"Damn it!"
Skai slammed her hand down on the plush king-sized bed. The missing phone gnawed at Skai. Two rings and silence.
Defeated, she pivoted her attention to Mrs. Beck, who remained rooted to the spot, silently observing Skai's outburst.
Skai hastily smoothed down her rumpled outfit. "Oh my, my apologies," she offered with a practised, saccharine smile. But the telltale crinkles around her eyes betrayed the forced cheer.
"No worries at all, dear. The young master assured me your belongings would be retrieved," Mrs. Beck replied in a soothing voice.
Skai straightened her posture and tilted her chin a fraction higher, years of etiquette training kicking in. "What do we have to do next?" she inquired.
