CHAPTER 36
Raphael's voice hardened. "Excuse me." His deep baritone left no room for argument.
The woman blinked, her smile faltering for a moment before returning with a forced brightness. "I'm just trying to be friendly," she mumbled, taking a step back.
Raphael met her gaze with an unreadable expression. "I appreciate the sentiment," he said, his voice clipped. "But..." the icy stare he gave sent shivers running down her spine. "I'm not interested."
"But I..." she reached for his thigh one last time, thinking her earlier action had any effect.
He slammed his hand down on the bar counter, the sudden noise silencing the surrounding chatter. His eyes glinted with a steely glint. "Don't touch me," he commanded, his voice low and dangerous.
A glimmer of fear replaced the woman's earlier confidence as she recoiled. "Suit yourself," she huffed, trying to sound sarcastic. Without delay, she sashayed back to her friends.
