CHAPTER 15 — Insulted: Arranged Date
"Hello Skai."
'So... he knows my name.' Skai pondered within. 'Wait… tsk, he is my boss. Of course, he'll know my name or... Kiera urgh.'
Skai wished to grumble and complain, but she did not want to give Damien the satisfaction of seeing her uncomfortable.
"I didn't know you planned this meeting with Kiera," she began, hoping to get the conversation going.
"Hmm."
Skai arched an eyebrow in response to him. What could have possibly been the matter with him? She was curious as to why he seemed disinterested while evidently orchestrating this.
Inhaling deeply, she clenched her fist against her thigh, determined to maintain her composure and avoid jumping to conclusions. Maybe he was just experiencing a rough patch or something.
Still, she'd have preferred he cancel than come here with this attitude.
"Don't you have something you want to say?" Damien raised an eyebrow. By now, she had become weary of his antics but decided to give it one more shot. "Like an apology of some sort."
"An apology?" Her spine shivered as she felt the icy gaze from his captivating emerald-green eyes. "Who are you, and why should I owe you an apology?"
Skai felt the vigorous and exhilarating thumping of her heart. Little did she anticipate such an unexpected turn of events.
However, much to Damien's surprise, while being aware of Raphael's rendezvous with her, he never anticipated that the mischievous playboy alter ego would find himself in a situation where he owed someone an apology, and Damien had to deliver it on his behalf.
Right about now, Damien was hoping that Raphael would take over. One thing he absolutely despised was having to apologise for something he didn't do.
There were a few instances when he had to clean up after Raphael's mess, but this time he was really annoyed with Raphael for messing up his job and having Davion pay him back. So, he decided that he wouldn't be the one to apologise on Raphael's behalf.
"Tsk. Is this your way of trying to warm your way into my bed or get a favour from me?" Damien asked, changing the direction of things.
"Excuse me!"
"I did not stutter."
"What is wrong with you?" Skai's spontaneous outburst left Damien utterly amazed.
With a touch of displeasure, she couldn't help but contort her face into a scowl, firmly planting both palms on the table while shooting him a piercing look.
"At first, you made me feel incredibly special, going so far as to give me your number. However, when I reached out to you, you abruptly ended the call on me."
That was true.
Although Damien couldn't quite recollect the beginning, he vividly remembered her phone call and his immediate assumption that she was one of the many women Raphael casually charmed.
"Then you saw me at the company and conveniently decided to play ignorant, huh? Fine!"
'Fine?' A puzzled expression crossed his face as he attempted to decipher the meaning behind her use of the word "fine."
"I graciously accepted it. That night might have been a ruse to you, but then you orchestrated this elaborate charade with Kiera. Silly me, I actually thought you intended to apologise for your actions. But no, you had a different agenda altogether—to further humiliate me. Bravo!
"Did I?"
Skai simmered, her cheeks blushing and her frustration gnawing at her.
"Mr. Damien, if you're not in the mood to chat or anything, I won't push you. I'll play along and act like we're strangers, but I won't tolerate any of this nonsense from you!"
It was safe to say that Damien was more than just stunned. Skai's unexpected outburst left him momentarily at a loss for words, but it did provide him with a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
Nevertheless, he remained resolute in his decision to disrupt things for Raphael.
"My point remains, Skai."
Skai's fury was only further provoked by the way Damien spoke, appearing calm and unaffected by any of it. "Mr. Da…"
"I recall that my staff aren't animals, so please refrain from shouting, Skai," he interjected. "Besides, I'd rather have the pleasure of hearing you scream my name while I fuck you hard instead."
Skai's eyes widened in astonishment. A whirlwind of shock and fury was reflected in her gaze.
His insults and disrespect for her knew no bounds.
"It is what you wanted, isn't it? I mean that night when you so eagerly ground your hips against mine, aching so much for my touch, my cock and…"
That was it.
She had grown tired of his unrefined language and was done listening. There was no law forcing her to remain and deal with this bullshit.
With a surge of frustration, she snatched up her purse and stood up suddenly, fully prepared to make her exit. However, his next remarks managed to give her pause.
"Oh, don't tell you the little rabbit is too scared of being eaten by the lion when she eagerly wanted to bed me and..."
His head ached abruptly, his eyes going wild as the next moment Raphael forcefully switched back.
The moment he laid eyes on an enraged Skai, he instinctively reached out for her hand. Surprisingly, what had happened next left Raphael in shock as Skai's palm made swift contact with his cheek.
POW!
The sound of the slap resounded in the restaurant, getting attention from couples present in the lobby.
'What the…!'
"I fucking hate you!" Skai spat out, her hands trembling as her body shook from the intense rage coursing through her.
She had met scumbags before. Her ex was one of them, but upon meeting Damien, Skai sensed that she had finally encountered someone capable of treating a woman with greater respect and genuinely considering her well-being.
But all of her expectations had gone down the drain when he proved to be the worst of his species—male scum.
"Skai!"
"If you do not want me, I never forced you. But to come here and sprout such abominations... Get out of my sight!"
