"I love your fire, Omega." One of the Alphas approached me. His green hair was a bit long. He had it packed up in a ponytail, while a few cascaded down his face. He looked just like the Alpha who was at loggerhead with Storm throughout the comic, the only difference was the colour of the eyes. His were violet, while that of the Alpha in the comic was green, just like his hair.
"I've heard of this term before." I pursed my lips, "why don't you think of something more original? Or haven't you gotten tired of such corny lines"
My answer shocked the others, who looked like they couldn't believe that I was the one who said those words.
I bet they expected me to cower at their feet.
Pfft.
They don't know who their grandfather is.
"Let's leave here, Brys!" Fan was still insistent. "You can't fight them off on your own! We need to leave! I can't have you die. I still need to level up!" He was at the point of tears.
I scoffed. "If there should be anyone to die here, I won't be the one!" I whisper-yelled at him.
The omega, behind me, tugged on my shirt as her hands shook.
"Don't worry, I won't let them hurt you," I promised before I turned to the bullies. "Why don't you—"
The words froze in my throat when I discovered that they had turned into their wolves.
Shit!
I'm not even certain I can hit them in their human form. Now that they have turned into their wolf form, it's almost impossible to beat them.
The green wolf in front barred his teeth at me as the others followed suit.
I turned to the girl behind me. "Things have gotten out of hand. When I tell you to run, you have to do that without looking back, did you hear me?"
She furiously nodded.
"Now, it's time to run!"
I took her hand in mine, and dashed towards the forest; a wrong move on my part. But you can't blame me for that.
The wolves were blocking the way back to school. We can't possibly be run through them if we are escaping.
The wolves gave chase as the girl and I ran as fast as we could.
Though we got a head start before them, I'm aware that it won't be for long until we are caught by the ferocious wolves, who look like they will tear us limb by limb.
"Fan! Don't you have a trick to help me? In the few transmigration novels I read, there is something like a shop where you can get things. Don't you have it?" I yelled as we continued to run deeper into the forests, with the wolves tirelessly behind us.
Their growls were getting louder, and I knew that it won't be for long until they caught up with us.
Yet, I'm not going to give up, not when I've promised to keep the Omega safe.
"Why will I have a trick when you haven't even completed an assignment that you were given?" He flew next to me. "Trust me, I would have loved to help you, so you will complete your assignments and return home, while I level up. But the store is locked!" He complained.
"Keep you—"
The girl with me yelped in pain as she fell on the ground, and I too fell with her.
Fuck!
The wolves were almost upon us, we can't afford to be caught.
I hastily rose and tried to help the girl to stand, but she shook her head.
"Run, I'm the one they need. They won't chase after you when they get me. Moreover, my bones seemed broken. I will delay you—"
"No! I won't let you go! I vowed to save you, so I will keep my promise." I tried to raise her from the ground.
"Let's leave, Brys! She asked you to let her go. Won't you do as she asked!" Fan yelled. "They are almost here!"
I ignored his words as I tried to raise the Omega, but it was futile. Her ankle seemed dislocated.
"Leave—"
The words froze in her throat when the wolves, who were giving chases, got to where we were. They rushed towards us, and instinctively, I closed my eyes, already expecting the end.
There was no way they will let me leave, not after all the insults I gave to them. They will devour my flesh.
"Don't you dare touch him!" Someone growled.
At the sound of the familiar voice, I peeked an eye open.
In front of me, stood Sky.
Though he still retained his human form, his claws were out.
The wolves howled.
"The omega is mine," Sky said in a deep voice. "Don't ever touch what doesn't belong to you!" He growled at them.
At first, I thought the bullies wouldn't listen to him since there were Alphas among them, but I was surprised when they whined at his words before they turned and left the place.
Did the Alphas just respect Sky?
I blinked as my mind tried to figure out if tricks were being played on it.
"What a manly wolf! If only he was my host." Fan moaned. "Why am I stuck with someone like you who's not only stubborn but can't even fight!"
I didn't pay any heed to him, since this wasn't the first time he had said those words. First, it was Ray, who he claimed was cuter than I.
"Are you okay?" Sky turned to me. His claws were nowhere to be seen. His hands had returned to normal.
"I'm good. She's the one who needs help." I motioned to the Omega, who was shaking in my arms.
Her eyes were tightly shut as tears slid down her eyes.
"What happened to her?" Sky furrowed his brows.
"Her left ankle is dislocated. Can you please help me take her back to school? The healer needs to check on her." I tried to rise but was unable to do so because of the Omega who clung to be like her entire life depended solely on it.
"I will help her. You don't have to take her to the healer. Moreover, she will only get scolded there should they realize what happened. You know how much teachers hate interactions between us." He touched her ankle. "They will think she was the one who sought their trouble."
"But that wasn't what happened! They threw her in a ditch! Those damned bullies!" I gritted my teeth, pissed that I didn't give any of them a thorough beating.
Wait until I get them one on one, I will beat that cocky green-haired Alpha. He will be the first one I will use my fists on!
"But they won't believe your words. You are omegas." He twisted her dislocated foot.
"Goddess!"
She screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Be gentle!" I snapped at him before I gently caressed the Omega's hair. "It's okay. He did it to help you. Now, you will only need an hour for the bones to fully heal."
Had she been an Alpha or Beta, the bones would have healed by now. But as Omegas, we don't heal as rapidly as Alphas.
"She will be able to walk with it in a few minutes." Sky rose from his kneeling position. "I will help you carry her to her hostel." He made to carry her, but she frantically shook her head as she clung to me.
"Don't worry, I will carry her." I slowly rose from the ground, with her in my arms.
"Thanks for your help, Sky. I will take her back."
Sky watched us leave without saying a word, though he looked as if he wanted to say something.
The Omega clung to me and refused to let go until I reached the door of the female omegas' dorm.
"Can you walk on your own?" I gently lowered her to the ground.
"Yes, thank you very much." She sniffed as she wiped the tears from her face. "I'm Star."
"Brys," I smiled.
"Thank you once more, Brys. I will take my leave now." She turned and leapt towards her room.
As the other students were likely in the cafeteria, I was confident that she will be okay in her room.
When I made certain that she was good, I turned and headed towards the hall where I left the books I was packing.
The teacher will surely have my head should I delay any further than I've done.
"Oh my, so Omegas are also two-timers?" A voice mocked behind me.
