CHAPTER 122
Outside, the street remained eerily quiet. The only sound was the rhythmic ticking of the car cooling down.
Minutes seemed to stretch into an eternity. Jared's vision blurred further, his body heavy with the poison's effects.
Just as he felt himself drifting, a pair of headlights sliced through the darkness, momentarily blinding him.
'Finally.'
A sleek black car pulled up beside him, its engine purring silently. The driver's side door swung open, revealing Stephen, his face etched with concern.
"Master Jared," Stephen said calmly despite the urgency of the situation. "Let me help you."
Gently Stephen helped Jared out of the car and into the back seat of his vehicle. "Hold on, Master Jared," Stephen instructed, reaching for a medical kit strapped to the side of the car. "I'll have you patched up in no time."
