It was a quiet and calm night in a thick wooded forest, which was populated with many animals that looked normal if you could look past their weirdly colored bodies that glowed with a lumonesicse of a firefly. Within this forest was a young man mindlessly wandering on the worn out path that was well maintained despite the lack of humans, avoiding the different bird-like cat creatures that lived in the trees and the lizards on the ground. As he kept walking trying to find a different path to take, he begin to feel as if he was going in a loop that he couldn't get out of.Stopping for a bit taking in his surroundings that had stayed calm, he laid a rock near the base of one of the trees and began to walk ahead until he saw the rock that he just placed at the tree. He looked around trying to understand what was happening and where he was at and why he kept on coming back here.
"What is this place?" the teen said out loud, scaring some of the wild life that was near him.
'This is the in-between, a place that you should learn to be in.' a whispery voice echoed around him which was accompanied by a chilled breeze.
"Wait who are you!? What's going on?" the teen asked as he whipped his head back and forth trying to find the location of the voice but couldn't pinpoint the exact location.
'I cannot answer all your questions you have, but soon enough you'll learn everything that you need to know about this place.' The voice said to the teen once again. The teen was met with ringing in his ears as he was trying to get his bearings after everything that had just happened .He began wandering around, as he walked he heard a twig snap and turned to look for the sound and a group of people rushed the way towards him. With this the teen began to run, he didn't know where to go as he was still stuck in this hell hole of a loop. As his breath became more out of control the group of people appeared out of nowhere, Managing to catch him and pin him down to where he couldn't move . With a harsh tug on the teen's hair, they lifted his head so he could see the person in front of him.
"Marvin?" He asked as his vision began to fade to black and the noise of someone yelling filled his ears. . .
"Jacob, get up, you'll be late for school if you don't!" An older woman with brown hair yelled from the bottom of the stairs at her son, who was still snoozing the morning away in his room.
"Five more minutes, mom.." Jacob said in a quiet voice as he tried to go back into the dream that had plagued his mind for years.
"I gave you five more minutes an hour ago, it's seven forty-six right now!" His mother said, storming into his room and throwing the curtains open letting the sun in that beamed into his eyes.
"AHHHH ''Jacob yelled and shot himself up in shock from the sun beaming into his eyes. Rolling out of his bed onto the floor to stare up at his mother, who was now giggling to herself as she held his sister who also learned that it was funny when this happens. Once she left his room, he ran over to his dresser and got his clothes from the spot he put them in last night and quickly put his clothes and shoes on. After he finshed brushing his hair and ran into the living room grabbing his backpack, and yelled out.
"Bye Mom, I love you!"
Running from the door of his house and into the street making all the turns he needs to get to his school. As he dogged all the people on the sidewalk and made his final turn and was faced with his school. Running into the gates and passed more groups of kids he ran to a group closer to the door and skidded to a stop.
"Woah, man! We almost thought you wouldn't make it," A boy on the slim tanner side said as he saw Jacob stop at the group.
"Sorry, you guys, I slept in today," Jacob stated quickly in between breaths as he looked up to his friends.
"Isn't that every single day now?" A girl who resembled the boy in front of him said teasingly towards the out-of-breath boy as she threw her arm over his shoulder adding more weight onto his backpack.
This is Marco and Maddie, they are twins. They look very similar, but are two very different people when it comes to personality. Marco is a shyer-held-back kid with nerdy-looking glasses to complement his short but shaggy hair and his bright blue eyes that stand out against his dark skin tone. And Maddie was energetic and outgoing with a wide smile to complete her look, with her semi-long hair that framed her face and her matching eye color that she shared with her brother.
"You missed Sam today,'' Maddie teased Jacob by pouting her lip a little bit. It was known amongst the group that Jacob was extremely nice to Sam but that was because he knew Sam for a long while. And also that Sam likes him, which he didn't mind, but it wasn't the person he had his eyes on.
"Wait, I did?!" Jacob exclaimed, playing into their little joke, just for their entertainment.
"Yeah, you did, but there's always tomorrow," Maddie told him in a comforting manner and a slight wink to signify what she meant.
"It doesn't matter, Jacob. She wouldn't have noticed you anyway," a taller boy who looked the same age as Jacob, but with dark grayish hair and green eyes said to him.
"MARVIN!" Maddie yelled at the boy, now known as Marvin, now he was an interesting character, he is what the group has deemed the smart one as he knows almost anything, well besides when someone is trying to hint that they like him for almost a year or so.
"You aren't helping, man," Marco told Marvin with a harsh sneer at the debbie downer who was now leaning on Jacob with his elbow on Jacob's shoulder.
"I mean, she's never mentioned a thing about you when she and Harrison have hung out," Marvin states to everyone, which got him even more looks
"You could just always go-" Marvin continued speaking, but was interrupted by Jacob.
"Marvin I appreciate you trying to help and all, but please just shut up." Jacob didn't feel like listening to Marvin's help. It wasn't like it was going to help anyways Marvin had never dated anyone.
"Okay, but we should get to class because we're gonna be late," Marco told everyone after he got done looking up from his phone and they went their separate ways.
As Jacob sat at his desk as the teacher spoke up.
"I want everyone to do their work from yesterday now. If you have finished that, then you can do whatever homework you have."
"Hey "
"Hey" A voice behind Jacob whispered to try and get his attention but failed until a paper ball hit him from behind.
"What?" Jacob said, turning around at the person who happened to be the Harrison that Marvin was talking about earlier.
"Can you get Marvin for me?" Harrison asked with an apologetic gaze in his eyes. He pats Marvin on his shoulder and points at Harrison once he turns around. Marvin looks back at Harrison and stands up, goes back to where Harrison is, and sits down.
"Stupid work" Jacob whispers to himself, not really expecting a response
"Don't worry about it," Marvin said to Jacob
"Easy for you to say Mister Smarty Pants." Jacob retorted back at him
"I used my phone for the questions," Marvin told Jacob while sticking out his tongue.
"And yes, you can copy them, " Marvin said as he grabbed Jacob's phone and pulled out his homework from his bag and took a photo of it, and handed Jacob's phone back to him.
After that the bell rang Marvin and Jacob walked out of the classroom and to the front of the school, where they see their friends, Marco and Maddie, talking to their other friend Eliza who recently changed her hair which used to be black but she added two blond streaks to the two pieces of hair that framed her face.
"Hey, you guys!" Eliza yells once she sees Jacob and Marvin walk into the front, this is Eliza she kinda like the mom of the group but a little different in a way, we also have a feeling she likes Marvin but no matter what I and Marco say or do neither Maddie nor Eliza will budge on the matter.
"Hey!" Marvin replied to Eliza while waving his hand up in the air.
"So is Marvin the Magnificent going with us to the smoothie shop downtown today?" Maddie asked while poking him.
"Sorry, I can't. Got some work to do for my mom. Maybe another day?" Marvin said to them, scratching the back of his head, and headed off from the group in a slight rush.
"Yeah, another day," Eliza comments under her breath but loud enough for Jacob to hear her. The gang continues to the smoothie shop to get some drinks before heading to central park to catch up on how their school day was.
"Eliza, why do you look so sad? Is it because Marvin isn't here?" Maddie teased her by shoving her ever so slightly.
"No, it's…not…because he isn't here.." Eliza replied.
"IT IS " Maddy yelled out loud enough that the next state over could have heard her.
"No, Maddie it's not that. I just thought we would all be hanging out together today, that's all." Eliza responds with slight sadness. Eliza liked when everyone hung out and no one felt left out when they were all together.
"Oh, well it's okay Eliza, we get what you're saying, but we did plan this last minute so it's not his fault he couldn't come," Jacob explained to Eliza before putting a conforming hand on her shoulder.
"Hey, I know something that will cheer you up!" Jacob tells her.
"Really? And what would that be?" Eliza asked like she already knew what it was.
"This!" Jacob yells as He runs over to where Marco was sitting on the mary-go-round and spins him as fast as he can, waiting a few minutes before stopping it for Marco's sake, causing Eliza to begin laughing.
"Okay, you were right. That cheered me up!" Eliza laughed as Marco wandered over to the trash can while stumbling a lot.
"Well, it didn't for me," Marco said from the trash can he was throwing up in.
Everyone burst out laughing at what had just happened. As the evening went on more and more fun they had the faster time went by, it wasn't until later when the sun was setting that Jacob got home.
