Kairav rolled the toothpick in his big wine glass holding the cherry as his gaze seemed locked on the table but one look at him and Asher knew there was something on his mind.
"Remind me again why I am here, Kairav? You know it is not good for an Alpha and his Beta to be away at the same time, right?"
Kairav lifted his eyes. "Since when has that been a problem for you and I, Ash? Remember who I am? No one would dare attack our pack even in my absence. Not even the Lycans."
"They don't fear you, though," Ash countered, leaning back against his chair.
He spread both hands to either side of the cushion he sat on, crossing his legs as he ticked his tongue away at his friend.
"Now is not the time to go against them. Besides, I am pretty sure I wasn't called from another city to watch you stare at your drink."
"No."
