Grand Sanctuary."
"There's only one way out of this hell, and that's thwarting whatever they are planning and killing them to the very last man. I am planning to do just that. What's your stance about this?" Roy stared at him, waiting for him to speak.
Julian looked thoughtful for a moment. He didn't want to play a knight and fight with Chaos. But what other choice did he have? Even if reluctant, he could only agree. It was better to fight for a chance to live than to wait for death, after all.
"I can help you fight them. But I would need the hide and blood of some beasts to make magic papers." Still, he wanted to be prepared before the battle.
They were in a tight situation. Any help was welcomed. Roy accepted his offer with a smile.
"I know just where you can find them," Roy said, his lips hooking up.
Sun was still in the sky. But dusk could be seen approaching. They still have about two to four hours to get things prepared. After that, the remaining two captives would be sacrificed to Chaos, and GhostWalker, whoever they are, would become unstoppable in the small world. Roy went around the magic circle. It wasn't the time to ruin it or destroy the barrier. They needed to prepare first. Destroying it right now was like giving them a hint of what was happening.
Roy took Julian to the forest where he had killed the Coyotes.
Methodically, he skinned them, taking the hide off their body.
And then.… he burned off their furs. It was a waste.
Their furs could've fetched a nice price.
But… they were running against time.
He didn't have the time to do things in a way that would profit him.
Heck, he didn't even collect their bodies before for the same reason.
Their hides were handed over to Julian.
AD
He sat close to a puddle of blood and placed the stacks of hides around him.
Dipping his hands on blood, he got to work.
Using his fingers as a pen, he drew symmetrical lines on a hide.
At some point, these lines started to intertwine, forming a mysterious symbol.
Roy stood guard around him.
Seeing how easily he had created a magic paper, he couldn't help but praise him. "You're quite good at this."
Julian beamed at him, "Thank you for praising me. It has been six years since I started dabbling in this art. I am self-learned, so I don't know if I am talented or not, but creating magic papers using whatever I can find is not hard for me."
While most took him as a fool, someone had recognized his talent and was holding him in high regard.
Thus, Julian genuinely felt happy.
AD
"Go on. Keep up the good work." Roy motivated him. He didn't have anything better to do.
In a very short time, Julian turned the stack of beast hides into Magic Paper, each worth a look.
Half of them were given to Roy, and the rest were kept by him.
They were finally prepared to have a face-off with the remaining servants of Chaos.
…
『Ding! Congratulations. You've destroyed the magic circle that was hiding the Grand Sanctuary and stopping Far West from connecting to this world.』
『Far West shall be thankful to you.』
『The Grand Sanctuary will now be revealed.』
An instant after he pulled out the formation flags from the ground, dragged the corpses away and poured dirt over the magic circle, these notifications rang in Roy's mind.
"Wow!"
Julian couldn't help but let out an exclamation when he saw a huge construct appear out of thin air at the edge of his vision.
Five kilometers away from them, a huge building blurred into existence.
It looked like a towering palace.
It had three floors.
That was the Grand Sanctuary.
AD
Roy also saw it.
"That's where they got to be. Let's go and stop the ritual from taking place."
"Okay."
Immediately, he began sprinting towards it, with Julian following right behind him.
