The reason was because on their way, they unexpectedly ran into a group of hooded bandits that didn't care about their identities despite seeing the trademark of Lord Wayward's carriage.
The hooded bandits initially shot a harpoon-like arrow at the giant eagle flying in the sky, but the agile bird with the help of the bird rider managed to evade the incoming attack.
