Once they were ready to leave the bathroom, Harry and Michael, quickly followed Daphne out of the bathroom, mostly because they had to hurry, since the potion only lasted for an hour or so. At the same time, Thomas and Adam, who were under an invisibility spell, courtesy of Thomas's magic, stood behind Daphne, just in case things didn't go as planned.
As they walked through the corridors, they tried to act like Crabbe and Goyle, but it was not easy. Harry felt clumsy and stupid in Crabbe's body, and Michael felt sick and sweaty in Goyle's. Something that made Thomas, Adam, and Daphne giggle the whole way.
"Shut up, you three," Harry whispered to them. "You're drawing attention to us."
"Sorry, guys," Thomas said, trying to stifle his laughter. "But you have to admit, you look hilarious. Besides, there aren't all that many students left anyways."
"C'mon, Harry, let us enjoy your new looks," Adam added. "You should see yourself. You look like a gorilla with glasses."
"As for you, Michael," Daphne said. "You look like a pig with a wig."
Harry and Michael glared at them, after all, compared to their friends, they did not find their situation amusing at all.
"This is your fault, Tom," Harry said. "You made into."
"I did not," Thomas protested. "I gave you exactly what you asked for. Crabbe and Goyle's hairs."
"Then how do you explain this?" Michael asked, pointing at his face.
"It's not like they are handsome anyways." Daphne said while shrugging her shoulders.
Not wanting to give their friends anymore reasons to laugh at them, Harry and Michael push forward, despite not knowing the way to Slytherin common room. Luckly for them, Daphne took the lead as soon as she realizes that these two idiots didn't knew the way. And once she was in the lead, it didn't take long at all to reach the dungeons, where the air was cold and damp and the walls were lined with torches and portraits of grim-looking wizards. And Harry was the only one who felt a shiver run down his spine.
They took a corner close to the Slytherin common room when Harry bumped into someone. He looked up and saw a familiar face.
"Ouch! Watch where you're going, you oaf!" Percy snapped at Harry.
"Sorry, sir," Harry said, in a low voice.
Percy looked at him for a few seconds not being too keen on talking to these three Slytherin students.
"What are you doing here… Crabbe, right?" Percy asked. "Shouldn't you be in your common room?"
Harry tried to think of an answer, but nothing came to his mind that would not make Percy suspicious of them.
"W… we were just… um…" Harry stammered.
"I needed some help carrying some books back to the library," Daphne said, coming to his rescue.
Percy looked at her with a frown, not believing even one bit that these two boys went anywhere near a library, not to mention putting their hands on more than one book.
"Really?" Percy asked, skeptically. "And what books were they?"
Daphne thought quickly. She had to come up with some plausible titles that Crabbe and Goyle might have borrowed.
"They were… they were…" Daphne said, stalling for time.
She glanced at the books that Percy was holding in his arms. She saw that they were about history, politics, and law. She decided to use them as inspiration.
"They were… A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot," Daphne said, naming the first book that came to her mind.
Percy raised an eyebrow. He did not expect Crabbe and Goyle to be interested in history.
"Really?" Percy asked, again turning his head towards the two boys. "And what did you learn from it?"
A voice suddenly echoed behind the kids. Draco Malfoy was strolling toward them, and for the first time in his life, Harry was pleased to see him.
"There you are," he drawled, looking at them. "Where have you been? I've been looking for you. I want to show you something really funny."
Malfoy glanced witheringly at Percy and then at Daphne.
"And what're you doing down here, Weasley?" he sneered.
Percy looked outraged.
"You want to show a bit more respect to a school prefect!" he said. "I don't like your attitude!"
Malfoy sneered and motioned for Harry and Michael to follow him. Harry almost said something apologetic to Percy but caught himself just in time. The two transformed boys hurried after Malfoy, who said as they turned into the next passage, "That Peter Weasley …"
"Percy," Daphne corrected him, earning herself a glare from Daddy's dearest boy.
"Whatever, Greengrass." Malfoy retorted at her before turning his attention back to his goons. "I've noticed him sneaking around a lot lately. And I bet I know what he's up to. He thinks he's going to catch Slytherin's heir single-handed and earn himself some hero time."
Draco laughed at his own words while Harry and Michael could only force themselves to at least seem to laugh. Meanwhile, Thomas and Adam were holding onto Daphne's shoulder just so that she knew they were behind her.
When they all reached the entrance to the Slytherin common room, Draco froze and like a robot, he turned towards his goons. "What was the password again?"
Unfortunately for him, neither Harry nor Michael knew the password, and once again, Daphne came to their rescue.
"It's pure blood. I thought you out of all of the people would remember it."
Rather than arguing with Daphne, Draco chooses to sneer at her, before walking inside the common room.
Harry and Michael followed him, hoping that he would not notice anything strange about them. Thomas and Adam also slipped in behind them, while Daphne, walked slowly behind them.
The common room was a large, dimly lit chamber, decorated with green and silver banners. There were several couches and armchairs around a fireplace, and Draco stopped near them.
"Wait here," Malfoy turned to Harry and Micael, motioning them to a pair of empty chairs set back from the fire. "I'll go and get it … my father just sent it to me."
Wondering what Malfoy was going to show them, the two boys sat down, doing their best to look at home. Thomas and Adam stood behind them being as quiet as they could while Daphne sat on a couch on the other side of the room, taking one of the books to read.
Malfoy came back a minute later, holding what looked like a newspaper clipping before thrusting it under Harry's nose.
"That'll give you a laugh," he said.
Thomas, Adam, and Michael saw Harry's eyes widen in shock before he gave Malfoy a forced laugh.
It had been clipped out of the Daily Prophet, and it said:
INQUIRY AT THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC
Arthur Weasley, Head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office, was today fined fifty Galleons for bewitching a Muggle car.
Mr. Lucius Malfoy, a governor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where the enchanted car crashed earlier this year, called today for Mr. Weasley's resignation.
"Weasley has brought the Ministry into disrepute," Mr. Malfoy told our reporter. "He is unfit to draw up our laws and his ridiculous Muggle Protection Act should be scrapped immediately."
Mr. Weasley was unavailable for comment, although his wife told reporters to clear off or she'd set the family ghoul on them.
"Well?" said Malfoy impatiently as Michael handed the clipping back to him. "Don't you think it's funny?"
Michael gave him a forced laugh while praying to god that his friends would not do anything to Malfoy.
"Arthur Weasley loves Muggles so much he should snap his wand in half and go and join them," said Malfoy scornfully. "You'd never know the Weasleys were purebloods, the way they behave."
"At least they are smarter than you." Daphne's voice came from the back of the room making Draco sneer in her direction before lashing out at her for being friends with them and Tracey.
"What did you say, Greengrass?" Draco asked, angrily.
"You heard me, Malfoy," Daphne said, boldly. "You're a bigot and a bully. You have no right to judge the Weasleys or anyone else."
Draco stood up from the couch and walked towards Daphne.
"How dare you talk to me like that, you filthy mudblood?" Draco spat.
Daphne gasped. She felt hurt and insulted by Draco's slur, After all, while not shouting like a certain someone that she was a pure-blood, she did not care about blood status, but that didn't mean she wasn't proud of her family.
Not wanting to give her any time to react, Draco reached for his wand, intending to hex Daphne, but before he could even touch his wand, something, or better said someone took his legs from under him sending the blonde boy's face first into the floor.
Draco groaned out in pain and after a few seconds of intimate contact with the floor, he slowly got up, looking redder than Rias's hair.
"What the hell! Greengrass if this was your doing, I swear on my family name you will pay! Just like Saint Potter, the Mudbloods' friend. He's another one with no proper wizard feeling, or he wouldn't go around with that jumped-up Granger Mudblood. And people think he's Slytherin's heir!"
Hearing Draco's words, all five of them stopped and listened, hoping that this idiot would tell them more about the heir or at least give them so clues about who it was.
"I wish I knew who it is," said Malfoy petulantly. "I could help them."
That came as a shock to all of them, but that didn't stop Harry from speaking his mind unconsciously.
"You don't know?"
"You know I haven't, Crabbe, how many times do I have to tell you?" snapped Malfoy. "And Father won't tell me anything about the last time the Chamber was opened either. Of course, it was fifty years ago, so it was before his time, but he knows all about it, and he says that it was all kept quiet and it'll look suspicious if I know too much about it. But I know one thing, last time the Chamber of Secrets was opened, a Mudblood died. So, I bet it's a matter of time before one of them gets killed this time… I hope it's Granger or even better Grayson."
As soon as he heard what Draco said about Hermione, Thomas didn't care anymore about him and punched the blonde boy so hard that Draco fell on his back with his eyes rolled. The poor boy was out cold.
Thomas's sudden action shocked his friends, mostly because Thomas was not someone who was easily angered by mere words. But that didn't hold for long as Daphne quickly realized what her friend had just done.
"Come on, let's go!" She said, grabbing Thomas by the arm.
"Yeah, let's go!" Adam said, following him.
Harry and Michael also ran towards the exit, glad that other than Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle the rest of the Slytherin students that remained over the holidays weren't in the common room.
After running for a while, the five of them finally stopped when they were inside the bathroom on the second floor. They locked the door behind them and leaned against the walls. "Are you guys, okay?" Hermione who was shocked to see all of them running into the bathroom asked, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, I think so," Harry said. "The potion should wear off soon."
"Good," Michael said, feeling his face. "I can't wait to get rid of this ugly mug."
"Me neither," Harry agreed.
At the same time Harry, Adam, Michael, and Daphne looked at Thomas, who was sitting on the floor, with his head in his hands.
"Thomas, are you okay?" Ron asked, kneeling next to him. While Hermione and Tracey walked closer to him too.
Thomas lifted his head and looked at his friends.
"I'm sorry, guys," Thomas said. "I'm sorry I messed up everything."
"Hey, don't be sorry," Harry said. "You did what you thought was right."
"Yeah, you stood up for Hermione and Tracey," Michael said. "That was brave of you."
"And you knocked out Malfoy," Daphne said. "That was awesome of you."
Thomas smiled weakly at them, but deep down he knew his emotions got the better of him, again. Then again maybe Bahamut's influence on his body was slowly making its presence felt.
Hermione decided to change the subject after hearing what Thomas had done. "So, have you guys found anything about the heir of Slytherin?"
"Well, not exactly," Harry said. "We found out that Draco is not the heir, and he doesn't know who it is either."
"Really?" Ron asked, surprised. "How did you find that out?"
"He told us," Michael said. "He said that his father won't tell him anything about the last time the Chamber was opened and that he wishes he knew who the heir is, so he could help them."
"That's horrible," Tracey gasped out in fear. "He wants to help the heir kill Muggle-borns?"
"That's what he said," Daphne said. "He even hoped that it would be Hermione or Tom."
