Dave sat at his desk, staring blankly at the computer screen. The hum of the office buzzed around him, but his mind was elsewhere. 'Why am I even here?' he thought. 'This job barely pays the bills, and with the system, I don't need it anymore.' He sighed, glancing at the clock. 'It's time to move on.'
His phone buzzed on the desk, snapping him out of his thoughts. It was a message from his friend, Mark. Dave opened the text:
"Hey, man! Just wanted to remind you about my birthday party in 3 weeks, on the 22nd. Gonna be epic! Oh, and by the way... Sarah's coming with her new rich boyfriend. Just giving you a heads-up."
Dave's heart sank for a moment. Sarah, his ex-girlfriend, had left him for some wealthy guy because she couldn't stand his low-paying job and his family's financial struggles. But now, things were different. He had the system.
'She's going to regret leaving me,' Dave thought, a determined look crossing his face. 'I'm not the same guy she dumped.'
He took a deep breath and stood up. 'It's time to quit,' he decided, feeling a sense of freedom wash over him. He walked over to his manager's office, knocked on the door, and entered.
"Dave, what's up?" his manager asked, looking up from his paperwork.
"I'm quitting," Dave said confidently. "I appreciate the opportunity, but it's time for me to move on."
His manager blinked in surprise. "Are you sure, Dave? You're one of our best employees."
Dave nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure. Thanks for everything."
After a brief conversation, Dave walked out of the office, feeling lighter than he had in years. As he stepped outside, the sun hit his face, and he couldn't help but smile. 'This is just the beginning,' he thought.
Just then, the system's voice echoed in his mind, "Congratulations, Host! For making a life-changing decision, you've been awarded a special gift."
Dave's heart raced. 'What kind of gift?' he wondered. Before he could ask, a message appeared in his mind: "You've received a luxury apartment in the city center, valued at $1,000,000, along with $100,000 in your bank account."
Dave's jaw dropped. 'An apartment and $100,000? This system is incredible!'
But then, another thought crossed his mind, and he couldn't help but chuckle. 'Wait, why did I get system points before? I need money right now, not system points!'
He shook his head, laughing as he walked away from his old life, ready to embrace the new one.
