Chapter 3 - Class Choice

Splat!

Woosh!

Jake was still killing the monsters with full force swinging his sword around as fast as possible. In one swing, he had killed the centipede.

As they advanced, more and more monsters were starting to notice them.

It was a sight to behold. The centipedes were desperate to eat to humans in front of them.

Max seeing this, started to contribute as Jake now seemed overwhelmed by the huge arrival of the centipede.

[You have killed a Level 3 Giant Centipede.]

[You have killed a ...]

[You have leveled up.]

Even with the help of Max, they were outnumbered and pushed into a corner. Jake fought with all his might on the other hand Max continued to act weak as he killed one or two centipedes, their clothes torn and their bodies covered in cuts and bruises.

Seeing the situation unfolding, Jake decided it was better for Max to be a sacrificial lamb and tried to throw him in the swarm of centipedes.

Max acted scared as Jake lunged toward him. "What are you doing?" he yelled, dodging Jake's grasp.

"We can't fight them all, Max," Jake spat out, sweat pouring down his face. "We need to create a diversion. Maybe I can make a break for it if they're all focused on you."

After hearing this phrase, Max dropped the acting and put on a face devoid of any emotions. He was looking at Jake with eyes that screamed vengeance for the pain he had suffered all those years.

"No, I think it will be you who's going to be the sacrifice," said Max

"Haha, do you think, you can overpower me?" replied Jake, laughing at the words that were coming out of the mouth of Max.

"Yes, from the beginning I was only acting weak to fool you but since the start of the tutorial, I have been leveling up and getting stronger. I'm not the one in danger Jake, you are!" shouted Max angrily as if every emotion he had endured during those years was resurfacing.

After saying this, Max pushed Jake into the centipedes without any hesitation.

He watched as Jake was getting eaten alive by the monsters. His arms getting ripped off his body.

"Ahhhhhhhhh! Come on Max, help me. Help meee." cried Jake

But Max didn't move a single as he watched coldly Jake die.

[Some who were supporting Jake are furious that you killed him.]

[You have killed a Level 8 Human.]

[You have gained a lot of experience.]

[You have leveled up.]

[You have leveled up.]

[You are now ranked 2nd.]

Those messages popped up as the sound of Jake being eaten stopped. It looked like Lucifer was encouraging murder among us, humans.

However, if humans on the surface found out they could get rewards from killing humans, it would mean chaos, pure chaos.

Back in the streets, people were screaming left and right.

"Kiyaaaaaaah! Why are you doing this?" said a young woman.

"Nothing personal, I only need your experience points," said a criminal, as he decapitated the young woman

A lone figure dressed in all black stood perched on a rooftop, her eyes trained on the street below. Her long hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail, and a silver mask obscured her features.

Suddenly, she jumped from the top of the building. Landing on her two legs without receiving an injury, it looked as if she had exceeded the capacities of a normal human being.

Without another second to waste, she started running in the direction of the criminal.

As she arrived close to the criminal, she was furious "Why did you do this?" shouted the mysterious girl.

"Well, I needed experience points, it's as simple as that. Why? Are you mad?" said the criminal, mocking the girl

What the man didn't know was that the girl was ranked 1st on the rankings. She was the strongest person on Earth.

His mockery angered her. So, she decided to kill the man in front of her with a single slash to the neck, the criminal didn't even see the strike. It was too fast for the eyes of a normal human.

"The people who are treating humans as experience points. I suggest you stop because if I see you one of you killing from your kind. I will make sure to kill you." she declared, brimming with confidence that she could take on everyone in the area.

The people around them looked at the situation and couldn't believe their eyes, it looked straight out of a novel.

A young woman dropped from the sky without even hurting herself ran up to a man and killed him in a single strike.

Back in the dungeon, Max was oblivious to the situation happening right now.

Max had reached level 10 and could feel stronger after each stat point he allocated.

[You have reached Level 10.]

[You can now choose your class.]

[The classes you can choose from are Swordsman, Paladin, Assassin, Mage, Summoner, and Berserker.]

[When choosing a class you will receive a special stat.]

[You can access the description of each class by simply thinking about it.]

Max read through the descriptions of each class: Swordsman, Paladin, Assassin, Mage, Summoner, and Berserker.

The Swordsman was a straightforward class, good at dealing damage with swords. The special for the swordsman stat was weapon mastery.

The Paladin was a hybrid class, capable of dealing damage and healing allies. For the paladin, it was healing

The Assassin was a stealthy class, able to deal with surprise attacks and move quickly around the battlefield. Stealth was the special stat for assassins.

The Mage was a powerful class, capable of dealing massive damage with spells. The special stat for mages was Wisdom.

The Summoner was a versatile class, capable of summoning creatures to fight for them. Creature control was the special stat for the summoners.

And the Berserker was an aggressive class, able to deal massive damage with their brute strength but had a lot of drawbacks when using his skills. The special stat for the class berserker was Speed.

As he read through each class, he weighed the pros and cons. He liked the idea of being a Swordsman, but he wanted a class that could deal more damage.

The Paladin sounded interesting, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to focus on support.

The Assassin seemed fun, but he didn't want to be too squishy. The Mage sounded powerful, but he didn't want to be too reliant on mana.

The Summoner was versatile, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to focus on controlling creatures.

Finally, the Berserker sounded like the perfect fit. He wanted to deal as much damage as possible and didn't mind being reckless.

[You have chosen the class, Berserker.]

[You have obtained the stat Speed.]

[By increasing this stat, you will become faster while moving and while swinging your weapon.]
