Skai contemplated Shane's offer for some time. He wasn't wrong. Perhaps she did need a new place to lay her head.
Avoiding both Damien and Jared, not to mention Craig, seemed like a fool's errand.
Damien's possessiveness was becoming increasingly difficult to manage, and Jared's constant presence was a painful reminder of the choice she had to make.
"Skai?" Shane's voice broke through the fog of her contemplation.
Skai jolted, the box in her hand nearly slipping from her grasp as she snapped her head away from the floor.
"Huh?" A single word escaped her lips.
"Please, sis," Shane pressed, "I know it may be too much asking this of you but it will put my heart at ease if you do."
She ran a hand through her hair, the gesture betraying the turmoil within. Skai's gut tightened, her mind racing with the implications.
