Everyone had been shielding their eyes from the brightness before they heard the sound of an explosion.

Alice was gritting her teeth while denying what she had just witnessed with every fibre of her being. The other examinees and onlookers in the stands were equally in disbelief. Some of the faculty that were observing wore an expression of pride and excitement while others were filled with fear or envy.
[Well well, was not expecting that. Something like this hasn't happened in quite a while kid.]
Lionel was patting Kaito on the shoulder while grinning ear to ear.
[While it's probably unnecessary, seeing as you blew up the soul crystal, why don't you give it a shot and try hitting the dummy with your magic.]
Kaito was confused. He thought the crystal was just a normal magic crystal.
[What do you mean soul crystal?]
Surprised by the sudden remark, Lionel began to explain.
[Hmm? You don't know what a soul crystal is? Guess it is rather hard to come by for common folk. Soul crystals are a special kind of mineral from the Heavens. With the Amalgamation, those from the Heavenly realm could visit Earth and they brought along the mineral with them. These things have a unique property to store and convert power. When something organic comes in contact with it, it forcefully draws in their energy. However, soul crystals will explode if they are overloaded with too much at once. How much it can hold onto depends on the size of the crystal. That ring and stand were also acting as both amplifiers and shields, so that fact that you could make one that size explode is quite astonishing. Your potential could rival some of the strongest out there. Anyways it doesn't mean much if you can't actually use your power. Try hitting that dummy with magic.]
[Got it.]
Kaito turned to face the star stone dummy but only stood with his hands in his pockets. Seeing this Lionel questioned him.
[Do you not actually know how to use your magic power?]
Kaito just ignored him and stared at the dummy. The necklace around his neck gave a faint glow for a moment and Kaito's eyes shone with a momentary purple light. Suddenly the area around the dummy was swallowed by a pillar of purple flames. The flames had a golden hue mixed in and danced in the pillar, almost as if it were alive. If one listened closely, you could swear you heard screams coming from them. The intensity of the heat they gave off could be felt all the way at the top of the stands, as if everyone was being burned by the sun. There was a brief instance of silence before a voice in the crowd called out.
[C...chantless? And at that intensity?]
The old man in the bleachers spoke to the lavender haired woman sitting beside him, smiling in awe.
[Looks like I lost.]
[I'll be coming to collect my winnings after. I want to see just how far this boy can go. There's no doubt he can get in if he wants to though.]
After everyone had gathered their thoughts and processed what they witnessed, those sitting in the stands started clapping and cheering. They did not expect such a monster to appear in an entrance exam. After that spectacle, no one else could measure up. By the time everyone had gone, it was already nightfall.
[Okay. That concludes the practical portion of your exams. About 2000 of you left huh? Now some of you might be questioning how the exam could take place over a week if everything was wrapped up in a day, so let's just jump right into part 3.]
With a snap of his fingers, a large magic circle appeared on the ground where all the entrants were standing. A blinding light flashed and soon everyone found themselves in a forest. Lionel then started to explain to the bewildered examinees.
[Well then, part 3 of the exam is simple. We want you to get a real feel for what life would be like if you continue on this path. This is the real test to see if you make it to Prism Academy or fail. Don't worry, even if you fail it's still impressive you made it this far. The first 2 tests were just to see if you have knowledge and ability. Now you'll be applying both. You may work as a team or individually. The name of the game is reaching the summit of the mountain you see in the distance. As for food and shelter, you can sort that out for yourselves in this place. One word of warning, this forest can be pretty unforgiving and most of you will get hurt. Don't worry, staff will always be watching and we'll make sure you don't die. If you reach the point where you would have, you fail. You have 6 days. Good luck, I look forward to seeing how many of you pass.]
With a salute, a magic circle appeared below Lionel's feet and he disappeared. After he disappeared, everyone started to panic and rush to figure out what to do and how to get to the summit of the mountain.
[This is a pretty demanding entrance exam isn't it Kaito? Wanna work together?]
Zhuo Qianlong was looking at Kaito with eyes that seemed like he was half begging to tag along. Kaito smiled back and the 2 gave each other a high five.
[Sure, let's get moving. We got a long road ahead of us.]
