Chapter 3 - Plans For Economic Advancement

Aron persisted with his old-fashioned exercise routine, taking brief pauses to catch his breath when his heart rate became too high. With no modern exercise equipment or dedicated workout area, the tall but frail young man had to rely on traditional methods. His exercise routine was based on the training he had received as a conscript in ROK Army, although it had been modified to suit his weakened body and fragile heart. Despite the challenges, Aron remained determined to improve his physical condition and build a stronger, healthier body.

As he struggled to push his body to the limits, Aron realized the importance of having proper equipment for exercising. He made a mental note to approach a skilled blacksmith and inquire about the feasibility of crafting such items. However, he also knew that it would be improper to ask the smith to do it for free. Aron had plans for the future, and he needed to make up for the lack of trust that his people had in him. He was determined to implement something he was truly good at it was his idea of "Rapid Economical Development and Planning," a Lamely Titled Set of strategies that could make anyone rich without requiring any resources, except trust. Aron knew it was a dirty set of tricks, but he was confident that it could work wonders for the future of his motives.

Aron, Or formerly known as Hueng Min Park in his previous body, had always been an enthusiastic economics scholar, having excelled at the prestigious KAIST and even writing a comprehensive thesis on his plan for "Rapid Economical Developed and Planning." Now, he was eager to implement this plan using his vast knowledge and experience in diverse fields. Although it was a shame that the world had lost such a brilliant mind like Hueng Min Park, Aron was determined to monopolize his knowledge to the fullest extent and bring his vision to this Strange World.

Bartolomeo gazed upon his sickly half brother struggle to improve himself from a tower above the Castle's courtyard. A frown was spread across his face as his wicked eyes glared menacingly at sight. This sudden desire for self-improvement did not bode well for his plans. His anger only outmatched his disbelief.

From a tower high above the castle courtyard, Bartolomeo looked down upon his sickly half-brother as he struggled to improve his health through exercise. A frown creased his face, and his wicked eyes glared menacingly at the sight. Bartolomeo couldn't believe what he was seeing, and his anger only grew at the thought that Aron's sudden desire for self-improvement could hinder his own plans.

Despite having given Aron a lethal dose of Venom, Bartolomeo was shocked to see him still alive and thriving. He had obtained the deadly concoction from a certain "Alchemist", which was supposed to be potent enough to kill a group of men, let alone a single individual. However, Aron had survived, and all of his plans to eliminate him had failed. Bartolomeo was left with a substantial amount of debt, and if he could not claim his father's title and wealth, he would not be able to repay it.

After roughly an Hour of Back Breaking Excercise Aron was exhausted and in dire need of a bath. He craved the hot water that reminded him of the dire need of creating fragrant soap and also the steam baths from his previous life and wanted to get rid of the sweat and grime that had accumulated on his body during the workout. The servants were surprised when he requested to bathe twice in one day, but they followed his orders nonetheless.

After cleansing himself once more, Aron returned to his room, where he sat at his desk, took out a piece of parchment, and began to write the foundations of a Banking Firm that would be useful for several of the early innovations he intended to make to the economics of his turf.

....

In this alternate timeline of England, the situation was dire, similar to what Aron had observed in the world of Game of Thrones in his previous life. The Von Angles royal family governed the country, since the Vikings never arrived and the Germans were assimilated into the United Roman Empire and Anglo Saxons Were Very Different than their Counterparts of Aron's Previous World. Moreover The Nine former kingdoms of Britannium were united into duchies as part of the process of unifying England in this alternate timeline. Moreover, all the mainland territories of Britain were encompassed within England's borders in this timeline.

The Barony of Fargo was located in this alternate version of England, which was based on the real-life Plymouth. The barony was positioned at the mouth of the River Plym, which flowed southward and provided a natural harbor opening to the English Channel. The von Fargos were able to maintain control over the Strategic area containing heaps of fertile land and Native Harbour primarily due to its advantageous geographic location. If they were not Vassals of the Duke of Wessex, more powerful families within the kingdom would have likely attempted to take control of the region for themselves.

Despite his limited authority within his father's domain, Aron believed that he could at least negotiate with his father about implementing his innovative ideas. He planned to present a prototype business pitch to his father and convince him of the benefits of such innovations.

He planned to present a blue print and a presentation to his father and claim that he acquired the papers from a trader from Rome, as similar primitive banks should exist there even if the timeline is altered. The sooner the barony could establish a functioning Banking firm, the better it would be for his plans.

After Aron had completed his presentation and the blue print on one of the most critical innovations in banking, which would have been impossible to operate a firm without it in his previous life's timeline. It was referred to as "Commercial Banks" or "Retail Banks." With just a few customers, it would lay the early foundations for a well-established firm.

Retail banks, or commercial banks, are institutions that provide a variety of financial services and products to small businesses and individuals. These services may comprise of checking and savings accounts, loans, mortgages, credit checks, and investment products. Retail banks act as a crucial intermediary between borrowers and lenders, helping individuals and small businesses obtain access to capital and financial assistance.

Retail banks are crucial in providing support to various industries and sectors of the economy. They serve as intermediaries that allow individuals and small businesses to obtain capital and credit to pursue their goals and expand their operations. This, in turn, contributes to the growth and development of the economy as a whole.

Aron recognized that in order to invest the collected money, he needed to establish a functioning port in the natural harbor of the Barony. While he believed that a port with trading centers near the English Channel, such as the Port of Dover, would already exist, he thought that a strategic location like Fargo would have a local town with a functioning sea port capable of holding and going of a few ships. If there wasn't already one in place, he planned to persuade his father to build one alongside the retail bank. Aron went ahead and created a set of blueprints for the sea port just in case it was not already present in Fargo.

Aron carried the dried blueprints and made his way towards his father's study. The sun was setting in the background as he approached the sturdy oak doors and knocked. He could hear his father's deep voice responding shortly after.

"Enter," his father's deep voice called out as Aron knocked on the sturdy oak doors.

Upon entering his father's study, Aron felt a sense of nervousness wash over him, but he tried his best to keep his composure. His father was seated behind a large desk, engrossed in paperwork. The room was adorned with a small library, containing books relevant to managing the affairs of the realm.

Aron took a moment to observe the room, then approached his father's desk, carefully holding the parchments. Marcus continued to work, not acknowledging his son's presence.

"I hope this is something significant..."

Marcus said, without looking up from his paperwork, as Aron approached his desk and stood before him with the parchments in hand.

"I have something of great importance to show you. It pertains to the economic well-being of our realm," Aron said as he placed the parchments on his father's desk, trying to get his attention.

Aron cleared his throat and handed the documents he had spent most of the afternoon drafting to his father.

Marcus stopped his work and gave Aron a questioning look, as if wondering if it was worth his time to examine the documents. Despite this, he took the papers from his son and skimmed over them briefly before setting them down and letting out a sigh.

"What is the purpose of these documents?"

Marcus was skilled in matters of statesmanship and warfare, but he was not well-versed in economics. Despite this, he recognized the importance of the blueprints and Presentation presented to him by Aron. However, he needed his son to explain the details to him so that he could fully understand the proposal.

Aron took a deep breath and began to explain the blueprints to his father, highlighting the potential economic benefits of building a Retail Bank in Fargo from the first document.

Aron explained to his father that the bank would provide financial services by taking investment from potential investors and the people and businesses in their realm, which would generate a significant amount of profit in a short period of time. He also explained that the profits could be reinvested to improve the existing ports or even create a new trading sea port if their realm did not have any except fishing ports. The Port would fit as a booster to increase the capacity and Profits made from the Bank.

Marcus's face showed a look of surprise as he reviewed the blueprints and listened to Aron's presentation. Even though he didn't completely understand what he was looking at, the potential benefits that Aron mentioned were too attractive to disregard. However, he had a sudden question in his mind, which he voiced to Aron - "Where did you get this from?"

Aron had anticipated such a question and thus weaved a tale of how he had come across a traveling merchant from the heart of Rome who had traded the blueprints and technology with him for a small price. While Marcus was initially skeptical of this claim, he had heard stories of the advanced trade and economics practices in the capital of the Roman Empire and decided to act upon Aron's proposal.

Marcus acknowledged that it might be challenging for Aron to accept, but he reminded him that he, too, had faced similar experiences as a young lad. He had ideas that he was unable to execute due to a lack of support and resources. However, he was intrigued by the blueprints and the concept Aron presented, and he believed that it had potential. To ensure its feasibility, he exclaimed that he would be inviting experts and architects to examine the plans.

Although, Aron tries to disagree as he was certain that the plan would work, but he realized disagreeing wouldn't do anything so he just smiled and bowed to his father respectfully; truthfully, this had gone better than he had thought.

"I express my gratitude to you, father, for giving heed to my request."

Having uttered those words, Marcus seized his quill and resumed his task of completing the paperwork.

Aron made a final bow to the Baron, his heart swelling with pride, before departing from the room with a wide smile adorning his face. The introduction of Retail Banking and Trading Ports were merely the initial steps in his grand plans for modernizing the land. His next objective was to introduce basic irrigation and field integration, utilizing commonly found fertilizers such as Calcium Carbonate. This was not something he could achieve by setting a mere excuse like trading with Foreign merchants; he would have to take the time to visit the fields and engage with the peasants of his Turf.

However, Aron's plans for implementing new measures were set for the coming days. At present, he needed to take a break and recuperate from the intense exercise he had put himself through earlier in the morning. It was only going to become more demanding as he progressed. Following a quick bite in the kitchen, Aron returned to his chamber to rest. In no time, he drifted into a deep sleep, and in his dreams, he found himself reflecting on his past, present, and the events that had to Occur.
