CHAPTER 103
"Jared!" Skai gasped, reaching out for support but found none.
Before she could register what was happening, her legs gave way. She tripped and fell, the rough stone floor scraping against the side of her knees.
A startled cry escaped her lips as she hit the ground. But her fall was cushioned by strong arms wrapping around her.
"Skai!" Jared's voice boomed with panic. He scooped her up and cradled her close to his chest, the warmth of his body radiating against hers.
Thanks to his speed, he had rushed out of the hot spring when he heard her call his name.
Skai's head lolled back against his shoulder, her vision blurry. She felt a damp cloth pressed against her forehead, and Jared's worried voice murmuring reassurances in her ear.
"Easy, easy," he soothed, carrying her towards a nearby lounge chair. "It's going to be okay." He laid her down gently.
