Unknown to Skai, Jared already gave orders to have her breakfast taken to the gazebo in the garden and away from Sydney.
Sunlight dappled through the latticework roof, casting playful patterns on the white tablecloth and the crystal glasses that sparkled like dewdrops.
He led her straight there, his hand brushing hers briefly, sending tingles through her. They didn't stop until they were out of earshot of the mansion.
He wanted her alone.
There was so much he still did not know and understood about her. How did he, a vampire, end up mating a human?
Even though the answers were still far fetched, he at least figured out why she connected to him that way and he could sense her presence through the ache in his chest.
Silence stretched between them for a beat too long as Jared remained unmoving when they arrived at the gazebo only to finally be broken from his internal monologue by Skai's soft voice
