Chapter 11 - New Neighbors (Part 2)

"No, it's quite heavy," said Aaron. "I just go to the gym now and then." The man seemed to accept his explanation, and Aaron turned and continued walking. 'I can't believe I am the freak now,' thought Aaron as he entered the house, turned to the left, and entered the massive lounge, placing the boxes down. Immediately, he heard a feminine voice.

"Mom! I can't find some of my clothes," said the voice. A woman came out from the kitchen and saw Aaron. She was an African-American brunette with brown eyes. She wore sweatpants with a blue top, and her hair was tied into a ponytail.

"Hello, who might you be?" asked the woman.

"I am Aaron, Aaron Black. I live next door. I am just helping Mr. Tailor move all the boxes. I am your new neighbor," said Aaron as he smiled at her. She smiled back.

"Well, we appreciate the help," said the woman as a frustrated voice came down the stairs.

"Mom, I said I can't find my clothes," said the voice as the girl who was speaking came into view. She was around Aaron's age, with curly light brown hair and green eyes with sharp features. When she saw him, she stopped yelling and greeted him.

"O-oh, hi," she stuttered, clearly not expecting someone her age in the house. Her face felt hot when she realized that she was yelling while there was a guest in their house. Luckily for her, a teen with unruly hair walked past her from behind and just walked out the front door. Aaron could have sworn he heard the boy say, "Smooth…" He shrugged.

"Okay, Bell, let's go outside and find your clothes then," said the woman. Aaron gave her a small smile and a wave as she walked out with her mother, and Aaron followed.

As soon as Aaron came outside again, he picked up another box, making sure it was light before lifting it. The sun was gone, and the night sky was above them. The outdoor lights were now on as he helped them. He learned many things about them, such as they had just moved here a couple of days ago, they were originally from the UK, and they were genuinely kind people, which he happily accepted. They were normal, and he felt comfortable around them. He got along well with the girl's brother, Leo. For a moment, he wished he had never met his friends and had just met Leo instead.

Time went by, and it was nearing eight. "Goodbye, Mr. Tailor," said Aaron as he gave him a light handshake. He turned to Leo and also gave him a handshake. "It was nice meeting you all," said Aaron as he waved to the family and smiled as he left and headed home with a smile on his face.

When he crossed over to his lawn, he walked to the front door and entered the house. He was greeted with the smell of dinner. He walked to the dining room to find his mother and father eating.

"Did you guys know that we have new neighbors?" asked Aaron as he walked to the kitchen to dish up for himself and pour a glass of juice.

"We have new neighbors?" asked his mother with a look of surprise on her face.

"Yes, they moved in a couple of days ago. I was helping them move some of their furniture and boxes in," said Aaron as he sat down and started to eat.

"Well, that's nice," said his father. "Considering you complain when we tell you to clean your room," his dad pointed out, as Aaron looked at him with a somewhat sheepish look on his face.

"Well, I was just trying to be nice," said Aaron. His father smiled.

"Well, there is nothing wrong with that."

Aaron said nothing and continued eating.

"How are they?" his mother asked.

"They are nice people from the UK. They have a daughter and a son around my age," said Aaron with a shrug.

His mother nodded. "I guess I'll have to say hello tomorrow."

She stood up and walked to the kitchen to clean the plates. His father followed suit.

Aaron sat quietly thinking, 'Some normality in my life at least.' He continued eating. A couple of minutes passed, and he was done eating, so he walked to the kitchen and left his plate in the sink, then went to his room and settled for a shower. When he was done, he brushed his teeth and went to sleep.

When he opened his eyes, he sat up and looked at his alarm clock and noticed he woke up a whole hour earlier than his intended time. 'Woah…I wonder what got me up so early?' thought Aaron as he got out of bed and got ready for school.

About three hours later, Aaron walked out of his house to see Leo and his sister about to start walking with a bag on their shoulders. "Hey, Leo!" called Aaron and watched as Leo and his sister turned and looked at him.

"Yes?" asked the teen, his brown hair unruly as usual, although his sister had her hair going all the way down. She had a blue top and black jeans on with some sneakers.

"Where are you guys going?" asked Aaron.

"We are on our way to our new school," answered Leo with a shrug.

Aaron nodded. "But isn't it kind of early for you guys to be going to school yet?" asked Aaron. They had just arrived a couple of days ago.

"Try telling that to my parents," said Leo with a sigh. "We have no choice."

Aaron smiled. "That sucks. What's your new school called?" asked Aaron. He was curious; maybe they were coming to his school or the secondary school in Soft Edge City.

"We are going to…ahhh…?" wondered Leo. He had already forgotten the school's name.

"We are going to a school called Soft Edge High," said Bell with a frustrated sigh. "You are such an airhead," she said as Leo pouted.

"That's cool. That's the same school I go to," said Aaron as he took out his car keys and pressed a button, waiting for the garage to open. "You guys want a lift?" asked Aaron.

"No, it's fine. We wouldn't want to burden your parents," said Leo as his sister nodded in agreement.
