I was on the south side of the statue, which I found also doubled as a fountain which people were allowed to drink from and had guards stationed around it to keep anyone from desecrating the water.
And because of that, I couldn't see what all the commotion was about.
I did manage to hear what a bunch of people were saying and apparently the Duchess had come out for… Something. I couldn't quite hear with all the shouting going on.
But I knew that this was a special occasion by how rare it was for this to happen by the way the crowd reacted.
I tried to shuffle forwards to get a better look but it was just too crowded. And when I wanted to move back it was too late as too many people had already surrounded me from all sides, wanting to get a look at the duchess.
