Chapter 27 - Fully Awoken

"Our fight will be one for the Gods!" he said, swinging his flail next to him.

"Let them bear witness to your great defeat." I said

"HA! Whoever lives shall be the greatest warrior of all time!" he claimed

Dameon's size is much greater than anyone I have ever seen, and he wielded a gigantic mace connected by a long thick chain. The speed at which he could send it flying at me was insane. The sheer strength behind the attacks could destroy buildings. His bald head was wrapped up in metal and a gray beard covered his face. Wore armor that consisted of two smaller ones with spikes.

Dameon's feet stomped as his giant mace swung violently. He wasn't interested in simply winning the fight. He planned on leaving me in pieces. Even with the extra speed, his size will still present a huge obstacle. All I could do was dodge; I couldn't get close. When it hit the ground, it would cause a small crater and make a small tremor. I tried moving behind him, but he saw me move and ran over. He swung with deadly precision. I had a feeling that even the smallest touch would be devastating for me. He always aimed for my chest or head.

I scanned everything around me. He charged at me and swung his mace. I rolled out of the way before he could hit me. I got back up and dodged another attack and ran for him again. He must've read my movements because he immediately sent the flail in front of me. He had complete control over this monstrous weapon.

"Is this all you got, Rowan?!?!" he shouted

I couldn't respond even if I wanted to. If I stopped thinking or moving, I would die. I ducked under the swing and heard buildings and other structures getting smashed far behind me. I wondered if I could possibly lead it into something and have the chain snap in two or get stuck, but my quickness would not be enough to take the risk. He threw the mace near the edge of town and demolished a wall. It had to have been over 100 feet to demolish it.

Every swing was so powerful, it was surely fatal. There was no time to think, as I barely avoided them. He was unwavering and kept his speed and strength constant. Eventually my luck and reflexes would wax. My breath, panting. Feeling almost like it could be my last. My body ached with fatigue and pain. The constant fear of getting smashed triggered several abnormalities within my body. I never knew someone as large as him could be so fast. My eyes burned and it felt different this time.

"A demon!" he shouted

He swung faster and more accurately, but it didn't matter. He couldn't hit the target. As the flail inched closer, the slower it felt. I was able to easily dodge it and finally close the gap between us. His face changed and he focused more. As I ran at him, he kept jumping back and swinging at me. I easily dodged and kept the momentum going. To the point he couldn't even swing without me getting closer. I have grown weary of the game of cat and mouse. I went as close to his attacks as I could and started striking him with quick speed. If I had the strength to deal heavy blows, I might have defeated him sooner. It was difficult hitting his neck due to his height and giant armor covering his shoulders. Then I saw his full potential. Not only is the mace good for range, but it is just as good as close up too.

He was giving it his all, for sure. He swung the mace, but now it looked like he had four arms. I had never seen his arm swing that quickly and the force seemed magnified. The flail came in from multiple angles. Dodging was not the only way. Every clash caused a slight delay in the attacks. It wasn't much, but I was able to dodge some swings that way. I was in no way in a good position. I now had to parry the mace and dodge the next attack. After a few, I realized his speed was different than before. Every swing the size of it got bigger and it moved faster and faster.

More and more, the swings were getting less predictable. It was hard to move while dodging them, but if I got stuck, I was done. I stepped back and jumped out of the way of the flail, but it would not allow me to get far enough from him. He kept me close but far enough that I couldn't touch him. Sweat was dripping down his face, and he was breathing heavily. His massive size and speed cost a lot of energy. Unfortunately, he wasn't winded.

He swung the flail up high, then grabbed the chain. The size of the weapon and size of the man made the thing seem proportional. If not bigger, like a child's toy in his hands. Then with two hands, he proceeded to smash the flail into me. Before it would hit me, I had to move further and further away. However, his speed only got faster, and his attacks kept coming. I could only dodge so far until I was stuck. I had no option. The ground violently shook as it sped towards me. I felt I was losing my eyesight. I couldn't think straight. Maybe the energy went to my legs as it was faster than I've ever moved before. I barely dodged and the mace soared past my face. I dashed and rushed him. Parring all of his attacks and getting in close. He was unable to bring it back and defend himself in time. This was my chance. His leg. I cut his chest and hit his arm too. He didn't even flinch and now the chain on the flail went towards me. A smile snaked across his face. In almost slow motion I watched it come to my head. The chain wrapped around my torso; I placed my sword close to my chest before the chain tightened. I was able to break free before the mace smashed into the ground where I once stood. My breathing became staggered. As he swung, I dashed under it and stabbed him through the chest. The mace fell to the ground, and he let go of the chains. He stared at me, blood trickling from his mouth.

"Chief Salazar… is at Mount Ginnahin. Last I saw him." he said

His smile grew and I pulled out my sword. Blood spilled out like a waterfall.

"You... were extraordinary... Rowan... the best... fight... in my... entire life..." he said before collapsing.
