Chapter 23 - can you call this an ambush.

Moment after Demtres chance encounter with what he though might be the two coolest gods ever, mostly because they wore comfortable sports cloths, Demetre felt a light and prickly feeling descended upon him.

This prickly feeling soon changed into Demetre's new body condensing into existence, With clothes and Garments included. With his newly formed eyes, Demetre saw the world of Erebus Online in all of its color and atmosphere. The simple town in which he found himself was bustling with activity and talk, smells of fresh bread and cooked meat drifted around the market.

While taking in his surroundings, Demetre Remembered the Quest that was laid down upon him by the odd gods he met mere moments prior, Demetre re-evaluated his surroundings and started walking towards a building with a hammer and Anvil sign hanging above its door. As a professional fighter in the SCA in the real world, Demetre was privy to the idea that a weapon of heft was important, his thoughts only reinforced by a fantasy world such as Erebus Online.

The shop's walls were practically unviewable with the sheer volume of weapons hanging from their sides, the variety of weapons limited but still impressive. Walking over to a wall full of longer weapons, Demetre Picked out a Long halberd-like polearm, the difference being that instead of an axe-like cutting edge, there was a sledgehammer bellow the spear tip.

Over the course of a week, Demetre cut his way through the forest, forging his way through the Dense and silent environment, the only sound that of distant monsters fighting. in an attempt to construct the temple for the two young gods, he had slaughtered monsters within this very forest and ventured through rough terrain. He had made his way and found a small clearing in the Surrounding forest of Tall, looming, trees which dwarfed any record in the real world.

Seeing that the Human they gave the quest to was on a good start, Clay and Nirin, in godly uniform, were excited to see their first temple built! The excitement around them was so intense that it almost felt tangible.

Finding a clearing Demetre was about to build a small shrine using a fallen tree limb the size of a oak trees trunk , but he was rudely interrupted by two other players walking into the forest clearing at once.

Demetre was shocked. He had power trained himself to get too this forest early just so he wouldn't encounter this problem! To put it into perspective Demetre was currently still level 1 and had played in a fast and powerful manor specializing in burst damage and speed, hitting G in all his stats and F in agility and power. And even then he didn't dare fight the monster in thsi forest as his mission was still displayed as over his abilities!

"Hey man~, sorry but you can't setup shop here man~. We got some godly business to attend to man~." Brought out of his shock, Demetre evaluated the slightly hunched man, who had a bow and daggers, which had just spoken.

Seems to be the leader? Dagger might be for close combat emergencies… or he might have a mixed style.

Focusing on the other individual with the man, Demetre saw a women with dreads and skin of olive. Her weapon of choice was a spear, which she had out and in position to strike, upon her face a wild and bloodthirsty expression was displayed.

Spear? She seems to have some experience in wielding it too.

Halfway through Demetres thoughts, the Spear women ran at him without saying a word, and wildly swung her spear for his neck.

Kicking back to Dodge the swing of the spear women, Demetre stepped back towards her while her balance was off and tried to shatter her kneecaps with a single blow.

With her balence off, her inexperience was visible to anyone. The spear women was unable to take a step back without falling, and even if she did she would still get clipped by the incoming sledge-spear.

With her knees now shattered she was forced to the ground anyways, but not before a arrow came in a bit late in an attempt to help out.

from behind the call of the man with arrows was heard by both Demetre and the Spear women.

"Com'on just retreat man! We can't handle that dude." The relaxed tones in his voice where gone, now replaced with a panic.

"Maybe I would be able to retreat if" the women turned her head and yelled at the man mid battle only to be silenced by her head bursting apart with a sledge-spear following through its previous location.

Maybe I was wrong… they must just be regular gamers, kinda disappointing though.

With this thought, Demetre switched his focus too the man with a bow only to see he had left already. Continuing to make the shrine from earlier, after about twenty minutes Demetre had finished the job and given a small prayer towards the to gods.

In the west Café, Clay and Nirin where both eating some chicken and rice topped with a slightly spicy sauce when they both felt a voice in their heads asking for their approval on the shrine.

"Uhhhh, how do we answer?" Clay asked Nirin, as he didn't remember them going over how to respond to calls.

" We didn't go over it in class," Nirin responded while standing "why don't we go ask.

Running over to divinity class, the two burst through the door and called out to the old teacher who still hadn't given his name yet.

"Hey old man, how do we contact our followers!" Clay spoke first

"Just focus on them and respond with your mind."the old man said with a smile "and please don't call me 'old fart' I have a name"

Clay only heard half of it before he immediately tried to contact the human who had built them a shrine.

"Yo… did you finish the shrine?"

"Oh yes… lord! I have built it in the forest as you asked of me." Demetre replied with a hint of awkwardness in his voice.

"Great!"
