Skai recognized the sound but her eyes remained fixed on Damien's pocket.
"Why are you staring at me like that when your phone is ringing?"
"Enh?"
She immediately checked her pocket for her phone and pulled it out. Skai's eyes widened when she saw the caller ID.
"It's Jared," she muttered, answering the call. "Jared. How are you? Where are you?" Skai rushed out in one breath.
"Skai." His voice came off low. And for a moment, the only sound was his rapid breathing.
"Jared?" Skai panicked.
Sensing her anxiety, Damien snatched the phone from her hand and pressed it against his ear.
"Jared." Damien breathed into the phone, placing his free hand into his trouser pocket.
Similarly, Jared's mood changed. He wasn't expecting Damien's rude interruption with Skai. His once droopy eyes immediately snapped open as he snarled. "Damien. Why are you with Skai's phone."
