[Day 2]
If anyone were to enter the corridor at this moment, they would see what was akin to what could be considered a mummy with shoulder length black hair and empty eye sockets filled with a black energy was sitting on the floor, staring blankly into space with its mouth agape.
That very same mummy-like thing, which was actually Abel, was staring at his status screen in despair. How weak was he?
He was not able to fathom how he had such pitiful stats other than his spirit, which was leagues better than the stats like vitality, agility, and dexterity.
'Hey System, what the hell is with these stats? Where are my promised perks? There should be some OP giftpack that solves all my problems, shouldn't there?!' Abel said this while trying his best to produce tears from his dried-up tear ducts.
[Well, host, I'm sorry to say this, but the System still needs to level up for any other perks other than the status screen to be unlocked.] The little girl's voice sounded wronged and irritated by Abel's remarks about the System.
[Also, please, would you give me a name so that I can manifest in the real world?] This time, the voice switched to such a soft tone, barely being above a whisper so suddenly that Abel thought he'd get whiplash from it.
Releasing a breath of disappointment as dry as the Sahara Desert, Abel replied, 'Sigh. I'm sorry; it's not your fault, and I would gladly give you a name. Hmmm, how about Omi? It's short for Omisha and is the name of a god of birth and death.'
"Thank you for giving me such a beautiful name, master!"
Abel was so immune to getting scared at this moment that he just turned his head to the left, black lines covering his face, where he saw a tiny fairy that wore a black and green dress and had black and green hair with one green and one pure black pupil.
Although Abel hadn't realized it yet, he wasn't shy or feeling attracted to the fairy on his shoulder, unlike before he had become what was still only known as a Husk.
'Why do you have a voice like a little girl but such a mature face and body?'
"That's because I've been trapped in the crystal within your chest for supereons. So no, I'm not a child; I am actually quite old." Omi said while folding her arms beneath her miniscule breasts while pouting.
Now Abel just felt shocked because, as far as he knew, a supereon consisted of multiple eons that didn't actually have a set number of years to them. So as far as he knew, she could be trillions of years old, if not quadrillions of years old.
'So, you don't actually know how long it has been, do you?'
"No, I don't." Omi answered in a whisper while lowering her quickly reddening face.
'Well, getting back to the main topic, do I get a giftpack? You never answered that question.'
"Ah! Sorry, master, I must have forgotten. Yes, you do have a giftpack. Would you like to claim it?" She said with mischievous eyes as if an opportunity to play a prank had come, which went unnoticed by Abel.
'Finally, some good news! Yes, please claim the giftpack for me!' Abel said with what could be said was shiny eyes, even though there weren't even eyelids or eyes to begin with.
[You have one new giftpack, please look in your inventory to receive it.] At the same time that Omi spoke, a screen popped up with the exact same words.
'Wait, I have an inventory?!'
"Yes, you do! Just think about the word like you did with your status screen, and it should appear; you can even see the option on the top of the screen to swap between the two."
Abel did as Omi said and saw a screen that said [Status] [Inventory] with four rows and four columns on the screen below those words, with the first one having a gift within.
He clicked on the gift as soon as he saw it, which caused bright fireworks to go off, blinding Abel temporarily, and when he finally could see again, there were still white spots within his vision.
Looking down, he saw what looked like a broken walking stick and what appeared to be a stone at first glance, but when he picked it up, he realized that it was actually a stone ring.
Still having hope in the almighty system, he used Appraise for the first time ever, focusing on the object and thinking about using appraise.
When the skill was activated, he felt something flow from his chest and up to his eyes, making him remember what Omi said about there being a crystal within his chest and decided to ask about it later on.
The first object he used appraise on was the stick.
-----------------------------------------
[Item Name: Broken Stick?]
[Description: Your level is not high enough to Appraise this item, and it only shows what is directly in front of you, which is a broken stick.]
-----------------------------------------
After that waste of mana, Abel was considering whether or not he should use it on the ring, finally deciding to use it anyway.
-----------------------------------------
[Item Name: Stone Ring?]
[Description: What did you expect? It's a Stone Ring and your Appraise skill is too low to know anything else.]
-----------------------------------------
Looking at the sarcastic reply of the system and Omi, who was trying to hide her giggles, Abel had the sudden urge to give her something to laugh about through torture.
Omi suddenly felt a chill run down her spine and stood up straight, slowly turning around to find a squinting Abel looking at her.
'What do you want me to do with you? Stretch your wings or tickle you till you faint?'
"I'm sorry, master, I'll never do it again!" Omi said this with small tears in her eyes while kneeling on Abel's shoulder.
The last thing that she saw before getting tickled to near death was Abel's hand...
