Chapter 11 - A straight foward person does not resort to insinuations.

"Something is not right," Flynn thought, as he was in no mood to listen to what the teacher was saying. It was not normal that a simple incident could lead to so many events. It was true that some people were upset, but it was highly unlikely that he would receive so much backlash without someone fueling the fire. "Someone is definitely behind this," Flynn thought, trying to come up with a plan to find the main culprit.

As he was thinking, two officers appeared, knocking on the classroom door. "We are looking for Flynn," they said, looking around the classroom. A chill running down his spine, Flynn slowly stood up. "What's the matter?" he asked, observing the two lieutenants. "You'll be coming with us," one of the men said. With no choice, Flynn could only follow behind the two lieutenants, feeling the atmosphere slowly grow colder. On the way, Flynn tried to ask a few questions, but were all ignored by the two officers.

He was brought inside a room, with nothing but a desk and two chairs. The two officers left the room, leaving only Flynn inside without explaining everything. Sitting on one of the chairs, Flynn put his feet up high, humming a light tune. Two new people entered the room, one wearing white robes while the other was in a pitch black suit. Flynn's eyes narrowed as he felt the mana radiating off the two people. "They are definitely not the most experienced mages," Flynn thought, looking at the two men. Powerful mages wouldn't let their mana radiate off their body like that. Instead, they would control the mana, leaving almost no trace of any energy. The man in white sat down with a smile, while the man in black stood behind him, staring at Flynn. "Before we begin, I just want to mention that you are definitely not in trouble, we just brought you here so we could have a fuller understanding of the whole situation," the man in white said, with a warm smile. "Put your feet down! And you better not lie today, or I do some really terrible things to you," the man in black said, with a scolding tone.

"So if it's only a chat, why bring me to a interrogation room, Mr. Good Cop?" Flynn said, sneering at the man in front of him. Realizing that the oldest trick in the book wouldn't work, the man in white quickly switched up his tactics. "What were you doing two hours ago?" the man in white asked. Two hours ago was when Flynn first caught wind of his brother being beaten up. "I heard that my brother was getting bullied by several eight-graders, so I helped him," Flynn answered honestly. The man in white glanced at the other officer, as if he was affirming something. The movement was fast and subtle, amateur mages would definitely not have noticed. "So you admit that you purposely beaten up the five eight-graders?" the man in front of him asked. "Nope, it was just a friendly spar," Flynn replied. Pulling out the video of Flynn cutting off the fingers of the kids, the man once again asked, "Did they agree to the fight, because this doesn't look like a friendly spar."

"That's so brave! If he appeared, would all of you beat him up?" Flynn could be heard saying. "Of course!" all of the five kids' voices could be heard distinctly. The sounds came from a video Flynn recorded with his holophone, which he recorded before the fight just in case something like this happened. "See? They've all agreed to the fight," Flynn said, shrugging. The man in black slammed his fists on the table. "Kid, you are courting death! Do you think this is a game?" he said, pointing straight at Flynn. With a wronged expression, Flynn replied, "I thought this was just a normal chat. Did you lie to me?" "Don't play the victim," the man in black said, slowly losing his demeanor. Flynn shrugged. Once he knew what the two were up to, he wasn't really afraid of what they were going to do. "So who is the one behind this?" Flynn decided to ask directly.

The expressions on the two officers instantly changed, but quickly returned back to normal. That slight change didn't escape Flynn's keen eyesight. "We are officials directly recruited by Eternity, we are currently in the Imperials," the man in white replied. "Cut off the dramatics, you know very well what I am asking," Flynn snickered. "You are here to answer questions, not ask them," the man in black said, purposefully shutting off Flynn. "Let me make my guess. Perhaps it's the child of some high ranking official that unfortunately failed the last test?" Flynn asked, observing their expressions. The two didn't even reply. "You are a smart kid, unfortunately someone wants you out of the school," the man in white said, sighing.

Pulling out a lighter which was clearly a catalyst, the man in black unleashed a spell. "Hypnosis," he chanted, as Flynn's pupils instantly dilated. Checking Flynn's heartbeat and eyes, the man was pretty sure that Flynn had fallen for his spell. "What's your name?" the man asked, just to be certain. In a monotone voice, Flynn answered, "Flynn." "When you leave this room, you will forget everything that happened here. You will than turn yourself in, admitting that you beaten up the eight-graders against their will," the man said. With a blank expression, Flynn didn't reply. "Nod if you understand," the man said. Seeing that Flynn nodded, the man in black set him free. "Our first time on the job and we meet such a shrewd person," the man in white said. "Fortunately, the minds of these high-school students aren't developed enough to fight against Hypnosis," the man in black replied, proud that they managed to complete their task successfully. "For the Council," the man in white said, saluting. As the man in black repeatedl the same words and gesture, it seems like Flynn underestimated the power of who he was dealing is.

Walking out of the interrogation room, Flynn's clouded eyes instantly cleared up. Shaking his head, he had a sly grin on his face. "Weak amateurs," he mocked the two officers in his heart. Their burlesque act really stunned Flynn, did they have no information on his healing magic? A simple spell such as Hypnosis casted by such a amateur mage could never control Flynn. And if they were attentive enough, they would've noticed that the catalyst on Flynn's finger was activated, as he was forcefully controlling his pupils and vital signs. Sending a text message to Rick, Flynn reminded him to be careful. "Someone is after me, don't get involved," he sent, warning Rick to stay out of the situation. He could counter Hypnosis spells easily, but Rick would definitely fall victim to sly mages.

Flynn pretended to walk towards the Office of Student Affairs, pretending to be under the influence of the spell. He was not sure if they had anymore stool pigeons watching him, and he didn't want his cover to be blown so soon. Entering the office, a lieutenant noticed Flynn. "Do you need anything?" the lieutenant asked, thinking that Flynn was probably looking for a teacher. "I think I walked into the wrong room," Flynn said, quickly leaving through the other exit that was located on different sides of the building. Although Flynn's actions seemed weird, the lieutenant just dismissed it, thinking that perhaps Flynn was just a lost student trying to find his teacher's office.

Returning to the classroom, Flynn let out a sigh of relief. A few of his classmates were curious, but Flynn did not answer any questions. The whole process definitely took a mental toll on him. His brain was overheating during the interrogation, analyzing every detail. He had a vague idea of what was going on, but he still had no idea who was pulling te strings behind the curtain. "Well I guess I'll have to leave that up to future me," Flynn thought, as another wave of drowsiness washed over him. Looking at the history teacher who was teaching his class with enthusiasm, Flynn felt a tiny sense of guilt. The sense of guilt however, was washed away by the sleepiness, as he slowly begin to drift of into dreamland, accompanied by the sound of the teacher talking about the industrial revolution.

The people involved with this situation definitely had some background, since they could call Flynn to the interrogation room without encountering any trouble. Flynn reported today's incident to his father, but he didn't expect his father to do anything. Although Flynn's father was also a very high ranking official, he had almost little to no authority inside of the school. He was also not the kind of man who would play dirty tricks, since he was a man of true honor and competence. His father also wanted Flynn to become someone who could rely on himself, so the chance of his father helping was slim to none. With no one that could help him, Flynn was definitely in for a treat.
